(continued) and personal files. So, the backup software a PC technician really needs is the following, to backup e-mails / address book (from all kinds of browsers and e-mail programs such as outlook, thunderbird, opera), the favorites, and the users account data, with a press of a button. Then, after the format and re-install of Windows 7, to restore all these, which the user asks for, and want them back.
I really hope that service stays OK. What I saw at Mozy, is that for some reason (growth?) they outsourced the support to India. The result was that they did not understand your issues. Only after several exchanges of mail, high levels of frustration and escalation to the supervisor something may happen. Often still not because soem issues they never fixed.
Remember this very important message - reason to leave Mozy :
*** a BACKUP is WORTHLESS when the RESTORE DOES NOT WORK !! ***
@XXzombiefreak69XX fail, macs are subject to hardware failure just the same as pc, both pc's and macs get there hardware from the same manufacturers. I have my own crash plan, it includes not doing stuff to my computer that will make it crash. the most common reason for a pc or mac to crash is miss use of the computer, of course they also crash from old age so after 2 years of using the same machine i back up all important data on a new hdd
Cool answers! I've heard of the concept of "de-duplication," but never put much thought into what it is or how it would be useful. What he said here makes total sense. I'm also diggin it that CP has made their own hardware and software from the get-go. That certainly explains why they're more efficient and therefore able to succeed where Mozy failed in offering unlimited data plans. Cool answers!
I appreciate how upfront you guys are. I'm in the process of moving all my photos and music from Mozy to you and have been very impressed with your software. Plus I grabbed the family plan so our various computers can all be covered.
I am a huge fan of CrashPlan and really appreciate their response to the unlimited data backup concern that users have. Thank you, Matthew and CrashPlan team!
I've been using Crashplan Free for a long time, but Mozy's recent change of plans prompted me to upgrade to Crashplan+ Family. Thanks for keeping my data safe!

Frequent backups are common routine and part of common sense, hard drives are cheaper these days...Manual Bup of doc´s is boring but works!
