  • On next years tax forms Congress should let tazpayers check off which party in Congress they want to authorize to manage their money. Then Democrats can raise taxes from all those rich Democrats for projects beneficial to Democrats and pay off their own debts anyway they want and Republicans will be able to cut programs not beneficial to Republicans and only have Republican debts to pay off.

  • Most tax regulations are the result of special interests. We should base corporate taxes on the profits reported to attract investment. Flat taxes are regressive because poor people need to spend more of their income on subsistence. Peace, DP

  • @UBSCARED If the people of a state through their elected officicials decide that some service is not a good investment, then why should the federal government pay for it? Example: The people of St. Louis rejected a tax increase for expanded public bus services but the bus service "found" money from the federal government. Now people outside of STL are forced to pay for my bus service that I decided was a bad investment. The money has to come from someone.

  • 3.8 million full-time workers to complete tax forms. There is only 1.4 million people in the U.S. military plus 0.8 million in the reserves. Preparing tax forms requires more people than our national defense. Amazing.

  • @danswim11 probably only for that tax period. but still... bureaucratic nonsense will strangle the economy.

  • @UBSCARED I'm not a moron, I just disagree with you. In fact, I reject the authority of the Constitution insofar as it gives a body of individuals, such as the federal government or anyone else, power to control other individuals by compelling payment and / or providing unwanted or unnecessary services.

  • I'm so confused. I'd say it's safe to say that I'm a Libertarian, but I don't get why people are SO SQUEAMISH about giving over personal information... My main contention is that I don't think that money is being used optimally when compared to a freer, private market, but if a centralized government truly was administering those funds in a fiscally responsible way, then I would have no problem having people reveal personal information. What do you have to hide? [answer: cheating on taxes?]

  • quit getting bent over the bus seat.

work for cash, sign no government forms, and tell uncle scam to go piss up a rope.

  • Tax me on what I SPEND not on what I EARN. They should introduce a federal sales tax and abolish income tax. That way everyone payes taxes including organized crime...

  • i dont wanna pay $20 for a fast food meal. Thats whats gonna happen if the government were to do that.

  • the IRS is so full of shit

  • Log on InstantRipoffserviceDOTcom to voice your frustrations on the IRS with a T-Shirt

  • A progressive income tax does not necessarily increase the cost of compliance. Having a graduated income tax isn't the source of ANY of the complexity that the CATO institute mentions in this video. Nearly all of this needless complexity and cost of compliance comes through the myriad of different deductions, just as this video points out. Remove all of these deductions and the cost of compliance falls, even with a progressive tax system.

  • Wow. Pardon me for pointing out that the complexity is self-inflicted and that it ultimately ruins a pretty efficient system of collecting revenue. I guess that warrants being called a dumbf*ck. But I guess any comment other than dumbf*ck warrants being called a dumbf*ck. But if pointing out that our tax system is broken because of social engineering add-ons is so obvious that it warrants being called a dumbf*ck, why isn't all of the smart leaders in Washington doing anything about it?

  • jdhien yes, or tax system needs an overhaul. I hope Obama and the dems do it. It sure as fuck wont be the GOP.

The complexity is because of the greedy bastards on Wall Street, and their pet dogs -- the GOP. The Dems like Dodd are much the same. Get fucking wall street money and bank money out -- lets see what happens then

Audit the fed - get real transparency -- stop the ownership of Congress by the fat cats.

  • Flat tax? How about no direct individual tax, like America thrived under for so many years?

  • Enon -- yeah great dumb ass. LIve like it's 1750. Oh wait, fuck, we have 330 million people now. We have nuke weapons, global dependence on oil, people living to 100 needing huge medical care. Guess what dumb fuck -- it aint 1750 anymore. Get a fucking time machine moron. Send us a postcard when you get there.

  • @12FlyMe No, live like you're free. You can choose to be the government's bitch, it's just too bad I have to pay the bill.

  • Enon - thanks for paying!

  • @12FlyMe Don't thank me, I don't have a choice. BTW I'm not talking about living like it's 1750. I'm talking about living like it's early 2000s. The federal budget then was equal to what it is now minus the income tax revenue. You've been fed the delusion that we need financial slavery of individuals to pay for government. Today income tax isn't even the federal governments biggest source of income -- nearly 50% of Americans don't pay any, yet they are still allowed to vote. It makes no sense.

  • Enon dumb fuck - wrong retard. Your cliche filled ass is wrong. YOu eat cliches so you shit stupidity dumb fuck.

Income tax IS our biggest source of revenue you fucking idiot. FICA is second.

