  • Well done!

  • I can't believe you learned this by just listening to it! Even if you had to use a slow downer software. You are great! Do you write your own flamenco music?

  • @narhem123

its funny you mention this now. I am currently delving back into this bulerias, and i have figured

out 2 new falsettas from it. I do write a little flamenco, but i mainly just enjoy transcribing and playing, especially Paco's music. Thanks for watching!! I will post some new vids in the next few days.

  • @Guitarwizard, BTW, believe it or not, about 5 years ago I downloaded an old video of you from foroflamenco (I think!) playing another Bulerias. I had completely forgotten about that video till I stumbled upon your youtube channel just yesterday, thinking man I've seen this guy playing somewhere! Then it dawned on me that it was you on that video. I looked for it just last night and there it was! Found it among my archived computer files. U don't have that video on your youtube channel.

  • @narhem123 wow! Thats pretty crazy. Yeah, i still hang out at ForoFlamenco. I'd love to see

the video you have. Do still frequent the forum these days?

  • @Guitarwizard I rarely visit foroflamenco these days. I am not sure how to get you that video file! May be I upload it to my youtube channel and share it with you or something. Will keep you posted.

  • it's nomatter how you play..music which you're making is importanat..!.."musicians are behind that"...paco's thinking..:))

  • nicely done! congrats!

  • by ear..good lord..wow

i love this. fun to hear snippets of Brejeiro in it

or could be vice versa : )

    jaw dropping talent....more wow

  • actually, i now play with out a pick. See my alegria video.

  • respect! i must say your playing is splendid for a non spanish guy.

  • waw, fantastic, amazing, the playining is very very nice, bravo :-D

  • wahoooo nice playing its a hard thing jolie travail

  • u got duende man, is that a pick u using?, very nice!!!

  • greaaaaat , you dont use "flamenco technick" but it sound very flamenco. love it

  • Intense!

  • why you don't put more video and erase someone?

  • you are incredible amazing

  • really incredible, amestro olèè

  • Great!!! This is flamenco!!! OLE!!!!

  • ok , you still answered my question about the notation.

  • sorry frank, i dont read music. I figured this out off the record by ear. Im also now playing with conventional right hand technique. I will be posting some new vids very soon! Thanks for the comments!

  • incredible, what are you doing with the rhight hand. i never saw something like that. I try to play Flamenco since since 25 years.

It sounds like flamenco, it is flamenco, what you are playing.

what is your name in real life?

By the way: do you have the notation? Could you send it to me? So you will have another real friend in germany.

    greetings

    Frank

  • What does this have to do with the bulerias video? It's even flamenco. Sure, you're good, but why post that here?

  • you are AMAZING man. seriously I'm not sure if I would be able to tell the difference if I was to put this on my mp3 instead of the actual song on zyryab. great job, good technique and good feel.

  • ohh it's amazing men good work and nice feeling! can we have a tablature for this composition ?pleaaaaaaaaaase

  • very nice mister Toddk! always at the top!!

    best regards from france

  • Amerenco?

  • My spanish isnt that good but It is flamenco!!!!

  • you are a pioneer for hybrid picking...you can have your way with electric and still get into flamenco...can't do that with just nails!!!

  • You are the first American I've seen on Youtube that can play FLamenco

  • I think that the most important is the sound and here we have the SOUND :) if everybody was thinking only to keep traditions, flamenco was still unknown.Time ago flamenco people didn´t accept not even Paco because he left strict traditions. So what? Anyway I love your style even if I prefer strict flamenco techniques but I aprreciate your combinative picking too.Its just sounds great and its absolutely your style! Cool :)

  • great idea. brawo..

  • la madre del señor!!

  • Que mania con decir que eso no es flamenco!!! Es flamenco y del bueno!!! Y al que le pique que se rasque!!! Oleee!!! Seguro que no tienes antepasados por Cadiz???!!!

