So I spy a very good point in here. I don't know what college Dan Brown went to, or maybe he mentioned it, and I ignored it- but in college I learned ways of thinking, tools, and how to use them- I learned to perform a fucking t-test, and I DO THAT SHIT ALL THE TIME, NOW. And while I was learning that, there was this pudgy Australian dude looking over my shoulder and pointing out outliers, and what they would do to my dataset, because he knew, because HE DID THIS SHIT ALL THE TIME. They have taught us many things. They can talk at a minimum of a 5th grade level. My friends bird can tell time and turns on the news then gives a review of it when she gets home from work. Of course, there are animals that lay their eggs and leave but I know what you're saying. It may be more accurate to say the baby learns from the parents. Mom doesn't neccesarily "teach" them. Just like we don't sit down with our toddler and pull out a blackboard and explain the fundamentals of walking, nor do animals. The only teaching is through showing and possibly having them try a task in an easier setting (killing weaker prey, for example). Mom doesn't correct them when they do it wrong.
