  • very beautiful tribute

  • its Damien Dempsey

  • who is singing at 3:50 ???

  • @x123Scandalx

Think his name is Larry Mullen, member of U2?

  • @MrConnemara1991 thanks :)

  • <3 Ronnie Drew RIP you could melt the heart of the strongest man

  • It´s funny how they have staged it so that Bono should be in the middle, with slightly more space around him than everyone else and that he doesnt even sing the same lyrics as everyone else when theyre singing in unison. I hate Bono for waht he does here.

  • macgowans a hero

  • I don't appreciate U2. However, I hate the fact that Bono ALWAYS seems in a stage, and also while he's singing a song like this for a Friend.

Fortunately, there are guys like Sinhead and Shane, that always make me cry and don't care about U2's leader.

  • you can tell shane really was affected by this real emotion

  • if your not irish it isnt your fault

  • Shane McGowan, you are a legend.

  • Bono is a show-boating fool; just look at how he acts in Band Aid.

He always tries to detract attention to himself.

Horrid that he does his same, predictable crap when it's a memorial for Mister Drew.

  • shane should be doing more singing never mind bonno

  • Comment removed

  • Who sings after Shane?

  • @Croatian4ever Looks like Chuck Norris

  • Who is the wasted guy who sings at the end?

  • @zantan123 Shane MacGowan

  • @zantan123 It is Shane MacGowan the singer of the Pogues

  • Very few people admit they know nothing about a subject, then offer an opinion anyway. Bono/U2 wrote the Ballad of Ronnie Drew. Drew was in the audience of the Late Late Show that night; all of the musicians were emotional. Bono is a brilliant lyricist, frontman of the greatest rock band ever and a monumental humanitarian. To pick on a man like that, particularly on a tribute video/song, is poor taste at best and just plain ugly at worst. "Ronnie Drew" is on the U2 CD "Duals." Bless U2 & Eire!

  • never forget were i was when the news broke ronnie was gone... i was in the pissing rain on hill 16 in croke park cheering on the dubs im sure ronnie had the best view of us all R.I.P Sadly Missed

  • Ach ne. Bono kann einpacken gegen solche Giganten wie MacGowan oder Ronnie Drew! Ruhe in Frieden.

  • My irish Pride I Will Not Hide My irish Race i will Not Disgrace My irish Blood Flows Hot And True My irish sons will Stand By You Through Thick And Thin Till the Day We Die Our irish Flag Will Stand So High I Say This Poem For All the Rest Cos Everyone Knows irish Are the Best!! keep the faith brothers and sisters

  • I do not wish I was Shane MacGowan or Bono. but i do wish I was married to Andrea Corr.

  • I'm Irish.That's it!!!!!

  • Beautiful song

  • Sheesh if Bono would quit yelling out "HEYEY" throughout the damn song it would be a lot more enjoyable! Still, the song is a nice tribute to the legend himself

  • Was Ronnie able to speak irish?

  • i cried the 1st time i heard it :(

  • my grandad was friends with him

  • There will never be another Ronnie Drew......I believe that he is in heaven drinking Guiness with Luke Kelly.

  • it be better without bano

  • well, I like to see Bono together with Sinéad O’Connor and Shane Mac Gowan... 'Shane is more together than people imagine.' (Bono) - 'He is an angel near the end who needs support, he's too far gone to stop drinking, he has an illness that cannot be cured and as far as I can see the end is near for him.' (Sinéad O’Connor) . Sláinte!

  • when i was12 i went to see a small gig with my dad and ronnie drew sang my favorite song for me weila weila waila because i was the only kid at the show, amazing experience that i will never forget! your sadly missed!! :(

  • Not Bono's style of music, his voice doesn't quite fit...he'd better stick to rock, that's what he's best at :-)

  • Bono just shouldn't be there....

  • Bono is a freaking CHODE. Shane on the other hand is a MOTHER FUCKING ROCKSTAR

  • "a drink with shane mac gowan" best reading since a long time!greets from austria!!!

  • Ronnie Drew is a LEGEND!! GODBLESS YOU R.I.P

  • i grew up with his voice and the music of the dubliners although i'm german. when i first heard this song, i've cried.

    goodbye, ronnie.

