Mike Gravel's libertarianism is something I find troubling. I supported Kucinich over him. Then Edwards. Then Obama. If you don't believe in libertarianism, you just can't support it. It's that simple.
I like how Gravel speaks his mind, but he has a very defeatist attitude. In some ways he supports buisness as usual, because he thinks it's dangerous to try and change things. I think it's more dangerous with the current secrecy. Barack seems like the only real contender who might take a chance and give us disclosure. There are a lot of solutions being suppressed. I hope he knows enough to have unprecedented security independent of the current intelligence agencies. I will be writing Ron Paul in
EricIndiana, Mikes Gravels' intentions are great, and although he never quits, he seems resigned to the idea that things aren't going to be able to be changed. He says that Obama's talk of change is dangerous, because he doesn't know that he can't deliver. Gravel thinks it is bad to get people's hopes up. It's obvious to me that Ron Paul is out of it, but I think that support for candidates like Paul, Gravel, and Kucinich is going to grow as people start opening their eyes.
It is bad getting peoples hopes up if you know in your heart you are never going to be able to deliver. Its as good as lying.
Obama does not even know how many States there are in the US. Did I not just hear him claim hes been to 57 States the other day, and he thinks he has 1 or 2 more to go?
You dont think thats dangerous?
Having a US President that doesnt even know how many States there are in the US?
Whichever candidate wins, I will be hoping that they will be open with the people and have some concern for us. I would hope they wouldn't follow Bush's current economic policies, energy policies, or foreign policy. I think Obama would more likely be a change from that than with Hillary Clinton or McCain. I would much prefer to see Paul, Gravel, or Kucinich in the White House. We all have a vote. I'll be voting my conscience. I will be writing in Ron Paul.
Mr. Gravel is seldom wrong. Find out who Obama's advisors are - old guard just like before...Obama has said he's not against all wars and wants to rebuild the military. Why does this country need to fight wars? Why? Answer: it doesn't. So why is it doing so?

This is a great candidate for conspirators. Not only is he egotistic but he has no faith in anybody but himself. With such a one sided viewpoint, it is impossible for him to garner the love of the entire American population. He is honest but is also narrow-minded, bitter, and surprisingly uncharismatic.
All candidates are egotistic to some degree or else they couldn't consider running. He has faith in the truth and faith in the power of love. It is impossible for anyone to garner the love of the entire American population! He is open minded not narrow minded. YOU sound narrow-minded. Bitter, no frustrated. How would you feel if you campaigned for almost a year and a half and were excluded from media after 4 debates because you didn't have enough media exposure to gather funds? He had flu.
he's not bitter necessarily but he's an honest politician, two contradictory things. It makes him sound bitter b/c he tells you what no other politician will: that they ARE in the pockets of their so called opponents, b/c without money they can't do anything. Hillary obviously won't change much, and Obama really thinks he will, but doesn't understand that by the time he gets into office, he'll owe the very businesses he's trying to regulate and take down
Obama is no innocent. Obama is telling you he will this, he will that, we can this, we can that. Pure promises, propaganda, whatever works to get the votes. How many times has the American people been promised? Nixon said he would end Vietnam War. He did not. Gravel is the only person offering American people something real: the National Initiative for Democracy. ni4d us. Hello???
That's what I like about him. Haha. So he did get my appreciation. We need someone like this, it doesn't matter if he wins. When the suspected candidates win and most likely fuck shit up, we can look back at Gravel and say...
meh, at least we were warned.
(if you couldn't just tell on your own that Obama was incompetent and that Hillary is fucking scary)
Eh... charisma is overrated in politics. Who gives a shit? Obama has charisma, but he won't get any change done. Don't fool yourself. Narrow-minded? Lol! He just switched to the LP! He has the balls to run for their nomination when no other democrat has. What about the national initative? His opposition to the war on drugs? That's pretty open-minded compared to the frontrunners.
I Agree with you, I Just also switched to the libertarian party, because I Believe in the constitution and obombma does not believe in the constitution
We should never fight these wars without a declaration.
I don't distinguish between any of the 3 Republican or Democratic candidates. Obama = Clinton = McCain = all fed by corporate/military /media and for further destruction of USA and other countries and continued disastrous domestic policies. No thanks. If the Democrats and Republicans have gotten us into this mess, are they going to get us out of it? No. Isn't it time we made them history and created it with the National Initiative?

