Three basic things you need to know bout children... Whoever the hell you are:

1) They don't watch the One Show.

2) They're not stupid. They probably understand what execution is.

3) Following on from the previous point, they can probably differenciate between a joke and a serious proposition... Especially when it's coming out of the mouth of a blustering comic figure like Jeremy Clarkson.

The fact that he was mocking the BBC with this quote, appears to have gone unnoticed, he said something good about the strikes, then said because it was the BBC he had to show both sides of the argument.
