Maybe too late but if my experience is any clue, your intuition is right. We had a maroon bellied conure, looked almost exactly like a green cheeked and she did not get along well with our caique. They tolerated each other, barely.

Lol, good to know mine aren't the only caiques that love toothbrushes. Plastic straws and water bottle caps are also favorites, no idea why... He sure is a good hopper :)

Why is it that Caique's love to hop? Anyone know??? I've never seen a domestic bird hop like that. Just stuff like wild Keas. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me :)

@QuietCannon My cockatoo hops all the time and I knew a green cheek named Ditzy that loved hopping, so much that one day she slipped off the edge of a counter due to over excited hopping. Hence her name...

mine does that too! but he laughs as he hops... Ours does the smoke detector and the alarm door chime...when he walks the house we call him our little raptor because he makes a little dinosaur growl and he pounces on anything that moves :) his last victim(s) my feet...ouch :)

When we had a caique she mimicked our conures! I swore she sounded like a smoke detector going off. She was an acrobatic clown too.

Yes. All parrots are loud. Of course it is all relative to what you are used to. If you own a Cockatoo then you wouldn't think a Caique was loud. But yes, although they do make a lot of quiet noises they do make some rather loud ones.