If the American people pass the National Initiative, we can repeal the Patriot Act, make campaigns publicly funded, legalize the growing of hemp so farmers could make more money and we wouldn't have to import hemp products from other countries like Canada and Mexico, outlaw war except under conditions of self defense or by popular vote (which would have avoid all wars of 20th and 21st century), balance the budget, have system of mag lev trains throughout country, what can you imagine?
I can imagine one thing to get the ball rolling--civil disobedience. They have imposed all of these unconstitutional laws on us, we need to refuse to accept the National ID, we need to stop giving the government money, we need to go ahead and plant hemp anyways (not on your property though, wouldn't want anyone to lose their home.) Plant it on state, city or federally held lands. Don't let one seed go to waste.
WE THE PEOPLE are the most powerful branch of the gov't, they need reminding of that
Hope is for chumps. Power is for humans. Do you want chump change or CITIZEN POWER? Mike Gravel is for the people and their interests. He's telling you the truth and offering the National Initiative.
Republicans are war mongers. McCain has said US could be in Iraq for 100 years! Please, people, that's other people's country! Don't they have a right to their own country? If they don't, who does? What did they do to us? NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING.
Not real Republicans, I'm fervently anti-Iraq war and am Republican. I am for just wars, if we are truly threatened. Party biases are just BS ways to divide us.
I am for peace, freedom and stopping the government from robbing us financially and legally.
Every thing Gravel says is true and always has been. I love Gravel and wish he had a chance. its a sad comentary on this country when a man like Gravel never had a chance. I live in Michigan, B.O.s reason for denying michigan votes is that he withdrew from the race so his name wasnt on the ballot. Help me stand up and demand that ALL states Gravel withdrew from also have a do over for the same reason!!!
Mr. Gravel never withdrew from the race at all. Big Brother, MSNBC through Keith Olbermann, announced on the night the Iowa primary results were provided to the public that three candidates had withdrawn and Mike Gravel's name was spoken first. The next day they withdrew the misinformation. Too late.
Attention Florida/Michigan voters, if the Democrats don't want your vote, the Republicans will be glad to count your vote in the general election. In the Republican party you will count! And this Soviet politburo style process of "Super Delagates" selecting the candidate you may vote on in the general election is unAmerican, undemocratic, and reflects the Democratic politburo (Kennedy, Reed, Pelosi, Byrd [yes, the KKK member], Dean, etc.) don't trust voters to select their chosen candidate.
Bulls eye, instead of creating cynics I hope this creates revolutionaries. Then we can start talking about change, the change you americans can make for your country
We need to have an organizational structure for people to come out from the shadows. Support Mike Gravel's presidential candidacy and the National Initiative. Donate. Volunteer. Think of something you can do by yourself or with friends.
Awake from your slumber 4 Wise Men march with the people Washington DC Whistleblowers Honesty compassion intelligence guts Not carrots sticks coercive diplomacy Divided we fall Mike Gravel Dennis Kucinich Ron Paul Ralph Nader No bribery blackmail extortion
look up cfr... Council on Foreign Relations (or country fucked by Rockefeller) is the think tank to promote new world order. Obama Clinton McCain all members.
No hes mad cause he knows this country is fucked up because of greedy low life scums. TV, politics, all a fucking puppet show and if the country knew what was up we would all be "MAD AS HELL and not going to take it anymore"
This guy is depressing. He offers no possible solutions and no insight other than we're all doomed. This seems an argument for euthinasia. I simply refuse to live and accept that there is nothing I can do to change my circumstances. The bible says that Jesus came to earth to give us a future and a hope. Maybe this man needs more Jesus.
If you don't know where you are, how can you get to where you want to go? Gravel knows where we are. He also knows how to guide us where people want to go - out of war, off oil and gas, carbon, energy independent, real, true freedom for ALL individuals to be who they want to be; health care, care for the elderly, revolution in transportation (mag lev trains) that will be so beneficial for environment and generations to come. Only question is: Are Americans smart enough for Gravel???
Gravel is saying that if you make a bunch of promises that are impossible to keep you are either a) Lying or b) too dumb to know you're lying; he believes obama is the latter
He's trying to say that Obama sold out to corporate interests and thus will be business as usual. The two worst candidates for the dems are at the top, one of the good ones has dropped out (Kucinich), and Gravel really has no chance taking them on. However, Gravel is the only one left that is willing to take on corporate interests (and probably will lose the battle, but won't go down without a fight). Either way, my vote is with him. My voice is heard by that vote, insignificant it may be.
There are only a few but mighty constituencies that don't want to support Mike Gravel: large corporations (Wall Street), the military, defense contractors, the extremely wealthy, the oil and gas companies, the mass media and religious zealots or fanatics. In other words, those most responsible for the mess we now have. To be fair, Americans are also responsible for not doing more sooner. You can help to change this. Support Mike Gravel's Presidential candidacy and the National Initiative.
They are still the exception. Except this time they are leading the pack in a horrifying example of anti-democracy and anti-free speech and anti-liberty.

