Eh, I know it's been out for awhile but I just recently watched this movie again. The acting could have been better, and the movie lacked star power, but it certainly was entertaining. I like that Cobra was sort of portrayed properly (unlike their robot counterparts, the Decepticons in their movie) in that they seemed like a well funded, ruthless military group and the attack on The Pit wasn't a total failure like most villains turn out to be. I'd give it a 7.1, roughly. Pretty good I suppose.

I Hated the movie, they changed way to much. They should have researched the comic books. The reason Snake Eyes never speeks is because part of his face was shot off, not because he saw his Master die. And the Fight scene with Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow looked like the came up with it on the set, I've seen fight scenes on Walker Texas Ranger that were just as action packed. Cobra Commander was friends with Duke???? I give this Movie a -05, I want my money back!!!

Storm-Shadow used to be my favorite character. I watch the movie just to find out that something goes horrorbly wrong. In the comics, Storm-Shadow hates Snake-Eyes because Storm-Shadow thinks Snake-Eyes killed his father when really, Cobra-Commander killed him. In the movie, Storm-Shadow kills his master from some sort of jealousy (I think) and Snake-Eyes hates Storm-Shadow for that. I give the movie a 4.5 out of ten.

I've have never seen any of the GI Joe Comics, nor have I read the comics. Im not saying that the movie was great, but for pure entertainment, it was fun. I can understand why someone whos a fan of the comics or what not, might be annoyed. Though I think they made some nice charicters by using only the basic info of the origional charicters. The martial arts in the movie is awesome (You have to give the movie credit there?)

Again, you know nothing about the comics so you don't know that the "basic" info of the characters was all wrong. The Baroness was in love with Destro, not Duke. She blamed Snake Eyes for her brother's death, not Duke. The Commander was a used car salesman before he stared Cobra and was not the Baroness' brother. Snake Eyes is the one whose face and vocal chords were scarred in a helicopter accident; there was no vow of silence. And Scarlett is Snake Eyes' lover. Still think they got it right?
I never said they got it right, I said they came up with fairly interesting charicters.
There is a big difference between a comic, and a movie. What your describing would take more than just 1 movie. Again this movie was about special effects, and giving the audience a fun time. If you can't set aside the comic book, then of course you're not going to like it. Don't blaime the movie for that.
Of course, that's what sequels are for! Nolan didn't put the Joker in the first movie, did he? He waited for the second. And a lot of what I described was in the movie, just rearranged. They could have done it the right way and saved some stuff for the sequel. There is little difference between a comic book and a movie, just what the filmakers are willing to do and not wiling to do. Don't make excuses for lazy writing. I'll bet Chrisopher Nolan, Joss Whedon, or J.J, Abrams could've done better.
Btw, I'm not upset with you. I appreciate your point of view. I'm upset with Hasbro and the studios for constantly denying fans for 25 years and counting. It's frustrating to wait for someone to finally adapt the material and get it right.
Let me start by saying it's nice to debate with someone, without having to insult one another. Don't see to many people that comes with real arguements here on YT. On the topic of Nolan and the new Batman movies. I have to say that I rather disliked the first one. Where as I absolutely love The Dark Knight. And I can definately see what you're getting at with the director of GI Joe, not doing enough to please the actual fans of GI Joe.
Yeah, I don't like the insulting comments on youtube either. So few people can debate on these vids without resorting to that stuff. I agree somewhat on Nolan, and I do think that GI Joe could've got a better treatment. It took a loooong time for fans to get the Dark Knight, so who knows? I also thought Iron Man did a pretty good job of adapting the comic to the screen. I just wish the studios gave comics the respect they give popular novels, that's all. Look at The Lord Of The Rings!
I don't see why it should. Disney owns ABC, and they've been real good about letting the creators of "Lost," Flash-Forward," and "V" have as much creative freedom as they want. I don't see why they would treat Marvel any differently.
I am the kid in blue and i honestly think that the movie sucked. It was one of the worst movies of 2009, and almost every critic agrees with me. and also, the aliens in the attic thing was a joke, because I had originally scheduled to be interviewed by grace about that movie but it didnt happen.
I simply thought the dialogue could have been much better. The action squences and special effects were superb, but the character development and acting could be improved.
This movie sucked. The acting was horrible and the plot was a joke. It was better than that lame TV show from when we were kids. If you put Transformers 2 and the first (4,5,6) star wars, you would get G.I. Joe just with bad acting and old star wars Special effects. The funny thing is that in Transformers Megan Fox is a bad actor but the hot chick in G.I. Joe is the ONLY decent actor in the whole movie. and the puerto rican guy is ok. The bad guy is a darth vader rip off. SFX is average. 4/10
The kid with the blue shirt is by far the smartest person I've ever seen on this show. Hell, he's the first one I've seen with good and realistic critical perception, unlike everyone else who would give Transformers 2 a 10/10 just because it has lots of explosions.

