  • I don't know if you know but it took 20 days to make this scene on a lake

  • It always makes me laugh when people bash fantasy swordplay films for its apparent "lack of realism". Even though these people like blatantly fake scenes in films, like the awful flying tank cgi scene in the A-Team, or the million edit car chase sequence in Quantum of Solace, or the Cartoon CGI Chase in Indiana Jones 4 through the Green Screen Jungle - ALL anything but creative. But something innovative like this? Oh no.. That's blasphemy! The Chinese are graceful people, as are their films.

  • I really don't fully understand how the filmed the flying shots... cranes leaning out into the middle of the lake, blue screen chromakey? does anyone know?

  • such a beautiful language

  • Jiuzhaigou

  • i don't care if this defies gravity, this fight scene was beautiful like poetry!!!

  • screw gravity! :D

  • lol

  • I just lol how they're talking quietly but can hear each other perfectly so far away. I guess they have super ears as well.

  • The whole "gravity" thing is getting old. Noone talks about gravity or inertia when they watch Spiderman or Superman...i wonder why...cause they are white?

  • All i have to say is.......This film is a unbelievably amazingly emotional thing of beauty.

  • my mind is blown...

  • I Enjoyed watching this film years back

  • this place is very beautiful.I wish I could come here one

  • Kamikazu08 is the biggest douche. how can anyone easily get up on a roof. you are either sttupid or joking. please be joking

  • @TheAdamson123 Stupid, hardly. Douche - you mean yourself right? Rather than taking things for simple face value or going on the "sheesh...that's sooo stupid/u must be stupid...everybody knows that's not true", it's called critical thinking and being open minded. I actually went and searched things up to see it for myself. you can wiki or google qing gong if u wish to educate yourself or not. entirely your call.

  • (pt 3) now I'm not bashing...or being all high and mighty...my mom shared this with me (she and I are kung fu folklore junkies...we love these movies) i just wanted to share this information so you can perhaps appreciate the scene more.

  • (pt 2) actually you have extremely strong leg muscles (and probably core too)...not to mention, back then the houses in china weren't built very high and anyone with good lower body strength can probably parkour/jump their way up with ease. can you actaully glide on water & float around? nah. that's just the movie and folklore. but like the water drop, the graceful jumping is used figuratively in the movie to emphasize the warrior's skill and mastery at kung fu.

  • (pt 1) if you know a little about the history of kung fu and how stylistic chinese folklore is, this wouldn't seem that ridiculous. the floating and gliding is a display of the chinese kung fu art "qi gong" - roughly translating to "air kung fu". basically, it allows the person to have great jumping abilities. martial artists would tie weights to your calves to condition and train your muscles. eventually the weights are removed, and because you "feel lighter" you'd jump higher when...

  • I find it funny that some people Spider-man and Batman are "believable" but they have problem with this. This is just a fable... Americans love "comic books" and this is our type of "comic books". It's all FAKE.

  • FUCK GRAVITY

  • 3:50 Jet Li spazzing out.

  • Chinese gravity is not as powerful as ours. Beautiful scenery though.

  • bu filmi izledikçe küçükken çitlediğim japon pazarı çekirdekleri aklıma geliyor

  • This movie is ridiculous. And not in a good way.

  • This same thing happened between me and a buddy yesterday...ugh, women.

  • This scene, the fight between Snow and Moon, and the fight where Nameless and Snow fight off the arrows are the best parts of this movie, but I like everything about this movie hehe.

  • Where is this location? It's absolutely beautiful, and I would love to visit it!

  • @linnylinh91 It's a place called Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan Province in China. I just got back from visiting there. It is an amazingly beautiful place.

  • @linnylinh91 where is it ? is my city where are Sichuan province .......when l was yong every summer holiday that need to swimming in this lake ......very cool .

  • @black4pienus LOL:D so ur not asian.... :( but ur channel seem like u are!! boy or girl?? me, girl. i like ur channel!!

  • @superthit911 some would say I'm too old to be called a girl, but I'm a 30 year old girl. (^_^) tnx for liking my channel. I never uploaded anything myself. so it's just a collection of things I like.

  • @black4pienus ohh so 30 yr old lady?? have u watched fung-si-yuk from Jet Li?? It's awesome!!

  • @superthit911 yes, holland is in europe. lady.... lol! I don't feel like that at all. most 30 year olds act and look older than me. how old are you? I haven't seen fung-si-yuk. I'll put it on my list with other asian movies I wanna watch. is it an historical movie like this? does the movie also have an english title? I just saw iron monkey. I read in the comments that there is a movie before the story of iron monkey, called Once upon a time in china. I think it's also with jet li.

  • @black4pienus ohh, im age 11...... and yes fung-si-yuk is a historical movie. i dont think it gotta english title. but u can try to search it. I have the movie but i think i spell the title wrong.

  • there's only one way to describe flying chinese people fighting on a lake. AWESOME.