  • If you're not Irish .. it isnt your fault!

    No better words said ..

  • Fuck Bono he's not fit to lace Ronnies boots!

  • In the immortal words of Shane Macgowan....... Blaergy blah blerbgy. Well said, Man, well said.

  • @mareckbamf Oh my god, i laughed so hard when i read this... made my day!

  • Is that Paddy McCourt on the banjo singing after Shane ?

  • What´s the name of the blond woman that play the violin?

  • @IntoCaves are*

  • i love you

  • never liked Bono and U2, but this song is great

  • Who's the guy singing at 2:19 with the banjo?

  • @udabonz That is Liam Ó Maonlaí.

  • Bono is a douchebag.

  • Fair play to Bono ..only his organisation U2 plc. could have got this together.. Damien and Shane wiped the floor with him in my view (neither of whom I think are Irish), and Sinead could have sung more.. just my personal opinion..a great idea.. very of our times.. thinking of who could do the same for Rory Gallagher or Phil Lillot..etc..answers ona post card ha ha ha..great song

  • anyone has the full vid? WITH reaction of Ronnie

  • I'm sorry to ask, but why do you think Bono is such a dichhead? Just asking.

  • RIP Ronnie Drew

    LEGEND!!

  • this bring me to were i come from

  • Bono isn't in the same league as Ronnie Drew, Luke Kelly, Shane Macgowan or Sinead O'Connor.

  • @jacksonandveronika ...add Damo to that list.

  • Who's the blonde with the violin ? Anyone know her name ? Guess she's from a band of bowsies

  • Shane MacGowan is the fucking man!!!!!

  • makes me sick to see sheehan and mckenna sing along with bono, what a little shitbag

  • Bono's being a little dicky in this video :/

Maybe he's like that in concert? I dunno, I don't listen to U2.

Nice to see Shane MacGowan there though. This song is really nice, and it's cool to see all these artists singing for Ronnie Drew.

    Ah, what a guy.

  • @Icewind10 "Bono's being a little dicky in this video :/

Maybe he's like that in concert? I dunno, I don't listen to U2."

He was probably a) drunk b) emotional because Ronnie Drew was present in the audience

  • @Icewind10 Who cares if Bono is "being a little dicky?" Just enjoy the song.

Speaking of Shane McGowan, it took me a moment to recognize him. He looks so much older than he really is.

  • @udabonz To be fair, his voice is rather distinctive. As is his pale white face.

  • @Icewind10 bono is always a dick hahaha

  • @tattooedangel88 Hahahaha true enough!

  • @Icewind10 spot on man bono got this one very wrong..

  • who starts singing at about 2.15?? cant pick him

  • @TimmoRanger

Liam Ó Maonlaí lead singer from the hot house flowers

  • Comment removed

  • I actally cried listening to this, :( was so sad seeing ronnie so sick, he was unrecognisable! glad he is not suffering now...R.I.P ronnie drew u are sorely missed and much loved x

  • WHY is that cunt Sinead O Connor there?

I really wish that abberation would just fuck off

  • @Primordialfan1 shut the fuck up sinead oconnor is brilliant

  • @FerdVlogs

Fuck off you cunt. She's a worthless aberration that spits on the reputation of this country.

  • I just have to ask...

What assholes out there actually disliked this? Man there are some fucktards in the world.

  • Shane is my fav up there, even though I also am a fan of Bono and Sinead. Cheers to the Dubliners and the Chieftains too.

  • the 33 people that disliked diz are some joyless cunts

  • fuckin bono.

  • bono messed up this brillant song with roaring while the music was playin, mcgowan is class though

  • @matmcdermott actually some of the other artists also roar while the music was playing, but yes you could hear bono the most.

  • Jesus Bono is a brilliant wiriter of music but he's got to be the biggest arseole ever to walk on planet earth. I went to see u2 in dublin a couple of years ago and not one local said a good word about him. Still a musical genius though just a prick too.

  • @wew0nitfivetimes i bet any of those people never even met him. how can he be a prick with all the charity he does and all the world's issues he cares about? the ONE campaign, the poverty crisis going on in africa. these are just a couple of the issues he feels strongly about. yea definitley a prick

  • @u2MRtheFLY

Actually Ronnie and Bono were the greatest of friends and met frequently so your wrong there.

