@CEOAtWork Just found a local open mic night! Easy enough to get 3 minutes anywhere...but nope, never paid, just did it for the shits/giggles. Do it! You never know how it'll go until you try
mate, as white american comics go...your the best ive seen....those opening lines killed it! look forward to seeing more from you.....congrats on your first performance! Liam from england
This was great. My first time is tomorrow and I'm trying to work up some nerve for it. When I think about it, I have a crippling fear of public speaking, so maybe this is a terrible idea.
I completely forgot you mentioned this back in October and finally just watched it. Dude... awesome work mate! Please tell me there's more and if so, please send it to me! I think you can figure out who this is.
If this guy were a regular comic, I'd say he was terrible.
Considering it's his first time ever, I gotta give him a very high score.
I didn't care that I didn't like any of his jokes, his stage presence was awesome for a first timer. If his material catches up quick, he'll be a working comic.
This is REALLY good man! You were just the right amount of confident! Definitely keep it up....you can do this man! You sounded like a pro up there! :)
@RandyJez -- shoot man, sorry I didn't check this earlier. Hope your show went okay! Truth be told, I didn't really control the nerves at all, I was nervous as hell. Just got lucky it didn't show. @ Everyone else, many thanks for the feedback! Hopefully I'll have something more substantial to share soon...
It's strong writing and really good delivery for first time, but an unfriendly audience could have sensed your nerves. Shit, more guts (and now experience) than 99% of folks!
I liked the first half, but you could have done better with the Mario stuff I think. I liked where you went with the "I wouldn't do any of that shit Mario did" in general but I wasn't feeling the actual jokes you used for it. But I think you should keep it up! I hope this was constructive criticism. From Reddit with love!
good opener. the segues were good. the end was too far away to do a callback. don't end on a call back. call the call back then throw in the ender and bow out gracefully. other than that I liked it.
lol...good job man, where'd you take your stand up classes at? There's no way this is your first time performing stand up and you know how to write a call back to your first joke.
You speak very well, but there was a lack of timing. The punch-lines came too quickly. There was no pause to let the audience think themselves wrong. I couldn't be surprised, because you were so hasty. Just like the time when you lost your virginity -- last week.
As for the material itself, I think it's pretty good, especially the Super Mario bit (because it was clear you had practised it a lot - though I would have used Himmler as the obscure Nazi reference instead of Goebbels.) I think the other bits might have worked better if you were more comfortable with them. If you're going to be "edgy" like the ice cream truck bit, then you need to go for it, not apologize right after saying it. It's important that you know your audience with that style.
Two things - First, know where your light is, especially when there is just a spotlight. Shuffling around on the edge of the "hard" portion of the spot is distracting for your audience. Secondly, you have GOT to be able to memorize a 4 minute routine. Going to your notes breaks your timing, breaks your connection to the audience and screams "I'm not comfortable". When you're doing a 90 minute HBO special, then you can get away with some notes (or a teleprompter).
not bad but you have some obscure references. I don't think most people know who Goebbels is. most people aren't that well read on some diplomatic situation that happened in some time in the year 2000. You have to get everyone, being clever is not enough.
@gadafgadaf I'm pretty sure most people know who Goebbels is. Plus, never advise someone to dumb down their comedy to appeal to dummos. The dude is funny and smart, there's a big audience for that kind of routine.
@ThwartedVillainy i disagree with your opinion, Goebbels is obscure historical figure unless you've know about holocaust war criminals and I'm sure like you suggest, every man woman and child takes that class on war criminals in high school but i certainly haven't(had to google it). I don't think a lot of people would automatically think Goebbels when all you reference is deathtraps. I'm sure there is a niche market but it doesn't hurt to know your audience. i'll just agree to disagree.
@gadafgadaf Goebbels is not obscure to anyone who has taken high school a history class or watched the History channel for longer than 5 minutes. He's the 2nd most recognizable figure from the Nazi party. He's basically the Dick Cheney of the Nazis, the behind the scenes arbiter.
Seriously, this guys comedy routine assumes the audience has a basic level of education.
Dude, if you think that reference is too obscure, I'd hate to see your reaction to a Dennis Miller show.
@ThwartedVillainy you guys can keep trying to convince me that goebbels is so famous but you ask people that are not your geeky history buff friends and they will have no idea who he is. Nobody likes history, its the most dreaded subject in school next to math.
i'm getting a feeling your either a nazi and worship him or your a jew trying to make your people's past victimization that much more significant by glorifying your enemies.
why can't you accept that your wrong? dude just deal with it.
@ThwartedVillainy lol u mad. its obvious that you love me and want to give me aids with ghey butt secks but im sorry i don't like men so that ain't happening. good luck with the catering business, and the aids.

In this video, you look like you're in "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia".
You stand like Mac, look like Charlie, and sound like Dennis.
Not a dis, just a self-amusing revelation.