  • wow how lame you can sooooooooooo tell thet they are on strings and it looks really retarded

  • @octasquid90 you are wrong, stop being wrong, wrong person. Nah, just kiddin', we've all got our own opinions.

  • ha, this version is already cut a lot. And yet, there are parts that I don't recall watching. Is this a cut extended version?...

  • I want to know where I can watch the full story of this movie

  • @alianakiara A DVD might help.

  • @alianakiara Just rent a DVD. It's a great movie.

  • I want to know where I can watch the whole story..please..

  • 2:13 Absolutely amazing

  • I wonder how they shot this scene...so poetic

  • @Tyrande well I saw the bts vid, they had cables tied to them over the water and I think they said it was a pretty tough scene with the swinging, twisting, pulling (for the actors).

  • @ActionMovieBuff people not familiar with this sort of thing talk about 'wires'....they don't appreciate how difficult it is to do a scene like this...particularly the spinning, the graceful movements, the illusion of them soaring through the air and skimming across water like they are truly light-stepping...this is an art form in itself...

  • @dadada486 yeah, gotta love the choreography.

  • @Tyrande They shot the fight scene early dawn around maybe 3-5am when the water in the lake is very still. The lake stays that way for at leas 2-3 hours so they had limited time to shoot the fight scene everyday.

  • @Tyrande Stop being a pretentious douche please. It was a terrible scene. 2:28? Jet Li is going to stab the other dude in the back, and then they just cut camera lmao. And all that swinging around on wires looks absolutely ridiculous. 2:48? Spinning like tops accomplishes...... nothing? Being poetic does not mean being absolutely ridiculous. What was the point of playing tennis with a drop of water, nothing? Ooooh its poetic! Okay mr poet. Tell me exactly what was poetic about the scene

  • @pogoman379 Stop being a pretentious physics professor. This entire movie was not supposed to have realistic battles. The battles are portrayed in an epic, unreal fashion, just like folkloric stories of great warriors are. People love this movie for this very reason. The 'meaningless moves' are just there to show off the sheer greatness of these warriors, as if to them fighting is like a dance. If you want historically and technically correct movies than Hero is simply not the movie for you.

  • @SonOfASubmariner27 Uh except no. Folkloric stories didn't have bullshit like this lmao. You pulled that out of your ass because you do not know a dam word of what you're talking about. And no, meaningless moves are meaningless moves, it doesn't show greatness. What this is, is high school english class with kids pretending they see deeper meaning in crap even though they don't actually understand a damn thing of it

  • @pogoman379 They obviously wanted to do something creative and over-the-top with this movie, and people enjoy that, just like they always have in crazy fighting movies. I never claimed that this type of movement is described in detail in folkloric stories, nor do you know a single shit about that either since you obviously didn't study Chinese or anything close to that. You obviously don't understand what I was trying to explain before either. It's your loss, either way. Eat it.

  • @SonOfASubmariner27 LOL. Look how fast you change your words. Kind of stupid to do that since I can just scroll up and see exactly what you said about folkloric stories. Fail more. And no I understand exactly what you said, and you're flat out wrong. And no matter how much you cry over it, it isn't "my loss", since I haven't actually lost anything from watching a shitty fight scene other than a few minutes lmao. Eat it.

  • @pogoman379 Feel free to quote my previous comment. I didn't change my statement, I know what I stated then, and what I stated just a while ago. You need to learn how to interpret sentences and words properly. I said 'in detail'... but it seems your brain likes to turn things around a lot. I'm saying that this movie is a visual re-interpretation of the manner in which they (stories) are told, not depicting in detail what is written.

  • @pogoman379 If you think this movie is shitty, that is perfectly fine... because everyone has an opinion. but other people like it, and they are free to express why they like it with their own words. You're just a very sad and unsympathetic person to try and bash them for doing so.

  • @pogoman379 LOL

  • @Tyrande Watch the DVD extras. The information behind the scenes is also fascinating.

  • In the UK blu-ray version of this film this scene is cut to ribbons and is completely ruined - does anyone know which version of the film this particular scene is taken from?

  • This scene is taken from the extended version that was released only in China, I believe.

  • Hi DarkTower and thanks for your help.

There is an English subtitled version of the film with this full scene in it around somewhere as it was recently screened here in the UK on the Film4 channel.

  • Both this extended version and the original DVDs that were released in China have English subtitles (better translated than most other western versions). So I believe that's what you were seeing. This scene is drastically different between the 2 versions in that the king's voiceover saying that they are fighting in their minds is removed, making the fight real. I like this version much better. This is one of, if not the best looking film I've ever seen.

  • you know ... people don't know how beautiful is this scene ,,, to me this is one of the most romantic scenes ever!!!

Because of one drop of water over his lovers cheek he through his sort and expose his back to his enemy like that, just to take the drop out of her cheek. this is behind romance even!

  • My favorite scene from the movie, thanks for the upload :)

  • Yeah, this is a great scene. I am glad you enjoy it. I love this movie. One of my favs.

  • Thank you for uploading this.

  • You're welcome.
