I was expecting the exhaust turbine's blades to shoot out of the exhaust. What I saw was excess fuel being burned out of the exhaust. Remove any hint of an explosion from the video title.

its just fueled up to the sht, you see the black smoke coming out of the exaust *the huge plume the whole way* that just means its running heaps of fuel and running rich, so because so much fuel is going through the engine all at once, it cant burn it so it pushes it out the exhaust, hence what was burning, it just got got too hot and combusted. it wouldnt hurt it at all..

It is always bad when a diesel "backfires".

A "backfire" is when combustion occurs in the intake manifold.

In a gas engine, this can be caused by something as simple as a loosened distributor setscrew, causing the ignition to become mistimed.

In a diesel engine a "backfire" is a definite indication that there has been an internal mechanical failure, unless the diesel engine is propane injected then that system could also have failed some how. While not an internal failure, still not good.

technically a small explosion of unburnt fuel when these massive motors back off the revs after a pull. Not uncommon. But a rather large fuel bill!

Take a look at some of the vids of FC and FD RX7's and Supras throwing flame's. Its just unburnt fuel.
