@gersman1962 with this guys, it wasn't "Disney on ice", perhaps "Disaster in your ass" after those guys kicks your ass so hard than you fly to your computer from Hawaii...
Paid this video another visit! The piece that starts at about minute 4, turns and sounds like a Paso doble or bull fighting music at around 4.20. I which I would have paid more attention to Mr. Peterson, @ Virgil Jr. High, my French teacher in 1979....the chants are eiry...they raise the hair on the back of your neck. Could someone pipe in and translate a little. The piece at 5.57 is a lot of fun to listen to and watch. Some of the boys have a little funky swagger going on in their moves.
@flojogrande As I leave the barracks, There is an old mill, Two joyful girls live there, And sing evening and morning, The blonde it is Veronika! And the Brunette it is Marie! The joyful girls are the loves Of all the company! Fa la la, la la la la, Fara la la la..... (no meaning just an old german tune) For you Veronika, ha ha ha! For you Veronika ha ha ha! Veronika! Marie!
@mmmm66 - Fun spirited song! There are always girls around that like a man in a uniform. When I was in the Navy ...I use to hear guys kid around about having a girl in every port or that we had that reputation. A bit shy from the truth. Thanks for the translation. I guess the names of the girls have been changed...I have been doing a little research...was the original song not...Anne- Marie? or is that a different song altogether?
@nulos00 - Thanks, I found a clip here on youtube by Nino Ferrer. Another song about ladies...lol... judging by the clip the song was either made sometime in the early 70's or late 60's. I got to hand it to them...I don't think our military bands would experiment that much with arrangements. Merci, Grazie mila
This is awesome! From someone that marched and was once in the U. S. Navy. Marching Music is something that always draws me in. This is truely on another level. Very powerful performance for what I would consider a band smaller than your average high school bands. They are super tight musically, The Marching is well Choreographed and executed. My hats off to these Legionaires! Bravo Zulu!!
@MrJimmyboy1972 well the announcer referred to the fatherland, and the legionaires sung "Veronika" i dont think thats a stupid question. i mean they wear french uniform but, La Legion Etrangere speaks for itself
Les chants sont de origin alemande: 1. Annemarie 2.
good ;)

@MrJimmyboy1972 After 1945 80% of the soldiers were german in the Legion. And a lot of songs from the wehrmacht are still used in the french army.

Nice to see "notre Légion" far of France ^^
So really now 30% to 35% about in the FFL are... French & yes ^_^
The rules to engage in the FFL impose to dont have the French nationality
Thus the French change their true nationality for usually a French-speaking country as Canada, Swizerland, Belgium of an African country
& thus really in the FFL the 1st true nationality is... the French
& yes sorry to break the legend contrary to that ^^
