In a time where honesty/integrity should trump all other attributes, I say if U can’t even pass the moral test, U shouldn’t even b allowed 2 run:

NEWT cheated wife. I wanna know that something stood n his way when offered the opportunity to cheat/lie, his morals, God, something-nothing stood n his way, which 2 me means when the time comes, he’ll choose what he wants over everything else.

And I suppose the 4 consecutive balanced budgets under Newt's watch were all accidental and against his wishes, right? Cause I mean, it would just be SO much easier to raise the debt ceiling rather than do something drastic, like shut down the federal government to force the president to play ball and sign a balanced budget.

@twogoodith Newt got muscled out by an "ethics" committee headed by Nancy Pelosi. They leveled 84 charges against the speaker, and over the course of the investigation, 83 were dropped. Those involving the IRS prompted the bureau to call Newt and apologize personally. And of the 84 charges, the only one to stick was a mistyped legal document that Newt signed without realizing the error. Rather than continue the charade, he decided to pay for the costs he incurred.

@shadowstorm1989 To brush off the ethics violations as a partisan event is wrong. The ethics panel that went after Gingrich was evenly split among dems and repubs (4 and 4)and still voted 7-1 to reprimand Gingrich.

@twogoodith Then why did they end up dropping 83 of the 84 charges, along with apologies from the IRS? There was 1 ethics "violation" that stuck, and it was a legal document Newt signed without catching an error. For that, he paid for the cost of the investigation.

On the plus side, he managed to balance the budget the ONLY 4 times in living memory, paying off 405 billion in national debt in the process, and got welfare reform through a liberal democrat president.

@Chesedrosen The political establishment has been like an adult addict putting their crack cocaine on credit cards taken out in the names of their own children. Debt at 100% of GDP has been the historical sign of a country sliding down the economic tubes ala Greece and we just passed that. We haved reached the point where the Ponzi scheme breaks down because we're out of new suckers to pay for those above them. Perhaps it is less painful to call someone a lunatic than open our eyes.