You dumb fucks think that getting rid of our biggest revenue source -- cutting governmenet revenue by 50% -- is going to solve the deficit? We are borrow almost 50% now - and you dumb fucks want us to CUT 50% of our goverment revenue.

A little cliche driven knowlege is your shirt fer brains/

  • @12FlyMe - Five "fucks", two "shit", one "ass", one "idiot", 50% of your paragraphs dedicated to insulting me/us with no facts. I think I rest my case.

  • I think the basic problem is this: should the federal government use it is primary method of revenue collection to engineer desired social, economic, and financial behaviors it wants from individuals and businesses? Well, it does, and it breeds complexity, non-compliance, corruption, and abuse of authority.

  • jdhien -- yes-- a country of 330 million - things get a little fucking complicated idiot.

A baseball little league can get complicated dumb fuck. Ever build a subdivision? That's complicated too dumb fuck. Life is complicated. Ever put in your own electric service, redo your bathrooms, and add a garage? That's complicated dumb fuck -- get over it.

  • Taxpayers should have the option of specifying which political party they want controlling their tax money. Then we all

have more control over our government no matter which party wins an election. If an agency wants funding for a project it claims is going to pay us back as an investment each party decides how much it wants to invest and how much it wants to risk borrowing. If the plan sucks as bad as Pelosi's subprime lending catastrophy the political party voting for it pays the bills,

  • Don't believe a fucking thing CATO tells you. It's just a group trying to screw the worker even more on taxes.

Their "flat tax" plan, for example, isn't fucking flat at all. It's a HUGE tax on ordinary income, and NO tax on dividends, cap gains, ect.

They call it "flat" to fool the guillible idiots.

If Congress would pass a true flat tax -- CATO would shit it's pants, because dividends, cap gains, ect, would have to pay the same tax as work pays.

  • @12FlyMe you should note that he also said fair tax...now go google it and whine some more leftist stupidity

by the way not only the rich have stoke options

  • obama is a fake, why dont he just sign a flat tax act? 10 percent for everyone rich and poor. and then make gold and silver money. that is how you help the working class.

  • it is illegal to tax me and to pay me in fake fiat debased depreciated and devalued paper money, instead of paying me in gold and silver. my labor is my live and my freedom paper money is not free. if you pay me in paper and not gold you are a communist to me.

  • F$%K THE GOVT ...

  • Hey whats up! I loved your channel!

Its cool. Check out mine! Stay in touch. Hope you got my friend request! Maybe you can sub thanks this is for everybody that see this

  • Did anyone notice that the list of jurisdictions with flat tax's consisted primarily of some of the most dictatorial and corrupt governments in the world. Russia? Kyrgyzstan?

I don't really feel that the US is being left out because we are not following the policies of Prinistrovia. A rebel province and communist stronghold in Moldova.

  • @haj890 Only idiots use ethnic slurs that

do more harm to the user than the target. The ecconomy got fucked up after Pelosi

took over Congress in 2007 so it's the fault of the idiots running Congress. Bush and Clinton had strong ecconomies when Republicans controlled Congress. Bush and Obama have both had to deal with fucked up ecconomies ever since we had Democrats controlling Congress.

  • How would you feel about tax dollars going to some black fag in New York for taking pictures of other black fags?

  • I still think this is the best country in the World, we take for granted the fact that we dont pay nearly as much as the europeans do in taxes.

  • I live in Danmark, and pay 45% of my income in taxes, and I don't mind. Instead of paying money to get an education, it's free over here. Also the students is given about 800 dollars a month. We have free healthcare as well:)

But I agree, USA is a great country:)

  • @trinamy America also has free education and it is horrible. Only homeschoolers and Church school students are achieving.

And some parts of America also have free healthcare. USA was a great country because at one time we did nto punish the successful and give their money to the lazy. Government also skims some of that money off the top and lines their pockets with it.

But yes we used to be a great country before the left came along.

  • thats not that true....I go to catholic school,im in the 6th grade and a friend of mine goes to a public school and what they learn in 5th grade we learn in 6th

  • @trinamy Americans won vastly more Nobel prizes for scientific breakthroughs than Denmark in the last century especially in medicine, so your education

seems to be in how to freeload off of other

people's research investments more than anything else, but I do like Neils Bohr

whom Americans kept from being killed

when Nazis took over your country that was liberated by Eisenhower Republicans not Swedish Socialists who were getting rich trading with Hitler while he was shipping Danes to Dachau.

  • @trinamy In our country we have a saying, "you get what you pay for". Your education is crap, and is the reason your country is a pathetic failure.

