I like the 08's sound effects! Also like the concrete floor effect - I've got a similiar sort of effect on my layout, only I've used balsa and fine sandpaper, but it seems to have worked quite well.
I like how you've created a works yard. What materials did you use to submerge the rails in? I was going to try polyfiller or something, but opted for fine ballast. Your looks much better though :)
It is a stock item by Bachmann here (except I did the custom paint job), but not sure where you can get them in the US. A search should find stockists of European models, or you can order direct from the UK sealers, or on ebay.
Nice video. Did you fit the decoder yourself? This loco is not DCC ready, I do not think but should be the same as soldering a normal chip to a non-dcc loco.
The loco is dcc ready, but there was not room for the plug, chip and speaker, so I cut off the plug, removed the socket and soldered the wires direct to the motor leads. The chip went where the socket was, and the speaker behind the radiator grille. Holes were drilled in the inner plate to allow better sound.
Hornby only do the 09 in this livery, have you added transfers or is this a completely repainted body? Bachmann made this loco in this livery but it wasn't DCC ready.
I want this video on my Pulse Mini unit.

I think the latest Hornby 08/09 shunters are excellent. Sound is superb.

@Railenthusiast1967
The concrete would probably have been much easier to do using your method. :)

Nice! I wish these sound modules were available when I used to dabble in model railways.

Excellent shunting. Whats the key to getting slow speeds without breaking the bank?
NathanStang75 2 years ago
Clean track and wheels
matthew376 2 years ago
use a transformer with the momentum function, you can lower it slowly and use a brake, they only cost baout 60 bucks

where did you get the concrete from between the track?
cech1444 3 years ago
The 'concrete' was Pollyfiller. ;)
andersley 3 years ago
what is that and where do u get it?
cech1444 3 years ago
It is a regular household filler for cracks in walls, etc. From any DIY store.
andersley 3 years ago
like squirty stuff? or not
cech1444 3 years ago
It is a powder which you mix with water.
andersley 3 years ago
how do u make it so smooth?
cech1444 3 years ago
just smooth it with a scraper whilst it is still wet. styrene sheet does the job.
andersley 3 years ago
y has it got old cuplings on it

Is it the Bachmann offering? When I was looking at the box on eBay, there was not a DCC Ready logo.
wk1294 3 years ago
No, it is the Hornby one. Better than the Bachmann. :)

This is completely repainted. The loco is actually for sale now, as I am building an HO scale Slovenian layout!
