They can't say the gun myth is busted they did not test it properly in the same conditions..
When they did the trials with methane then gun was outside of the "room", I think if the gas had time to seep in to the barrel and the chamber of the gun, ignition would be more likely even with methane.
the super high speed fotage of the muzzle flash is not from the same set... the camera they broke is more like fotages from a viewty cell phone slow motion effect
@noodlespagoodle While that is a good idea, they were testing the worse case of a full rollover in this episode. They went through a lot of the window breaking tests in the other episode. Not as easy as you would think.
The windshield did break with impact. The trouble is, modern windshields are shatter-resistant - even after the glass shatters, non-glass layers hold it more or less intact. I can't say for sure, but I definitely wouldn't rely on getting out through the windshield, even if it broke on impact.
Any one else realize the milk wasn't to prevent muzzle flash from setting the room on fire it was to soak the lighter so IT couldn't set the room on fire.
The first thing I would be doing as soon as I hit the water would be trying to put down my electric windows before the circuit is affected (the car sinks too much).
I really take my hat off to Adam. He might sometimes act stupid for the camera, but he stayed surprisingly calm throughout a REALLY dangerous situation.
@DyingElement mythbusters dont pay shit its the directors and camera crew who risk getting the shots mythbusters say just dont get in our way if camera break your problem
@cowancookies That's true. Mythbusters can really come up with some driver ed oriented videos to teach us what should happen if our car suddenly lands in water.
soon as the car hits the water... roll window down... i dont understand the people drowning in a car unless they're drunk or unconcious, it really is not that hard to "escape"
@Amelia67445 Have you ever been on a bus? They always have a window breaker next to the emergency exits. It is basically a little hammer designed to smash windows.
I'm not exactly sure i would call the car myth confirmed (the part where u would need more time/air) because theres also a factor of how long someone can hold their breath, somem people may or may not be able to hold their breath longer than adam
I always keep a knife handy, for work going out in the woods, or protection, keep it right where i can grab it easy while driving. If i ever go in, if i can just roll the window down, and climb out im doing that if not, I have the knife to break the window. Just remember don't ever try to break the windshield, won't work.
@brendanraymond They tried that last time iirc - you can not do that due to immense friction caused by the pressure difference pushing the window against the frames.
@brendanraymond they thought about that with the frist car sinking myth but it turns out the windows dont work underwater as the pressure prevents them from moving
@PeteShamrock101 no not true i've had this happen to me in 10 feet of water the truck or van i was in went down in 80sec yes it was hard to roll the window but i got out
@llthpofh i said this cause the mythbusters tested the car window opening under presser and could'nt open it. I guess they did'nt try hard enough or over looked something....my bad sorry.
I don't think so. Because you wouldn't be able to get up enough pressure in your arms to break the glass. I think you would need to purchase a hammer specifically made for those situations. Something requiring less pressure to break the window while under water.
1:40 I love how they react like little kids who just broke someone's window, just to a couple of seconds later realize they were actually DOING THEIR JOB and nobody was going to scold them. LMAO.
@666BestrafeMich666 Most cars open windows with electricity. Plus the car would probably have filled before the window was open enough to swim through.
Mythbusters also tested that even if your car battery is submerged you could still roll down the window, but if you had a hand crank it would be better.
Kary TOry and Grant should have put the nose of the gun IN the MILK CARTON and then they should have shot the round, i bet the room wouldnt explode because as grant said there is a wave in front of the nose when it is fired , obviously the wave would try to push the carton away resulting in more contact with hydrogen and blow it up
I know it is not what the myth says but they should have tried it just 4 fun!
@dycarbon1 It would be very hard to break windows with keys. The water slows down your arm swing and you have to hit the window hard with a sharp point. An automatic center punch is a good tool to use.