4:55. Actually the acelerator suits came before the iron man movie. They were based off a failed stephen sommers movie called "Acelerator" and it was acually the first script sommers wrote.
Iron man had an accelerator suit in the early Marvel comics, that pre-dates the movie "accelerator", however I thought Vinny murphy wrote and directed "accelerator"?
Well, one thing i know is that stephen sommers wrote a screen play called accelerator but it failed. you do have a point with the iron man thing. i'm not so much a comic book guy so that i didn't know.
i thought the mummy: tomb of the dragon emperor was good. and, just sayin, stephen sommers didn't direct it bob cohen did. it would have been way better if stephen sommers did it.
I felt there was some cheesy dialogue, and one or two "lucky drops," in the words of a golfer, but otherwise liked it. I played with / watched GI Joe growing up in the 90s (although I had a World War II Willy's Jeep & action figure), and you have to take it at what it is; another take on the setting for a GI Joe story.
Rise of Cobra is very good action movie.Unlike transformers Rise of Cobra actually have a pretty good plot for action movie and charachters with past.Joseph Gordon-Levitt was great as Rex Lewis/The Doctor/Cobra Commander.Sienna Miller was cool Baroness and Lee Byung Hun as Storm Shadow was also cool.
And I actually really like Marlon Wayans as Ripcord.

it was "GI Joe PSAs." It was a collection of the PSAs that appeared at the end of the GI joe cartoons, but dubbed over to make it completely ludicrous. The "Porkchop Sandwiches" was one of them. In that one, a couple of kids attempt to cook, and set fire to the kitchen. One of the joes shows up and gets everyone out. While doing so, he says "What the hell are you doing? Get the Hell Out! Oh shit!"

I've seen the movie and i thought it was medicore. The CGI may have looked but it seemed the actors were in front a green screen for half the movie, in my opinion it was too much. For me the movie was just a long blur of explosions, random explosions. I don't maybe should stop watching action movies, it looked nice but I wanted some plot. In the end, the stuff I did like was for the wrong reasons.
This movie was excellent, I can say that the only flaw was a few underdeveloped characters; however, they put some good backgrounds such as Snakeeyes which had a superb background check. 5/5

