I remember when i was in high school one of my brother brought a 2in1 and lot of cassettes. A friend of mine took it to listen and spoiled the tape.So now almost after 30 yrs i could listen it again . I really miss those carefree days.
Well.... the piano riffs are also an Abba trademark that is copied in this song. Realistically... if "Fernando" never existed, then this song would be considered pretty good. This group will never live down the fact that it's a cheap imitation in every sense of the word. Cheap imitation of Abba in music and appearance, and cheap imitation of the original group with Sunny Leslie, Sue Glover, Tony Burrows, Johnny Goodison and Roger Greenaway.
It was, of course, a very well made "ABBA style" copy. The song "Angelo" itself, however, does not remind me of "Fernando", neither the rhythm nor the lyrics do. The resemblance lies only in the song title and in the live performance.
They even copied the hairstyle of the ABBA girls! But I must say it is really awesome that Sandra and Nicky not just looked like Agnetha and Frida, their singing voices together also sounded exactly the same!
Ha Ha this brings back memories when i was 14 and had a major crush on this girl Ann Cottis. And with my name being Tony all my mates would sing "running away together, running away forever,Ann and Tone...shit bags lol....still makes me smile though
Maybe a low budget copy of Fernando from Abba, but you have to admit, it made the charts in UK, and made them alot of money. If you disagree, why are we all looking the song up on youtube?? - there has to be a soft spot in everybody's heart for this song x
@tonymontana1974 You've got your facts wrong. Abba released Fernando in 1975. Angelo, released in 1977, was ridiculed at the time of its release for being a shameless, second-rate rip-off of Fernando.
Bargain bin ABBA. Woolies cut price, pick and mix ABBA. The girls voices sound similar to Agnetha and Frida at times, though not as good....of course! They look so in earnest. Wonder what the are doing now? Butlins reunion tours?
@10Dec1971 Loved this then. Was too young to notice that it was an ABBA song sung by someone else. This is actully sad. They should have left their kisses in someone elses ass.
Brotherhood of Man 1st hit the charts in 1970 not 71, featuring Tony Burrows (White Planes-1st Class & others), United we stand-number 10-14th-Feb-70(UK)
sounds good

Brotherhood of man predated abba by about 3 years although this does sound a lot like fernando its either just coincidence or abba copied these.

@Kunniatonpaskiainen this is not an ABBA song, it´s just influenced by ABBA´s Fernando, which is a much better song.

ABBA WANNABEES. Such a copy of Fernando it's pathetic. ABBA is so much better than these people ever could have been.

Wie konnte ich dieses Lied all die Jahre vergessen?
Bin durch Zufall wieder hier draufgestoßen; war eines meiner Lieblingslieder - mit 12.
Jetzt, wo ich das so seh...die reine ABBA-Kopie!
