MANIC MINER - ZX Spectrum Game Review

That's a painful piece of loading music. This is definitely a classic but I agree that Jet Set Willy is far superior. I'd love to see updated versions of these games with much more detailed graphics but with the gameplay entirely unchanged. I doubt we'll see that as most publishers would be too tempted to tweak the format to add perceived value for money.

@gamerslivingroom Yeah that would be cool.... I know there are remakes on the internet, might take a look to see what they are like one day. Or I could try remaking it myself, now theres a challenge ;o)

@interghost If you've got the skills then it might be worth a try but if you are going to invest all that time an effort in it I think Jet Set Willy would be a much worthier endeavour. I just think the concept of wandering the mansion to clear up after a monster party is so much cooler than just escaping from a mine.

Graphics look a little worse here than the others. I hate loopers instead of endings. Nice job cheating. :P More Pac ripoffs! Good vid.

Yeah this was an early game in the speccy history so graphics were not as good, but still a classic! I think Pac Man was a big hit back then so people used to use him in their games quite a bit ha ha! ;o)

If you play all levels without cheating there is an ending. Ive been told by several different people, not me I cant do all of them.

Another flashback for me. MM was not best but classic for sure. I usually died in eugene´s Lair... Maybe once got to Vat ;). Never to the end-start...

Excellent game and excellent review - enjoyed the extra info you gave about the trilogy and posters, cheats, alternate versions etc

Any chance of a request if it was on the zx spectrum i know it was on the c64 its called FROSTY THE SNOWMAN i think.

Basically you had to collect snow flakes that fell and progress across the screen jumping holes and objects Thanks alot :)

I have looked up FROSTY and it was never released on the Spectrum, sorry. I did check it out though and its one crazy arse game ha ha!

I wont be reviewing it though as you know Specy fans can not admit to games being good on the C64, lol.
