  • What a stupid protest. I might be able to take this "Occupy xyz" bullshit more seriously if they put forth a coherent ideology which 1) Explained the proper relationship between the state and society and 2) contained an economic theory capable of differentiating between the most optimal economic system and sub-optimal economic systems and an explanation of WHY economic systems are optimal or sub-optimal. Instead we get this: "Rich people are bad and we live in a 100% free market. Herp derp!"

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian there is. go down and have some discourse

instead of hiding on a computer

  • @workingclasssociety Go to an emotionally charged mob and ask them about what they think? No thanks. But since I have one of you here I might as well ask : Do you think homesteading is a legitimate means of acquiring property? If so, then must I continue to use and occupy said property to keep it? If not, then how will ownership be decided? Will everything belong to a commune? To the state? If you are a socialist, what variety of socialism do you adhere to? Marxism? Anarchism? Do tell.

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian What do your asinine questions have to do with the disenfranchised in America??

I think you're so full of your own shit, that you miss the point in all of this. Which is real simple.

"Politicians are bought, while the fate of the majority is being controlled by the elite."

If you're such a libertarian, then why aren't you concerned with this, instead of whether or not some random person has a PHD in economics?? You're so out of touch its unreal.

  • @jaynkay100 My questions concern how the "Occupy xyz" movement intends to help the "disenfranchised". How one goes about helping people depends on one's explanation for their suffering. As for politicians being "bought", the current political state of affairs conforms to the median voter theorem. The reason why your favorite policies haven't been implemented is because politically speaking you are not the "99%" but rather a fringe minority that includes people who advocate central planning. Ct.

  • @jaynkay100 Cont. I'm not a "libertarian" (a word which at this point has lost all of its original meaning) but rather a statist who accepts that the government must play an active role in correcting market failures. And I'm asking for people to clarify their views, something which doesn't require a PHD in economics.

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian So you're saying that you're a pure fascist, then, since you're claiming that government actions are the solution rather than the problem when governments refuse to left markets operate.

  • @evensgrey Yet another loser who doesn't understand basic political theory. If you want to understand Fascism then read Mussolini's Intellectuals: Fascist Social and Political Thought by A. James Gregor. Acknowledging the need for intervention and regulation doesn't make one a "fascist". But let's be real, you're just slinging epithets around.

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian You do indeed describe yourself well. Pretending that more government is the solution to problems invariably caused by government is the pure Fascist line.

Or do you have any examples of market failures that were not cause by government preventing the markets from operating? (No, 2008 and 1929 don't count, both were he result of government actions to deliberately cause bubbles.)

  • @evensgrey So I take it you don't intend on educating yourself by actually cracking open a goddamn book before you start dropping the F (fascist) bomb? Fine then. You want an example of market failure? National defense cannot be provided by the market because of the free rider problem. Fringeelements did a nice job of debunking most Rothbardian responses to this but failed in his attempt to devise his own solution. I sincerely doubt you will succeed where he failed, but humor me if you wish.

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian So you cannot actually find an example, so you try to invent what you ASSUME to be a market failure. That doesn't work any more than claiming that State interventions that caused problems were not State interventions.

Of course, you also described something that is only required because of the existence of States to begin with. If there were no states, there would be no states to defend or to defend against.

  • @evensgrey Only required because of the existence of states? First off, any political arrangement has to grapple with the reality that other states exist. You can't seriously expect all states to abolish themselves at the same time. Second off, as long as there are large groups of men with guns who want to conquer a territory there will be a need for defense. They need not be what we would consider a state (Think Lord's Resistance Army and Somali tribes).

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian Listing a bunch of wanna-be States isn't any saner than your previous attempts to excuse your inability to find ANY 'market failures' that were not actually the result of States preventing the market from operating.

  • @evensgrey You're not interested in truth. I'm done with you.

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian Of course I'm not interested in your religions 'TRUTH'. I'm much more interested in REALITY.

A reality you seek to hide is that you know of NO 'market failures' that where not the result of States preventing the market from operating. If you did, you wouldn't have completely ignored all requests for them.

  • @SystemLordNemo It's true that many Native Americans didn't have private property and it's true that many Native Americans were hunter-gatherers, which is exactly what we would be if private property had never come to Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Europe. Once agriculture allowed humans to exceed their dunbar unit, primitive communism became unworkable. Thus property rights (although not necessarily the kind I advocate) were necessary to solve the free rider problem.

  • Comment removed

  • @SystemLordNemo And how exactly does your favored economic arrangement (I assume either Anarcho-communism or syndicalism) address the free rider problem?

  • Comment removed

  • @SystemLordNemo lol, another wannabe Anarchist who is not well versed in Anarchist theory. Have you even read the Anarchist FAQ put out by Infoshop? How about Kropotkin's work? Because if you have then you have no excuse for not knowing that there is a branch of Anarchism that promotes communal living and production called Anarcho-communism. All true schools of Anarchism are forms of Libertarian Socialism because they promote social ownership of the means of production. (Cont.)

  • @SystemLordNemo (Cont.) At least watch some Chomsky videos: /watch?v=OvvGsUY7e8Q

I suspect you are just some loser who doesn't actually understand the political ideology you claim to believe. If you ever want a comprehensive explanation then read Demanding the Impossible: A History of Anarchism by Peter Marshall.

  • @SystemLordNemo A very simplistic and generally wrong understanding of Native Indian cultures and technology. Only those living on the Great Plains didn't have farming (due to not having plows, a requirement for farming on that type of terrain). The vast majority of native groups DID farm. The main reason that the formerly dense populations were gone when Europeans got into most regions is that their diseases, to which Natives generally had little to no resistance, got there first.

  • @TheAntiEgalitarian You dismiss what you have preconceived notions of, rather than having a dialogue. Instead you drive by in your car and pass judgment based from a corporate owned media. I believe in self sufficiency and a community that is reciprocal, rather than a capitalizing of each other. The truth is, in capitalism, there are winners and losers, some of which is to no fault of the people world wide. I believe you wouldn't change your position in life to take a job in China making toys?

  • @workingclasssociety I don't watch mainstream media. Oh, and under Libertarian Socialism everyone will be a loser, just like you ;)

  • I love the Glass-Steagall or Die sign, lol.

  • Great footage.