Mike Gravel is so frikkin ugly and what he's saying is all bullshit - bullshit! calling Obama a celebrity like britney spears, I mean what the hell? stop hating the American people and move or move to Canada for christs sake...
Tell us Mike Gravel what so special about you instead of ragging on the other candidates that you're no match to...
So you want to choose a candidate based on looks then? I guess he was right about the celebrity nature of politics (he means it as an analogy, obviously lost on you). Since when did he hate the American people? He's the only one that actually loves the American people left in the candidacy. Wake up and think before you comment.
It's disgusting how the Democratic party has become a pimp to secure the "woman" vote, the "black" vote and the "poor people" vote. Meanwhile, neither of the two remaining candidates will help either women, minorities or poor people once in power. Mike Gravel will.
Because of idiots like you who dont educate themselves on the candidates and rely on corp media to feed you lies. O% or not, he is still in it, where are you so called progressive crusaders, Kucinich and Edwards, they got in wind and are gone.
I can attest to the truth of what you have written. It's all true...unfortunately. Obama will use the same silence (avoidance) and double speak to keep Americans uninformed as to what is really going on. Gravel is giving us an education on what we are missing: in sum - truth and democracy.
Gravel is much more than a raconteur. Are you prejudiced against older people? Sometimes, people want older people to lead them because they're the best leaders. They don't disrespect and talk about them as if they're dead before they're dead. The important point is they're alive now and able to lead. By the way, how much longer do you have to live?
since the respones to you were said what i was going to say, i might as well simple say ur just another product developed from a illusionary world for means of pleasing just a few greedy men .. congradulations .. great points by the way lol americans, i tell ya
We are a country that no longer (by our culture) respect what the elderly have to offer. Mike Gravel is the only candidate that has proven himself to not only be knowledgeable and sincere, but also willing to fight for real change. Obama and Hillary WILL be business as usual. They are the corporate candidates who do not care about you. He's got some fight in him yet. And unlike you, I'm sure he'll go down fighting when his time comes. Obama is the youngest and one of the worst... too bad
"Flu season and the rigors of the campaign trail took a physical toll on the presidential campaign's oldest candidate today.
Mike Gravel, 77, the former senator of Alaska and long-shot Democratic hopeful, was evaluated by doctors at the Manchester V.A. Medical Center this morning after complaining of respiratory problems."
What now? Accept reality or give Gravel's doctor's 'Thumbs downs"
First, I'm tired and I'm much younger than he is and I haven't been campaigning for over a year and dealing with the aggravating things and people he's been dealing with! He's NOT worn out! If you get to be his age, maybe you'll understand. There's some worn out 30 year olds. Gravel is far from worn out. Part of his message is for all people to get involved and participate and lead. That's part of his own mission that he is choosing--not YOU! Yes, he's not a savior and doesn't want to be.
Dear RealNews Network: Thank you for providing to the American people REAL interviews from the truthtellers that have been DENIED to the American people by the so-called "liberal" media. Mike Gravel tells many unvarnished truths and all Americans would benefit greatly from hearing his message. I do not agree with him that John Edwards is hypocritical. A President has a huge bully-pulpit with which he can create the enthusiasm within the people and therefore within their representatives.
You act and sound like one...that's worse, far worse. Are you an organ grinder's monkey like the chief chimp at the white house or do you not have a leash? Perhaps, you are more like the vice gorilla...all hulking, bulky might without very little consideration of what is right and an absurd smile...
I mean no disrespect but doesn't having a Republican stand point mean that you support less government, and therefor one would be against legislation on lifestyle and personal issues. I never quite understood that about the Republican perspective. I think the Republicans have some strangers in their house...
Just how do you define "lifestyle and personal issues."