Mixed feelings sum up this film for me exactly! It had great action, especially when they got the suits, that gave me chills because you felt like you were in the suit with them. Aside from a few "what the hell?!" plot points, the biggest problem I had was Channing Tatum as Duke. I questioned from the get go if Tatum had the presence to play Duke(he didn't) and if that weren't bad enough, he seemed like he telephoned his performance in.
His CGI counterpart seemed to have more presence and acting ability than Taum himself did! This flick is fun provided you can suspend some disbelief but it's nothing groundbreaking and revolutionary and I'd suggest waiting until it hits the $5.00 bin at Wal-Mart if you really want to own it. I also felt that Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Dennis Quaid as Hawk, and Joseph Gordon Levitt as The Cobra Commander were the only standouts acting-wise.
i liked it, I didn't really go into it expecting a award winning movie, just to sit there and watch some badass action movie. And I got what I wanted, cannot wait for the sequel.
If you go into this expecting a huge story and shit, don't go see it, you won't like it.
They wasted so awesome potential.. i remeber old coomic books especially the dark ones with hard climate like snake eyes legacy and his face operation etc, the movie haved great potential for big grown up action movie with epic story line but it ended as plastic action overblown sf crap with poor storyboard and plastic joes that can cheat the death... im dissapointed badly, imho animated G.I. black hair kid was the only one i agree with. The movie borrowed too much from other movies. Explosions from transformers, accelarator suits from iron man, and their regular suits from superhero movies. Just a little too unrealistic, i'd give a 6.5 out of 10.
I don't know much of the G.I Joe but I know that I really enjoyed this movie since I am a big fan of action and the plot were pretty decent for me, the one thing I would complain about would be character developement but otherwise, 7,5/10 from me!

It was the best movie ever. You're a bitch to say it was a bad movie. It' my favorite movie. It's all I could ever ask for in a movie: Hot guys, epic gadgets, and non-perverted romance.

I can't believe I went to see this, but I'd seen all the other great summer movies already and this one was the only one to look reasonably tolerable. Good supporting cast, but it turned out to be a CGI acid trip.

I saw this movie as soon as it came out being a huge g.i.joe fan.
The movie had it's strong points and weak points.
Strong points is the followed some of the characters really good and had amazing special effects.

Again, you know nothing about the comics so you don't know that the "basic" info of the characters was all wrong. The Baroness was in love with Destro, not Duke. She blamed Snake Eyes for her brother's death, not Duke. The Commander was a used car salesman before he stared Cobra and was not the Baroness' brother. Snake Eyes is the one whose face and vocal chords were scarred in a helicopter accident; there was no vow of silence. And Scarlett is Snake Eyes' lover. Still think they got it right?

There is a big difference between a comic, and a movie. What your describing would take more than just 1 movie. Again this movie was about special effects, and giving the audience a fun time. If you can't set aside the comic book, then of course you're not going to like it. Don't blaime the movie for that.

Of course, that's what sequels are for! Nolan didn't put the Joker in the first movie, did he? He waited for the second. And a lot of what I described was in the movie, just rearranged. They could have done it the right way and saved some stuff for the sequel. There is little difference between a comic book and a movie, just what the filmakers are willing to do and not wiling to do. Don't make excuses for lazy writing. I'll bet Chrisopher Nolan, Joss Whedon, or J.J, Abrams could've done better.

On the topic of Nolan and the new Batman movies. I have to say that I rather disliked the first one. Where as I absolutely love The Dark Knight. And I can definately see what you're getting at with the director of GI Joe, not doing enough to please the actual fans of GI Joe.

Yeah, I don't like the insulting comments on youtube either. So few people can debate on these vids without resorting to that stuff. I agree somewhat on Nolan, and I do think that GI Joe could've got a better treatment. It took a loooong time for fans to get the Dark Knight, so who knows? I also thought Iron Man did a pretty good job of adapting the comic to the screen. I just wish the studios gave comics the respect they give popular novels, that's all. Look at The Lord Of The Rings!

I don't see why it should. Disney owns ABC, and they've been real good about letting the creators of "Lost," Flash-Forward," and "V" have as much creative freedom as they want. I don't see why they would treat Marvel any differently.

I am the kid in blue and i honestly think that the movie sucked. It was one of the worst movies of 2009, and almost every critic agrees with me. and also, the aliens in the attic thing was a joke, because I had originally scheduled to be interviewed by grace about that movie but it didnt happen.

This movie sucked. The acting was horrible and the plot was a joke. It was better than that lame TV show from when we were kids. If you put Transformers 2 and the first (4,5,6) star wars, you would get G.I. Joe just with bad acting and old star wars Special effects. The funny thing is that in Transformers Megan Fox is a bad actor but the hot chick in G.I. Joe is the ONLY decent actor in the whole movie. and the puerto rican guy is ok. The bad guy is a darth vader rip off. SFX is average. 4/10

The kid with the blue shirt is by far the smartest person I've ever seen on this show. Hell, he's the first one I've seen with good and realistic critical perception, unlike everyone else who would give Transformers 2 a 10/10 just because it has lots of explosions.

