i love you. you are adorable! and hilarious. i'm such a big fan of woody guthie! i wish more kids my age liked him... or at least knew who he was. thank you!
@gilliancarson Thanks a lot for your very kind words. I have really enjoyed sharing these songs with a couple thousand (a couple of generations) of my high school students. Now, I am glad to have YouTube to be able to share them with a few thousand more.
Here are the omitted verses: I'm gonna tie me up in a red string I'm gonna tie blue ribbons too I'm gonna climb up in my mail box I'm gonna mail myself to you. When you see me in your mail box Cut the string and let me out Wash the glue off of my fingers Stick some bubble gum in my mouth. Take me out of my wrapping paper Wash the stamps off of my head Pour me full of ice cream sodies Put me in my nice warm bed.
Thanks, Jan. Your comments are always so generous and positive, and coming from you, it is especially appreciated since I know you are serious about and extremely successful at YouTubing. This little collection came about as a humorous interlude in the middle of the Dust Bowl and Union songs.
By the way, Bulbheadmyass is Jan Lewis. Jan, Jerry Miller (of Moby Grape & Bobby Fuller Four fame), and the rest of the Remington Riders are great YouTube video artists. Each of their videos gets more ambitious and interesting. Their latest is a medley of two tribute songs for one of my idols and inspirations, the great Ramblin' Jack Elliott (from whom I learned "Car, Car" as played in the above medley of Woody's kids' songs. Click on "bulbheadmyass" above and give her a listen!
I like this video! Great work! My mom loves the "Mail Myself To You" (I think it was a Post-Office Christmas Commercial a few years ago). I wish I could find the video for that!

I had this record when I was little; I liked Woodie's singing better!

Yeah, I like Woody's singing better, too. But Woody wanted everybody to sing his songs, no matter what you sound like.
