Pwn, im 15 and in my entire lifetime i've had a total of 8 dogs, and i just want to tell you dogs are smarter then you think, they dont harm babies, their very cautious around babies and actually become protective. My first dog was very protective over me and smart enough not to harm me or other humans, and that was a rottweiler and i was only 2 when i first got him. My baby sister is 2 now, and my new pitbull whose about 3 and my pitbull is the same protective way, just get any dog, dont worry.

i had 3 dogs when i was younger. i dont remember the first dog but the second one was horrible to have around children. dont get a chocolate lab. i've had a german shepherd for the last 10 years now and she's been great with my neices and nephew who are 1,2 and 4. you just gotta make sure that you supervise the dog and baby while they're in the same room.