  • I hope you answer to this post:

DId you transcribe "Soniquete" by yourself, or did you get the tab somewhere?

BTW. I also checked out your videos, I think they are great.

  • Yes, i transcribed it myself by ear using

the Amazing Slow Downer software. I didnt write it out though. Its so complicated rhythmically, it would take too long. I suck at tabbing things out, and generally dont do it. Thanks for commenting!! Happy to hear you like my vids! GW

  • OK!!! A LOS PURISTAS DE LA TECNICA DEL FLAMENCO EN LA GUIT...QUE OS PAREZE!!!cOMO DICE EL MAESTRO GERARDO LO IMPORTANTE NO ES COMO PONER LOS DEDOS SINO LO QUE SUENA... Y ESTO SUENA!!!MIS FELICITACIONES MAESTRO TU SI QUE SUENAS!!!

  • Its by Paco de Lucia :-)

Sorry to seem confrontational. I get

alot of flack for using a pick. Check out my Alegrias video. I composed that myself.

I sent you a friend invite. Hope you accept.

    Peace!

    GW

  • if you would train your right hand fingers more and left the pick you should be a marvelous guitarrist...it´s my opinion...otherwise great technique !! ;)

  • Agree!

  • plenty of compass again.

  • ooh paco's buleria!!!! amazing man!!!!

  • nice buleria ))

  • sorry man, but i'm afraid that this IS flamenco :-)

loads of top notch players do their rasgueados different from each other but no-one is 'right'! so if you use a pick, go ahead!

speaking of top notch players, i have to say....

    well played! Oleeeeeee!

    Derek

  • olèè la buleria very very good my friend you star and master in youtube@hichem amigos

  • Not flamenco???? Because you don't use your fingers??? Yo are rong men, tath's flamenco.

  • nice buleria ;)

  • you're playing flamenco dude and i can't say you're not, very nice and clean playing...great knowledge of falsetas..impressive from a plectrum player..keep it up! and you are playing flamenco, screw the critics..

  • ironic comment! don't care you use a plectrum, it's the sound and youve developed new ways of playing things..crazy..in a good way

  • Wow,it sounds very cool! I know how much work that is - more power and JOY to You.Thanks for shearing. I wish I can listen to You live !! You gig?

  • Nice playing. Flamenco players are often so serious and nasty about what REAL flamenco is.

I got shit from one guy for playing flute with some flamencos people at a party. He said; The Flute is not Flamenco...

    I said are you Spanish?

    No, Puerto Rican!

I said; I just saw Paco come with a flutist in Concert. The Puerto Rican "expert" shut his mouth up fast after that.

Flamenco is ever changing just like all art.

  • Your right,it is,Camaron de La Isal the god of flamenco was one of the people who widely opened the doors of flamenco to other sounds. BUT I must agree, there is no comparison to pure gypsie flamenco, and it should be preserved when it comes down to it

  • this is great! I've developed a lot of the right hand flamenco techniques for playing with a pick but it's no way near as developed as this,

    michael berk

  • To my ear it is flamenco even though you play with a pick. OLE!!! A mi me gusta como toca este tio!!! If i was as fast as you with a pick i would play like that, but i never learned to play with it.

  • ok thanks i hope you will show us and so teach the world how the play meditteriansundance completly true.like vicente s song you teach very thanks

  • hey what are you doing plz say me i listened this song for hundred times from paco but there is no any differences with your song plz say me do you think is there any absent your song i couldn t hear any absent and plz say send more nad teac us some for istance medittrian sundance thanks

  • Thanks drsarp84! Yes, i think its a very good transcription, though i havent transcribed that entire bulerias. I will try to find some time to show you some parts of Meditaranean Sundance.

