I remember Gene Thomas as i met him year's ago whe he first got started singing.he came to a friend's house of his and mine and we sat in the back yard and listen to him play and sing.he was good back then and still is today.i still listen to his music today.
how far r u from houston?....gene thomas and roy head were fantastic. probably cause they have talent. wish u could have seen them also.they do sound familiar, maybe cause they're both texans also......hope to hear from u again......larry
So, you like the Playboys of Edinburg, too?? I went to a dance at Mt Carmel High School here in Houston in 1966. They were the band performing that night.
Was a big hit on Houston radio in early '60's along with Gene Thomas' "Sometime" and "Baby's Gone". He still performs occasionally and now lives in Kerville.
This song was a favorite at Garner State Park, TX in the mid-60's. All the teenagers camping out in the park (chaperoned by their parents) would dance to songs on the juke-box in the outdoor area of the pavillion. When it was time to shut down for the night, the park ranger would always play this song and everyone knew that it would be time to go back to their respective camp sites once the song ended.

I forgot about the Last Song I Loved it all over again Linda

I always thought this song would have been more appropriate as the theme song of the movie "Ghost" instead of "Unchained Melody".

@teacher389 He sounds like more like Roy Orbison on this song. Possibly because Roy wrote it.

Wow, that had to have been a great performance!
There is a posting on YouTube of "Look At Me Girl" by Bobby Vee. Great performance, although not as good as the Playboys Of Edinburg!

In Houston, it was the last song played before midnight meaning, Get Home! Do you remember the song, played at the pavillion, Goin to the River?
teacher389 2 years ago
I don't recall the "Goin to the River" song.
