Hasn't he recorded anything new? I saw him in 1996. Love him, and just am revisiting his Black Sheep CD. Came onto Youtube to see what his recent music is like. Nothing???
@kimfiano you aint lookin to hard,,,tons of new stuff. 'there go i', 'livin the life', 'marry me', 'boom sh boom',,,man the list goes on and on....so i promise if you look you will find.
Martin sexton has been around long enough that he can pack a stadium anywhere. His vocal abilities and musical styling are far superior to Mayer...who will be lost in the abyss of yesterdays starlets as soon as his ass falls a little bit. I like Mayer...but I would buy a tabloid before I'd buy a concert ticket. However I would, have, and probably will again travel a couple of states over just to catch a second Sexton show (because he always comes to Charlotte)
I was on Madelline Island on the Big Lake Kithci Gumi(Superior for white people..hahaha).. at the coolest bar in North America - Toms Burnt Down/open air.. gorgeous Sunny summer day...and Martin was playing a the Big Top Chataqua...on the mainland..on a ski hill..in a circus tent....was the finest most extaordinary concert, meld of guitar voice creativity ...invention.. I have ever witnessed. seen Martin before..seen many...no one touches Martin Live....practice makes perfection? what a memory
@valibal Not really. What makes you think that? John Mayer is into a whole lot of stuff that Martin Sexton isn't. Clapton and Hendrix are obviously big inspirations for Mayer - I don't think the same could be said for Martin Sexton.
John Mayer's studio albums are so-so, but he is incredible live. Where the Light Is is spectacular.
@Makkitotosimew I think the point was no matter how many inspirations an artists has they can never be compared to the extraordinary musicians they looked up to...Clapton, Mayer, Hendrix would never admit they were as good or even compared to the people they looked up.
@Makkitotosimew Whether one likes sexton or mayer etc....mayer is an infant compared to sexton vocally, melding vocals and guitar, inventing and creativity etc..........mayer will never get there as he doesn't have it and never will... ask him...he'll agree
@bathetcnow Utter nonsense. I like Martin Sexton (wouldn't have uploaded this if I didn't), and I do think his vocals are superior to John Mayer's. However, in other areas, like guitar playing, John Mayer is LIGHT YEARS ahead.
Mayer's already 'got there'. He's achieved success, not only as a radio-friendly acoustic ballad writer, but a superb blues guitarist.
Obvisously I love the tune,,,,could have done more w/ the video. At least a couple more pics. One of my fav performances of that tune. Recorded in Denver in 00'. As a 2pc. Martin on guitar and Joe Bonadio on drums.
Sexton has his first live DVD coming out Oct 14th as a bonus included in his next live cd release titled, "Solo." Like the girl said,,,,go to the website to pre-order and check out the fall tour schedule, while your at it. Peace always,,fans from across the pond,,always nice. cheers
The reason I didn't do more with the video is because it means the audio loads a lot faster.
Personally, I don't usually watch videos of album versions for images of the artist. It's different for MVs or live performances, but otherwise I don't need a google images slideshow.
Also, I've noticed that the smaller the file, the better the audio quality tends to be after being processed by Yourube. Still not perfect here, but anyway...
@colleenyates And if you want pictures, you can google them. :p This was put up so people who don't know Martin - and there are lots who don't - can sample some of his music easily.
obviously 3 people stopped thinking about Martin.....no good

This is what John Mayer is desperately trying to sound like... and failing miserably.
