CERTAIN fissile fuels need to be monitored/policed by IAEA + GO which if left unchecked could pose as a nasty nuke bomb(highly unlikely)or dirty bomb.

Author writes about simplistic security. The 'backyard' nuke bomb builders is load of BS. Some nations abandon efforts to build nuke bombs because of cost and complexity spent better on other pursuit.Pound-for-pound nuke WMD is not weapon of choice because (neutron bomb) its 'rad poisons' destroys most things in blast radius. Better WMB is one that leaves infrastructure intact.

Anti-nuke bomb or system which renders nuke bomb dis-functional is good. Best is trust treaty.

Actually Tzar Bomba was 50MT. The largest tactical nuke the U.S. created was about 20MT. So the Russians developed a bomb 2.5 times as strong.

Most weapons in the U.S. arsenal are 300KT. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was 15KT. So todays average nuke is 20 times as powerful as the nuke dropped on Hiroshima. The reason the Russians created large nukes was to compensate for their piss-poor guidance systems. That is at least in the ICBM category.

It was too large for ICBM delivery, and a plane would be brought down easily long before it got near its intended target. It requires other positively or negatively charged ions to continue the reaction. Nuclear material is required to proliferate this effect, and because most of the material around the original reaction is not nuclear the reaction cannot sustain itself.

Yes it is. Nuclear fusion needs extra high temperature (like in the Sun). If you put duterium next to az exploding A-bomb, it reaches that temperature, and multiplies its strength. The Tsar bomb (largest weapon ever exploded) gained 97% of its energy from fusion, and only 3% of the initial A-bomb (fission).

The title is misleading, but I think it's only one part of a series on nuclear terrorism.
