@xxcheesewcxx If you don't use Grid, your basically free-handing your track.  Not using Grid makes it easier to draw curves, while Grid makes it easier to draw straight lines in proportion.

ok first off im a track maker and editor. just saying dude dont use the like when u can just go slow and use the curve tool it willl come out better and quicker than using line. second... when making "supports" to make it look accurate turn the grid on and make perfect 2x4s and such. And another thing, autos arent trial and error, if u use the pause button then u can see where the guy is at all time just pause wheree u wanna make a feature and use it. lastly dont guess the landings use pause man

Some tips, When drawing an auto, use the pause tool then keep pausing and adding lines, test regularly. Also with perfect 1/4 pipes you can use the scenery tool to draw the "grid" then go over it with lines and erase the scenery to leave no "grid" also with 3d tracks draw the riding surface and then add 3d coming from it after woulds.

You are right, however this tutorial is aimed at beginners who may find some more advanced techniques difficult. Also i find that the auto technique I demonstrated in this video is better for beginners as it has fewer problems. The perfect curves technique you suggest is also a perfectly good way of doing it but not really necessary when you have a grid tool.