What about the people that want less interference from groups that promote child porn like the ACLU or give the power of legislation to those that like to claim some unnatural act to kill their own babies out of convenience in such a horrific way, no video will ever be shown as to expose how gruesome the evil act can be? Why is government interference less destructive than advocacy groups that attack out core values for special rights?
I like Gravel. Gravel and others are free to tell the truth because they aren't front-runners. Remember how refreshing Al Sharpton was during the last election? I'm not a fan of Sharpton's, but he could say what he wanted because he knew he didn't have a chance in hell.
Former Senator Mike Gravel read 4,1000 pages of the Pentagon papers into Congressional committee in 1971 to stop the military draft. It took 5 months. He thought he might go to jail. Nixon later filed legal suit against him that went to Supreme Court. Military draft expired in 1973 thanks to Mike Gravel. He's not just flapping his mouth...
I used to think Mike Gravel was a ideal person to be president, but he has the traits of a politician in him when he makes a comment like:"They are warmongers". You put them all in the same box.
If you are from Sweden, why do you care so much about Ron Paul? Why do you come on a youtube site with Gravel and smear Gravel by saying he was lying when he was talking about the Republican front runners? Ron Paul is not a front runner. Shame on you!
Tell THAT to the FEC. I am no enemy of Gravel. Thought he was my candidate for a while. Then I heard a voice of true reason. I still very much like Mike (NOT Fuckabee), but he has no comprehension of economics and actually believes one world government is a good idea. I stand firm behind Ron Paul, but count Gravel supporters as friends (with whom I'd disagree often but still like).
I will never be able to take anyone seriously who says that Mike Gravel has no comprehension of economics when he studied economics in 1950s at Columbia University in 1950s! Mike Gravel has been a businessman/politician and now social entrepreneur. Ron Paul has been a GYNECOLOGIST and a rhetorical ideologue for about fifty years and at taxpayer expense for about 40 years. Dr. NO is finished. I'm ready for DR. YES, Mike Gravel.
Mike Gravel your lips are moving but you are lying! I am calling your lie! How dare you say all the republicans are war mongers? "Either you are lying or you are too stupid to know you are lying." Right?
I want to know when and where has Ron Paul, EVER, been a warmonger? He has a better track record of voting than you have. You should atleast give credit where it is due.
The Republican party = party of fear. I recently checked out book of photographs from the 30s-70s in Philadelphia: "The Photographs of Charles "Teenie" Harris". In it is a photograph of billboard showing hairy hand reaching toward little blond girl child saying Republicans will keep people safe from Boogey Man. F the Republican party no matter what the candidate! DUST is what they deserve.
"No matter what candidate?" So fuck Abraham Lincoln and the rest of the Republican party that opposed slavery during the 19th century? FYI, BOTH parties have been about fear mongering. LBJ's Daisy ad, anyone? So what have we learned? Not all Republicans to exist are bad, and both parties are guilty of the the same rhetoric.
Please excuse me. I was a little angry. I'm talking about recent decades and especially 9/11 and terrorism alerts. I think Republican party should pay a price for keeping this theme and these people in power. Yes, I do think Republicans bear the most responsibility for fear mongering though both parties have appropriated insane amounts of money for "defense" spending. Repubs promote fear of "Russians" "communism" and now "terrorism" and Dems promote "jobs" from defense industries.
Lincoln's sole goal during that trying time was to preserve the union. If that meant not freeing a single slave, so be it. The war started because northern industrialists prevented the south from importing cheaper European goods with high tariffs. This in turn lead Europeans to not accept cotton exports from the south (their source of economy). This was a main cause of the Civil war (Really was orchestrated by the powers that be in Europe). What does this have to do with Gravel?
Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel are the only complete truth tellers left in the race.
Kucinich has a new youtube update news show. Check it out at "watch?v=WnwwqiDzcjU&NR=1"
ABC and NBC have formed an actual, overt "conspiracy" to shut these gentlemen out of any public debates. The Nevada Supreme court just ruled in favor of the networks, citing their "first Amendment right to free speech" as reason they can shut somebody up!?
I wish i could have told my friends who voted that Obama was one of the most dangerous people to vote for back in 2008 ._.