  • @Carr861 if you read the post that i responded to you'd know what i was talking about.

the person said 'everyone in ireland didnt have nice words to say about bono'

thats why i replied 'i bet none of those people never even met him'

  • This is the best they could come up with?? Its shite the bould Ronnie Drew is way better

  • Guys, I hate Bono as much as the rest of you, but that isn't what this is about. It is about hearing other great musicians playing tribute to one of the greatest of all time. Let's put aside our opinions for a second and remember one of the greats. RIP Ronnie, and thank you so much

  • In this group is Shane best. RIP Ronnie, thanks god for all your recordings.

  • RIP Ronnie. Here's a pint for you old boy, I know you're smiling on some distant shore. We'll meet someday and a helluva meeting it'll be. Respect from one of the last proud Irish Americans.

  • RIP Ronnie, Legend. The song would have been a lot better if Bono would have called in sick,

  • I wish I was irish

  • @TheHyraxe THEN YOU ARE.

  • @TheHyraxe Don't worry it's not your fault :)

  • @TheHyraxe If you've got the spirit, then you're as good as Irish my friend.

  • @TheHyraxe

    me too!

  • @TheHyraxe I wish i was too! they are amazing!!!

  • i was once in a pub and the barmaid says to me 'bono...shit, he only wraps himself in the irish flag when there's a camera around or money to be had'

  • @misteromeara I think so too. Bono will never reach Ronnies, Shanes or Luke Kellys status!

  • Is it just me or does Shane seem to be currently Detoxing in this?

  • Ronnie was a giant of a man, but this song is rubbish.

  • All the 33 people of people that missed the like button r FAGGOTS!!!!!

  • Thanks Ronnie. Tahnks The Dubliners.

  • Ronnie jus a pure ledgend

    RIP

  • nice that they did this while the man was alive too.

  • I love the part of Shane McGowen!

  • should of had tommy byrne in it

    rest in peace ronnie

    loved and missed

  • Lucky MacGowan Saved this song, great performance from him

pity Bono couldn't of taken a back seat like all the other great acts singing

  • shane is the man on this one sorry bono

  • Also, who starts singing at 2:13? Looked everywhere and it's driving me crazy. Thanks!

  • @TBRock00 I think it's Patrick (Paddy) Casey but i'm not 100 % sure

  • who is the guy at 3:40? love his voice

  • @skunkinger It's Damien Dempsey

  • hey sinnead o'conner

  • Why did you leave out the bit with Ronnie at the end??? I'd of loved to have seen that bit most

  • and the pleasures will always come from Ronnie Drew

  • and he was the King Of Ireland!!! thnx 2 Bono(and he's not my fav but Ronnie will always be the King of Ireland!!!

  • ronnie drew was a great folke singer, but not the best, the best where the clancy brothers and tommy makem, ronnie did nothing for irish nationalism, he refused to sing anything political, and politicly he was wet, he was afraid to get stuck in, but still a good singer..... and on that note, bonno is a cunt!!! hes not a nationalist, hes a royal arselicker, hes a shit singer and musician, bonno is the epitemy of shitness, its a shame that that cunt is irish, what a prick

  • @TheRaulip What you on about?? Ronnie and the Dubs sang loads of political songs!! And what exactly should he have done for "Irish Nationalism"? How would you know if he even was a nationalist at all?? Also the best folk singer, in fact best singer ever, was Luke Kelly :)

  • @tony10396861 yes i agree luke kelly was a wonderfull singer but was also a known big nationalist, ronny drew im not saying he wassnt a nationalist in the sense that he wasnt proud of ireland but he unlike others refused to sing to politically because the appeal of money was greater than the appeal of his country, i heard this from folk singers who knew him, ad they also said luke kelly was on the other hand a patriot and not afraid to express it, he did sing some political songs but.....

  • @TheRaulip Ahh I dont think thats fair!! I dont think Ronnie ever earned that much did he? And who are these 'folk singers who knew him' sayin that?

