  • to voyager328: I was just getting ready to post that one of my favorite moments playing Eve was singing 2:36-3:26 with my castmates.

  • I play young Cain in John Jay Proscenium and this is such an amazing song :D

  • Me too! I'm playing young Cain/Seth's older child in the JCC Theater Production of Children of Eden!

  • i am doing it im young cain

  • If I've said it once i've said it a thousand times...... 2:38- 2:50 is the best part of this song :)

  • @voyager328 i agree. Schwartz' song truly is a masterpiece.

  • I'm glad there's more than just me who knows of this masterpiece :D

  • My high school is doing this show this coming winter. I'm our student tech director and I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the show. I know the plot and have heard the music, but need to know more of the details about putting the show on as a production

  • @dreamtheaterfan12 check out stephen schwartz' web site for resources

  • @dontqq29 - thanks so much!

  • This very special song reminds me in character of the Humming Chorus from Puccini's "Madame Butterfly.

  • Wow...from 2:30-2:50 is one of the most gorgeous moments in any musical, ever...especially the line "what storms the morning brings, we'll weather all right."

The harmony is so beautiful...gets me every time.

  • @RandomZydeco I agree- I saw this performed in Sydney last week... this song was absolutely amazing... what a great musical.

I love when Eve sings "Look at what we've got, only what we made ourselves, though its next to nothing, look how rich we are". Just amazing

  • My school is doing Children of Eden, and they actually cut Close to Home!!! But luckily, my mom is the music director, so she's pretty sure she convinced the directors to put it back in. Haha.

  • GOOD! Close to Home is my 2nd favorite song out of all 43! It's so pretty, I always cried listening to it backstage when we did it.

  • which is your first favourite?

  • Stranger to the Rain. =D
