I think you were just failing on purpose while playing Whistler's Brother and Rally Speedway. WB is actually a very fun little platformer with a fairly original idea behind it. Starting with level 2 you just have to try to avoid picking up any items until you get the tools, then your 'tornado' thing can block the projectiles. It's perfectly possible on all 12 (or was it 13) levels. As for RS and the car being too fast, the 'top speed' and 'acceleration' options were in the menu for a reason.

eeeh, RALLY SPEEDWAY was a classic. You can't judge every game, just because you don't know how to play it. RALLY SPEEDWAY had its own editor, and a pretty good gameplay. You could conquer your own records, and it was pretty fast as well. I had many, many good hours with this game.