  • @tony10396861 when the wolfetones asked to go on the late late show they were told no because they were singing political songs they replied with but you let the dubliners on and they sang political songs, the answer they got was yes but we know you mean it

  • How can people dislike this song? Seriously...

  • @Lovaelihn Because it is sung so badly! I' ve never heard so many bad singers in one clip.

  • im only 17 years of age and this song made me cry because i never got to see him sing live..thanks to my parents for getting me into this kind music..

  • Bonno's just a twat. Hate that guy.

  • 5:03 what an assurance of their friendship

  • Great song for a truly great guy. Who's the guy singing at around 3:45

  • Incidentally a few songs have been recorded for Luke Kelly. There is a lovely song called the Red Haired Minstrel boy and if I'm not mistaken there is also a song called luke or something along those lines anyway.

  • I love Ronnie Drew's music, but this song is abysmal. Everything King Midas touched turned to gold, but everything Bono touches turns to shite. This song was truly terrible, but it gave Bono a chance to go on TV and say how great he was, so I suppose that's all that mattered!

Hopefully some day, someone worthy will make a proper tribute to the great Ronnie.

  • @Doniedaff Agreed, I think the bould Ronnie Drew is a way better tribute

  • this song tells you nothing about how great ronnie drew was and everything about how much of a dickhead bono is

  • Ronnie was not just an Irish icon, He IS and always be a World Icon...THE World Icon....RIP Mr Drew

  • watching shane talking or singing 'bout ronnie always brings some tears to my eyes...

    rip ronnie, we miss ya:C

  • Ronnie Drew = Legend we will never see the likes of again

  • A true ledgend!!!! Rest in peace! never have truer words been spoken autherz day tamro sssoo

  • ronnie drew is an irish legend

  • So pleased to know there is a ballad to Ronnie Drew: he dod so much to spread the music. Love you, Ronnie.

  • 31 horrible people dislike to a song about a great man..... and bono wrote the song and is singing it would u rather jim corr to have a few lines!!!

  • @jcollins32 Says the gobshite who likes The Prodigy, who are just fucking noise. Fuck off and come back when you've got taste in music, and a brain. Cunt.

  • @VanishingWish don't knock the prodigy!

    They are great!

I like the dubliners too :D

  • lol does bono have a bad back? why's he bending over so much

  • Cliptop wud love to see that Luke Kelly song...

  • what a great song! Living in America now and i can never get enuff of the Dubliners!!! God Bless ya Ronnie! Thanks for all you have done for the IRISH!!!

  • what a legend ronnie drew the best irish musician there has been and ever will be..

  • thank god for McGowean , the next all time great

  • very fitting tribute to a brilliant man bono hogged it a bit though

  • this song is so fuckin shit....

  • i know it's not about him...but damo dempsey...legend

  • I just realized that I know to less of those artists. I would say that this is the song with the most emotion in it ever recorded

  • Absolute brilliant musician, i luv IrishFolk, for me its from Heaven and Ronnie´s Voice was from God himselve! R.I.P Ronnie Drew

  • Great tribute shame it's spoiled by Bono

  • 31 dislikes ? not about weather u like the song or not..for a cancer charity for people like ronnie! how could u dislike that :) ?

  • The red hairded guy singing at 2:21 kinda reminds me of the edge.

  • @dontwondwatucantkill Liam Ó Maonlaí is his name..was in a band called the hot house flowers ..

  • I love some pop music. I love a lot of folk music. They should never mix. I appreciate the sentiment, so I watch.

  • Shane is the best

  • HAHAH THAT GUY IS HAMMERED!!

  • id realy like to know wich ones have been sang for luke .....these guys are legends im only 25 years old and i just know i missed on something big...sucks

  • hi cliptop just sent you the link to lukes song

  • @madfortrad5958 RONNIE IS A LEGEND!!!!!

  • @cliptop I know your pain brother! Im 23, but what we can do is support the aspiring young musicians of today who still keep the ballad alive.

  • RIP RONNIE

  • Comment removed

  • love the dubliners, always loved the songs sang by Ronnie but prefered Luke Kelly why not a song for luke to ?

  • thanks for looking at my videos cliptop

theirs plenty of songs for luke
