They claim lot's of things while only following up on some. Who knows what they will actually do in the future. Just because something isn't released on a disc at the same time as an "album" doesn't mean they won't concoct some thematic scheme connecting a bunch of tracks, yet still release them one at a time. I'm not convinced Billy can stifle his grandiose ambition enough to concentrate only on stand alone nuggets for the rest of his career.

This song is too long to be a single...

Singles are played on radio so they are usually go no longer than 5 minutes. That's some unspoken rule that everybody goes by.

a single doesnt have to be a "radio single". in my old cd collection i have many rare singles. a single originally just meant that you could buy the one song on a record. sometimes the same song would be on both sides and sometime there would be a different song on the "b-side".

Like you said, in it's purest definition, it just means a piece of media with one song, and usually another song on the "B-side". Also, I thought the B-side for Stand Inside Your Love (Speed Kills was the name of the song) was better than half the stuff on Machina XD

While I agree that the B-sides are sometimes better. They are B-sides because the band thinks they either aren't as good or maybe don't fit as well, or probably a half dozen reason why it wouldn't make it onto the album.

As I said they sometimes get put together into another album, such as pieces iscariot

strange song... the guitar intro is pretty cheap. lot of repetition. eighies rock kind of dual harmonics... wtf? i generally like non-refrain songs, but this one doesn't have the necessary peak, especially for a song of 6 min length... let's hope it's the worst song of 'zeitgeist'.
