I don't care how good Hawks are now....there is NO passion in the NHL...city rivalries are gone thanks to Bettman and conference play. Damn, you hit it right on the money. Outstanding comment. I was daydreaming with great memories as a kid watching this clip, remembering some of these two teams' great matchups. I liked the league the way it was with the 21 teams before recent expansion (we can thanks Gretzky and his move to LA for that). Great niche sport, no Hollywood fag stuff. Amen brother....the 90s and early 2000 was all clutch and grab hockey so that the cheap teams could attempt to compete and generate as much possible interest by baseball/football/Nascar fans. :) I remember an interview with Phil Esposito in which a reporter asked him about how it might be possible that Anaheim might be named "The Mighty Ducks", he laughed it off by saying there was NO WAY they would ever call themselves that dumb a name..that it was just really dumb. Then look what they did. :)

Those were great times. I remember an afternoon playoff game, I think it was a Friday. Chanting "Dino sucks", the line of Murray, Olczyk and Fraser scored a couple and Fraser fought Willie Plett. I also recall a seventh game where Savard and Keith Brown got majors and game misconducts and the Hawks killed the five minute 5 on 3, then went on to win the game. It was incredibly loud, and as exciting as any sporting event could be.

Probably because the officials didn't want to deal with the problem of having the North Stars target Nylund for the rest of the game. Getting him out of there made their job easier.

Outside of Basil McRae and Richard Zemlak, the North Stars had little in the way of team toughness, and more importantly there were only a handful of games remaining in the season after this one, and the North Stars were a bad team fighting for a playoff spot and had a lead (and eventually won, 5-4) in the game. Would they throw all of that away to try get back at Nylund somehow?

From an officiating standpoint, the ejection made no sense to me, based on what happened on the ice.
