thats because before the invention of the nuclear bomb warfare had not evolved past the point of two lines walking directly toward each other shooting.
if any nukes go off, people will need to ask who had the power to do it and who was to gain from it!! i certainly dont believe for a minute that a terrorist group or country supporting them would gain anything but hardship and war, i can however think of people much closer to home who would!!
everyone is aware of the effect it will have,WW3. but if you think that will stop ahmadinejad your wrong, to the contrary. he is part of a group that believes it is their duty to hasten the return of the mahdi and the mahdi can only return when the world is at its worst. so connect the dots. don't underestimate these religous fanatics they think they are fulfilling gods will

This is typical elitist scare propaganda a la americana.
CERTAIN fissile fuels need to be monitored/policed by IAEA + GO which if left unchecked could pose as a nasty nuke bomb(highly unlikely)or dirty bomb.
But don't trash the science, countries or the industry that employ nukes for lack of security. Countries that need or wish to use nuke power to generate electrical power or other uses have a legitimate right to use the science. Play fair don't lie just to fulfil petrol political ends.
Author writes about simplistic security. The 'backyard' nuke bomb builders is load of BS. Some nations abandon efforts to build nuke bombs because of cost and complexity spent better on other pursuit.Pound-for-pound nuke WMD is not weapon of choice because (neutron bomb) its 'rad poisons' destroys most things in blast radius. Better WMB is one that leaves infrastructure intact.
Anti-nuke bomb or system which renders nuke bomb dis-functional is good. Best is trust treaty.
It isn't true ! I would rather say outside the sun. His explanation isn't exactly enough. In the sun there is continuely a thermonuclear reaction ... a bomb is only a short moment
Actually Tzar Bomba was 50MT. The largest tactical nuke the U.S. created was about 20MT. So the Russians developed a bomb 2.5 times as strong.
Most weapons in the U.S. arsenal are 300KT. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was 15KT. So todays average nuke is 20 times as powerful as the nuke dropped on Hiroshima. The reason the Russians created large nukes was to compensate for their piss-poor guidance systems. That is at least in the ICBM category.
Yep, imagine the devestation if the final stage was in place!? It was never a practical, deliverable weapon though. It was too large for ICBM delivery, and a plane would be brought down easily long before it got near its intended target. Also it was so large if it had been used in any european NATO countries, there was no way of ensuring there would be no damage or fallout within the WARSAW pact countries!! A double edged sword perhaps?
It requires other positively or negatively charged ions to continue the reaction. Nuclear material is required to proliferate this effect, and because most of the material around the original reaction is not nuclear the reaction cannot sustain itself.
Nuclear power has the potential to be an incredibly potent, efficient power source if you can find someway to quickly reduce the wastes radioactivity.
Next you should write a book--Nuclear Terrorism for Dummies.
And we need a bomb this powerful like we need "a tiger without a cage." I mean, it's tough-looking, and makes people stay out of our way somewhat, so why not?
Except the leash daddy bought is starting to fray...
i think b- and c-weapons are a much bigger threat, for an a-bomb you need need a lot of nuclear material while b- and c-bombe you basicly just need some knowlage in biology or chemistry and some money. plus b- and c-weapons are easy to hite and smuggle and there are nearly no systems to detect recognize an attack with weapons like this
Only a few countries at this juncture have the capability to launch a massive EMP attack. China, Russia, Britain, France, the US.
This would be the last ditch, scorched earth, weapon for the United States to use. After all else fails. After it looks like we are defeated. Then, and only then, would we launch EMPs around the world.
I suppose the epitome of worse case acute attacks would be nuclear in nature. Nuclear detonation triggering a Electro-magnetic pulse that would shut down everything electric and electronic. I don't know all the physics involved, but only a few would be required, detonated at altitude, to shut down our electricity permanently, across the entire country. This would put us back to the stone age almost instantly, and we would never recover.
Having a nuclear capability does NOT make a terrorist; it is INTENT.
Russia's Krushchev bragged he would bury us and he had the means to do it. Russia killed MILLIONS of people at the end and the aftermath of WWII, via genocide, and were talking big about how communism would take over the Earth.
If the US had had the atom bomb BEFORE Pearl Harbor, do you think Japan would have attcked the US in the first place?
The Terrorism has many definitions. In this opportunity the poster has addressed it toward the nuclear world. But it's a manipulation to say that this is the only one... you've terrorism financier, media, State, Scientific, Religious, medical, health care. so it's not just the islam world...if not also western world
After Nagasaki and Hiroshima I don't think anyone is that stupid to start a nuclear war. The effects of a nuclear bomb are to great. Till this day people cannot live in Hiroshima or Nagasaki without getting sick. A Nuclear war would literally destroy the world.
Those two cities were unwittingly sacrificed by the Japanese when they continued to fight on, even when defeat by conventional forces was imminent.
If the stubborn military commanders hadn't had a crucial member commit harikari rather than buck the Emporer, the Emporer's plea to surrender to the US STILL would have been ignored even after the SECOND nuclear explosion, apparently. One atom bomb explosion in their city was NOT enough to make them surrender, because they simply DIDN'T.
And thats a bad thing. Of course they didn't give up. Would you?... if people just gave up we wouldn't have America right now, if black people just gave up they wouldn't have rights, if Europe and Russia just gave up Hitler would have taken over.
I know it's war but America were the ones to create and use the Atom bomb. Now ironically they get all uptight as soon as a country has nuclear weapons. They were on their toes when Cuba and Korea had them.
Yet even though we have this threat, we still haven't put together an anti-ballastic missile system that could easily defend us against one or a few nuclear missiles fired accidentally or by a rogue nation. Obviously, a mass attack would be almost impossible from which to defend right now. But in time we can achieve the technology necessary to defend ourselves. This requires bi-partisanship to make possible.
LOL. :D I would. I just need the money and a dedicated team of experts. I could lead the group on priorities and deadlines. Give me a year and I'm sure I can at least have designed a limited system that could be deployed to protect against accidental launches and rogue nations, i.e. North Korea.
yes i do believe that nuclear weapons are a bad idea but there are nuclear power plants that provide people with electricity without burning fossil fuels.
Have you ever heard of unviersal photos done from the space? And by the way, everyone who was within 10 miles of hirishoima barely suvivded due to the radiation.
it is only a matter of time before pakistan appoints a radical islamist to power and then they get hold of a nuke, thats when you have to worry about your city being blown to bits. and the problem is that pakistan is very close to becoming a state run by radical islamists. And its no secret that russia has lost very large amounts of nuclear material since the cold war. infact every couple of weeks police arrest people selling it on the black market. soon it will get into the wrong hands...
The "Nuclear Terrorism" part in the title didn't have to be there, since the video didn't speak about nuclear terrorism, let alone plain old conventional terrorism.
watch the rest of the series. It has nothing to do with fear mongering, but is intended to get the public to move towards safeguarding nuclear supplies and eventual disarmament
They can go somewhere else. The blast radius of the bomb didn't blow up the whole city. However, your right. I would still prefer this to an invasion. More soldiers dying, more civilians dying, more soldiers coming back mentally traumatized, more conventional firebombs dropped. More people dying, more infrastructure going down...
Very true the only other alternative to using the Atomic bomb was an invasion known as X-day, hich would have led to the loss of millions of live (both soldiers and civilians) in an invasion similar to D-Day only taking place in Japan. Either way there would be loss of life... Which scenario was the better alternative is up for debate...
my country acts like every other country. sometimes does good things, sometimes does unimaginably horrible things, and on rare occasions does unimaginably horrible things for the sake of avoiding even more unimaginable horrors. hirsohima and nagasaki were one of those rare times. the world is not black and white. i dont think my country is nice, i think its bad and good, because its a goverment, its there for its own interests, but its also there to solve problums.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the last blows in a war the US was fighting defensively for years . The bombs killed 220K people in the cities but they prevented an invasion that would have killed one million Japanese and Americans, as well as turned the structures and culture of Japan into ruins.

