I dont get the obsession with 80's Metallica. Sure, Master of Puppets was their best album, with Ride the Lightning a close second. But Justice is mostly shit. The Black Album has some great songs on it, but also some HORRIBLE songs (Holier then Thou, Through the Never.) Load and Reload were musical achievments for Metallica. Not as good as Lightning or Master, but better then Justice and Black.

I dont get the obsession with 80's Metallica. Sure, Master of Puppets was their best album, with Ride the Lightning a close second. But Justice is mostly shit. The Black Album has some great songs on it, but also some HORRIBLE songs (Holier then Thou, Through the Never.) Load and Reload were musical achievments for Metallica. Not as good as Lightning or Master, but better then Justice and Black.

Uh guys, I don't think its "Cool" to hate Metallica anymore. This is good stuff, James is doing incredibly well seeing as he's been singing for 20 years. So what if Tallica don't sound like they did in the 80s, they've progressed, they had a bad record, they recognised that, and theyre seriously trying to improve. This new stuff doesn't compare to 83-89 metallica but its a hell of a lot better than st. anger.i own every one of their cd's and their $5.98 EP cassette and the only CD out of all of that I didn't like was st. anger.the only good song on the cd was st. anger.Load and Reload had at least 5 good songs on em.every band can't have 10 of 10 good ass songs.i'm gonna buy this cd when it comes out and from the looks of the new song and the other new song its gonna be a decent album

Look, I'm a huge Metallica loyalist, they're in my blood.yes the new material isn't as great as their previous work and I will adimt their stage presence pales in comparison to their hey day, I'll even go as far as saying that they're getting older now. BUT, that does not mean Im gonna trash them like some of you other haters. My heart beats to their music, i couldnt care less if they released an album with nothing on it, I still luv these guys and thats the voice of a true Metallica die hard.

Most people have no right to call themselves fans. Bands evolve, why should they make every album sound like master of puppets. Musicians have to keep things fresh for themselves after 20 years in the business and stay with the times, attract new fans etc. When they start listening to small minded 80's metal junkies and making every album sound the same then they're fucked. i don't know why people say that new metallica stuff could not be good just because they're not like they were in the 80s. i think they just try to do something new, sometimes good, sometimes not, but it's NEW and that's what matters. Look at Iron Maiden, they continue to produce albums which are the same everytime, and in my opinion they're not good anymore in songwriting.