How can you say he has a defeatist attitude?
He switched to the Independent Party, something Ron Paul refuses to do and continues to dupe his supporters to donating to a lost cause.
No offense.
But the only shot Paul has is if McCain croaks soon.
And the Obama ticket could be worse, he could name Pelosi for his VP candidate.
That will make his "Change" rhetoric all the more hollow, seeing how she could not bring herself to allow impeachment of Bush.

Lew847 3 years ago 2
It is bad getting peoples hopes up if you know in your heart you are never going to be able to deliver. Its as good as lying.
Obama does not even know how many States there are in the US. Did I not just hear him claim hes been to 57 States the other day, and he thinks he has 1 or 2 more to go?
You dont think thats dangerous?
Having a US President that doesnt even know how many States there are in the US?
EricIndiana 3 years ago

He is honest but is also narrow-minded, bitter, and surprisingly uncharismatic.
mmnin 3 years ago
All candidates are egotistic to some degree or else they couldn't consider running. He has faith in the truth and faith in the power of love. It is impossible for anyone to garner the love of the entire American population! He is open minded not narrow minded. YOU sound narrow-minded. Bitter, no frustrated. How would you feel if you campaigned for almost a year and a half and were excluded from media after 4 debates because you didn't have enough media exposure to gather funds? He had flu.
gravelin08 3 years ago
he's not bitter necessarily but he's an honest politician, two contradictory things. It makes him sound bitter b/c he tells you what no other politician will: that they ARE in the pockets of their so called opponents, b/c without money they can't do anything. Hillary obviously won't change much, and Obama really thinks he will, but doesn't understand that by the time he gets into office, he'll owe the very businesses he's trying to regulate and take down
ashleypoo1319 3 years ago 4
Obama is no innocent. Obama is telling you he will this, he will that, we can this, we can that. Pure promises, propaganda, whatever works to get the votes. How many times has the American people been promised? Nixon said he would end Vietnam War. He did not. Gravel is the only person offering American people something real: the National Initiative for Democracy. ni4d us. Hello???
gravelin08 3 years ago 2
That's what I like about him. Haha. So he did get my appreciation. We need someone like this, it doesn't matter if he wins. When the suspected candidates win and most likely fuck shit up, we can look back at Gravel and say...
meh, at least we were warned.
(if you couldn't just tell on your own that Obama was incompetent and that Hillary is fucking scary)
sheerterror77 3 years ago 2
Eh... charisma is overrated in politics.

If the American people pass the National Initiative, we can repeal the Patriot Act, make campaigns publicly funded, legalize the growing of hemp so farmers could make more money and we wouldn't have to import hemp products from other countries like Canada and Mexico, outlaw war except under conditions of self defense or by popular vote (which would have avoid all wars of 20th and 21st century), balance the budget, have system of mag lev trains throughout country, what can you imagine?
gravelin08 4 years ago
I can imagine one thing to get the ball rolling--civil disobedience. They have imposed all of these unconstitutional laws on us, we need to refuse to accept the National ID, we need to stop giving the government money, we need to go ahead and plant hemp anyways (not on your property though, wouldn't want anyone to lose their home.) Plant it on state, city or federally held lands. Don't let one seed go to waste.

Help me stand up and demand that ALL states Gravel withdrew from also have a do over for the same reason!!!
cermudgion1 4 years ago
Mr. Gravel never withdrew from the race at all.

Only question is: Are Americans smart enough for Gravel???

Obama is still the best choice. Raising expectations is a GOOD thing. We SHOULD expect progress. What, exactly, is Gravel trying to say?
ichormosquito 4 years ago
He's trying to say that Obama sold out to corporate interests and thus will be business as usual. The two worst candidates for the dems are at the top, one of the good ones has dropped out (Kucinich), and Gravel really has no chance taking them on. However, Gravel is the only one left that is willing to take on corporate interests (and probably will lose the battle, but won't go down without a fight). Either way, my vote is with him. My voice is heard by that vote, insignificant it may be.

Tell THAT to the FEC. I am no enemy of Gravel. Thought he was my candidate for a while. Then I heard a voice of true reason. I will never be able to take anyone seriously who says that Mike Gravel has no comprehension of economics when he studied economics in 1950s at Columbia University in 1950s! Mike Gravel has been a businessman/politician and now social entrepreneur. The Republican party = party of fear. I recently checked out book of photographs from the 30s-70s in Philadelphia: "The Photographs of Charles "Teenie" Harris". F the Republican party no matter what the candidate! DUST is what they deserve.
gravelin08 4 years ago
"No matter what candidate?" So fuck Abraham Lincoln and the rest of the Republican party that opposed slavery during the 19th century? FYI, BOTH parties have been about fear mongering. LBJ's Daisy ad, anyone? So what have we learned? Not all Republicans to exist are bad, and both parties are guilty of the the same rhetoric.
dabigkid 4 years ago
it's a lie that the civil war was about slavery, that was superimposed afterwards, it was (of course) about power
RevolutionaryJam 4 years ago 2
That's irrelevant. Before the war, the Republican party was against slavery and the Democratic party was still for it.
dabigkid 4 years ago
Please excuse me. I was a little angry. I'm talking about recent decades and especially 9/11 and terrorism alerts. I think Republican party should pay a price for keeping this theme and these people in power. Yes, I do think Republicans bear the most responsibility for fear mongering though both parties have appropriated insane amounts of money for "defense" spending. Repubs promote fear of "Russians" "communism" and now "terrorism" and Dems promote "jobs" from defense industries.
gravelin08 4 years ago
Lincoln's sole goal during that trying time was to preserve the union. If that meant not freeing a single slave, so be it. The war started because northern industrialists prevented the south from importing cheaper European goods with high tariffs. This in turn lead Europeans to not accept cotton exports from the south (their source of economy). This was a main cause of the Civil war (Really was orchestrated by the powers that be in Europe). What does this have to do with Gravel?