Too much explosion with no point
CG was too much and too noticeable
Storyline was nothing special, seen it HUNDREDS of times before.
For the first few minutes of the movie I thought it was trailer, too much stuff going on.
Like one of the reviewers, it was interesting to see Marlin(sp?) Waynes dong somethin more series.
For most of the movie I was gawking at Storm Shadow's sexiness and wondering why some random white kid was running around Japan.

I felt there was some cheesy dialogue, and one or two "lucky drops," in the words of a golfer, but otherwise liked it. I played with / watched GI Joe growing up in the 90s (although I had a World War II Willy's Jeep & action figure), and you have to take it at what it is; another take on the setting for a GI Joe story.

Rise of Cobra is very good action movie.Unlike transformers Rise of Cobra actually have a pretty good plot for action movie and charachters with past.Joseph Gordon-Levitt was great as Rex Lewis/The Doctor/Cobra Commander.Sienna Miller was cool Baroness and Lee Byung Hun as Storm Shadow was also cool.
And I actually really like Marlon Wayans as Ripcord.

Meh, just bought the DVD and was very disapointed. I grew up on GI Joe and have even read a few of the comics and I guess I was just expecting a different film. I was really hoping for something a bit grittier and mature ,but I mean I get it, big dumb summer blockbusters make tons of green and thats fine but this film wasnt made for me.

it was "GI Joe PSAs." It was a collection of the PSAs that appeared at the end of the GI joe cartoons, but dubbed over to make it completely ludicrous. The "Porkchop Sandwiches" was one of them. In that one, a couple of kids attempt to cook, and set fire to the kitchen. One of the joes shows up and gets everyone out. While doing so, he says "What the hell are you doing? Get the Hell Out! Oh shit!"

I've seen the movie and i thought it was medicore. The CGI may have looked but it seemed the actors were in front a green screen for half the movie, in my opinion it was too much. For me the movie was just a long blur of explosions, random explosions. I don't maybe should stop watching action movies, it looked nice but I wanted some plot. In the end, the stuff I did like was for the wrong reasons.

Mixed feelings sum up this film for me exactly! It had great action, especially when they got the suits, that gave me chills because you felt like you were in the suit with them. Aside from a few "what the hell?!" plot points, the biggest problem I had was Channing Tatum as Duke. I questioned from the get go if Tatum had the presence to play Duke(he didn't) and if that weren't bad enough, he seemed like he telephoned his performance in.

His CGI counterpart seemed to have more presence and acting ability than Taum himself did! This flick is fun provided you can suspend some disbelief but it's nothing groundbreaking and revolutionary and I'd suggest waiting until it hits the $5.00 bin at Wal-Mart if you really want to own it. I also felt that Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Dennis Quaid as Hawk, and Joseph Gordon Levitt as The Cobra Commander were the only standouts acting-wise.

They wasted so awesome potential.. i remeber old coomic books especially the dark ones with hard climate like snake eyes legacy and his face operation etc, the movie haved great potential for big grown up action movie with epic story line but it ended as plastic action overblown sf crap with poor storyboard and plastic joes that can cheat the death... im dissapointed badly, imho animated G.I. Joe Resolute is 250% better.

black hair kid was the only one i agree with. The movie borrowed too much from other movies. Explosions from transformers, accelarator suits from iron man, and their regular suits from superhero movies. Just a little too unrealistic, i'd give a 6.5 out of 10.

Wow. I am surprised at the reaction to this film! I thought it was horrible, and wouldn't go back to see it again if I were being paid. It had a thin plot, way too much action, corny characters and bad acting. And really, ninjas? Vow of silence ninjas with corny names jumping around with swords?