Nuclear terrorism... Christ, we should give the nuclear bomb the nobel peace price... Deterrence from nuclear weaponry is huge, it has probably saved more lives than it has cost, ironically ^^
e=mc2 <---- the only way to get that equation to work perfectly is through the use of anti-matter. which is the total annihilation matter into energy that is the perfect bomb.
tihs goes for all who wrote before me, let the man give his speach, he explains how and what does a nuclear bomb do. (the title is wrong for this from my point of view) otherwise i have a question:
is a H bomb a nuclear bomb too? and how does this happen?
Yes it is. Nuclear fusion needs extra high temperature (like in the Sun). If you put duterium next to az exploding A-bomb, it reaches that temperature, and multiplies its strength. The Tsar bomb (largest weapon ever exploded) gained 97% of its energy from fusion, and only 3% of the initial A-bomb (fission).
The title is misleading, but I think it's only one part of a series on nuclear terrorism.
god! y are some countries wanted to make weapons like this? if its meant for the enemies it doesn't only kill them but also innocents and the mother nature.
but what he doesnt tell you is how complicated and how much scientific experts you need to properly detonate a bomb from physicists and mathamaticians, trust me its very complicated. you even need a conventional bomb technician
If there would be fusion chain reaction it's like mini-supernova on the earth. it could destroy whole Europe.

That's right... Atom bomb is created by Albert Einstein, that was developed into hydrogen bomb by U.S.S.R. All five steps of hydrogen bomb:
1. Bright light
2. 1st blast wave
3. Heat wave (could melt even steel)
4. 2nd blast wave (which power is like tornado's eye wind)
5. Nuclear Fallout.

tihs goes for all who wrote before me, let the man give his speach, he explains how and what does a nuclear bomb do. (the title is wrong for this from my point of view) otherwise i have a question:
is a H bomb a nuclear bomb too? and how does this happen?
masterofpoijosh 4 years ago
(sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker)

but what he doesnt tell you is how complicated and how much scientific experts you need to properly detonate a bomb from physicists and mathamaticians, trust me its very complicated. you even need a conventional bomb technician
