It's sad watching this scene now, because Sam didn't keep his promise. Adan's still in hell, and his older brothers seem to be making no efforts to try and bust him out. I know the writers have said they've come up with a few dieas on how to bring him back, but so far nothing's been set in stone.

@ashli674 Its a certain type of supernatural creature who killed Adam and then morphed into him to get close to Sam and Dean. The Adam in this episode is not the real Adam.