Its almost as hard to spell as it is to play, haha :-) Thanks for your comments

  • yes, thats true that he doesnt play flamenco traditionally like he is supposed to, but he plays this piece as it is flamenco, the only difference is that he uses a pick instead of a thumb for picado, if u just listened this piece without knowing who plays it u would absolutely believe that it is a flamenco guitarist, i have seen that he played tremolo and rasquedo so it has to be flamenco, in fact todd u have created something new, with hybrid technique u can play flamenco

  • man i gota say i love your non flamenco songs, with flamenco qualities...just name it flamingo like paul gilbert did xD

  • Flamingo it is!!! haha! Thanks reaper! ;-)

  • todd, you are one of the best guitarists ever, i have been studying your videos for some time now, and all i got to say is that ur guitar playing is phenomenal, never i have seen someone playing guitar in jazz, blues, fusion, flamenco and classical. ur one of a kind dude with a unique technique, keep up the good work

  • Thanks man! Very inspiring comments to say the least!

Very thankful to be doing what i love, and sharing it with you

    guys. Thanks for watching!

  • Hey!Your Rumba "not Flamenco" piece was on of the best acoustic guitar vids i think.

  • hey Todd,

What is the name of this piece? It sounds like Manolo Sanlucar.

    Am I right?

  • actually, you're very close. Its from Paco De Lucia's Zyrab, on

wich Paco plays a killer Bulerias with none other than Manolo Sanlucar. I love watching those to play together!

  • Yes, it sounded like Manolo! They do sound great together. 2 different styles blended.

Do you know where I can get the music for this, or did you get the music just by listening to the record?

  • Man that was FANTASTIC!

  • very nice! Im looking for some palmas only tracks like that to practice along with. You know where i might be able to find some?

  • Excellent, bravo!

  • good played toodk

  • enable the rating and i will rate 5 stars :-)

  • he's not a neo classical player just to correct Vinniemoore89.he's playing classical flamenco music. and he's doing a damn good job at it too. and as far as the pick goes the only thing that matters is how you sound. whatever you have to do to make that sound really makes no difference. i just had to throw that in there because too many guitarists are labeled as good because what they play looks difficult. this guy is fantastic though.

  • wooow you are such amazing,I have never see some body play flamenco by a pick like u,

can ia ask you what type of guitar did use when play the buleria???

  • Hi, Thanks!! I use a Richard Brune Blanca flamenco. They are not made anymore unfortunatly. But you can sometimes find a used one. Thanks for the comment! Cheers! GW

  • hi, i want to buy a flamenco guitar and my budjet is about 800$ I am so confuzed which flamenco guitar should i buy,

I was thinking about the Antonio Aparicio AA90 blanca flamenco guitar,

    so what do you think?

  • Yes, ive read about the Aparicio line, and they seem to be very nice for the price. I have a Yamaha CG171SF wich is a blanca and its pretty awesome for 350$

  • do you make your own stuff

  • Before I used to not want to see using a pick in Flamenco Spanish guitars, but John McLaughlin and Al Dimeola won me over. Now this guitarist emphasized it even stronger that it doesn't matter as long as it sounds like it.

  • wow, thats one of the coolest comments ive ever gotten! THANK YOU!!

  • Great stuff as usual Todd!

    Great music...get's my blood goin'

    Ron

  • That composition is '' Soniquete '' by Paco de LUCIA.

    Thanx.

  • gooood guy....

  • You really should produce a "hybrid playing" instruction book.

  • Outstanding, first time I see flamenco well play with a pick. And I meant well played.

  • yah hes a great neo classical player

  • all i can say is wow!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, THanks V!!

I love Vinnie Moore's playing alot by the way..:)

  • Actually sounds good. Can you picado or the pick is just personal preference?

  • interesting guess thats why I just play my songs. Happy unbirthday and best regards,

    http://joelsamuel.neptune.com

    from the 80's

  • woh man that's really nice, I never thought someone would play falsetta's from paco with a pick that good.

    cheers!

  • awesome

  • Thanks sekkun!! Rock on!!

    GW