  • @MKeyserSoze you fail hahaha

  • High Taxes , Taxation without representation, overlapping multiple taxes, our Founding Fathers would be disgusted the road that our corput politicians have taken us. We need to get back to our root's ,small government and low taxes. Send these politicians a message and vote them out, replace them with poeple who really care about this great country. Were in need of some really smart independent minded politicians from all parties who can just say no to big government and high taxes! Great video!

  • this is not america anymore

  • I believe the gov't should tax us on what we SPEND not on what we EARN. The income tax was suppose to be temporary to fund the war...

  • I don't understand where radicals get the idea that Police, Firemen, EMT's, Soldiers, Teachers, Federal Employees, or anyone should work for free?

Taxes aren't going away, so just deal with it.

  • For a kid, you do a good job .

But what you don't know is that ALL tax plans are huge piles of bullshit that try to distort the picture, so that certain groups get huge advantages.

A lot of adults are fooled by slick use of statistics. No -- the overwhelmign majority of tax es are NOT pay by top half.

Those figures are distorted widly, because much income is not even reflected in it.

There are three types of lies - small lies, big lies, and statistics.

  • Comment removed

  • You want a simple tax code -- fine. Tax all income the same,

However the fuck you tax ordinary income -- work, self employed -- tax all income that way.

You can have a simple tax code pretty easily.

These bastards are the one that complicated the fucking tax code -- now they want to screw workers over even more, by "fixing" the fucking mess they caused.

DOn't fucking believe CATO, Newt, Fairtax, Steve FORBES, Neil Boortz, or Fairtax. Pure fucking bullshit.

  • When my kids were little -- I let them cut candy bar in half to share. One kid cuts it -- the other picks which half they get. Amazingly even cuts that way.

What unearned income folks have done, is distort and confuse the shit out of the public.

Give workers the deal CATO wants to give the idle rich -- and make the idle rich pay what CATO had planned for the workers.

The idle rich would scream fucking bloody murder.

Tax all income the same - quit this bullshit deception.

  • Cato wants ONLY workers to pay taxes dumb fuck - no one else. ONLY those who actuallly work pays taxes with CATO s plan.

Investors, cap gains, leverage buy outs, nake shorts, all that great shit -- no fucking tax at all -- if Cato had its way.

Cato wants ALL taxes on workers dumb fuck. They wont say it that way -- they just eliminate taxes on everyone BUT workers -- so thats how it works out.

  • Taxed

    Enough

    Already

  • don't believe a fucking word CATO tells you -- they exist to make loopholes for the rich.

Their wet dream, their hard on, is to have ONLY workers pay taxes. I kid you not.

Behind all CATO double talk, their basic plan is to have NO taxes for capital, and ONLY tax labor.

They claim capital is "risk" and therefore should not be taxed. Muther fucker -- we who work risk all the fucking time, ever roof a house mother fucker?

Capital is risk? Mother fucker, did you see the bail out?

  • Even though the richest half of the population pay over 95% of taxes, through incoem taxes alone. So yeah, only the poor worker would suffer, the rich would be unaffected. They're against the bailouts, which are the things that allow the rich to keep getting richer.

  • Who the hell told you the richest pay 95% -- don't believe that. Its misleading

Technically, the top half might pay 95% of the income tax, Im not sure.

But work is taxed 300% higher than unearned income -- two people both making 100K, the one that worked their ass off for it, could pay 45K in taxes.

The guy who got 100K from unearnd might pay ZERO or 5K.

So statistics are alwys used to lie about taxes.

Tax all income types the same.

  • Yeah, top half (as I said), pay the overwheling majority. the solution however, is just simplify tax to, for example, 10% of all money you receive. (with say $10,000 free for the poor).

  • Fuck the IRS.

I made 82k last year and paid less than 3k in taxes.

    IRS can suck a dick.

  • Good to see these concerns that I share aired.

    Rated and subscribed.

  • sorry guyz!!!will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck! good job on ur video

  • It don't matter what kind of tax system we have. Obama wants your money, he will take as much as he wants.

  • would it be fair to assume that flat tax harms lower earners than higher ones? Granted its proportional but the difference of 10% to a person earning 30k is much greater in overall purchasing power than it is to a person on 300k. Taxation isn't merely about simplicity, its about redistribution of wealth as well - even libertarians will find some common ground on that point. So progressive but simple taxation would be preferable.

  • It's fact that necessities such as food, clothing shelter are a greater portion of a $30k income than they are of a $300k income.

  • The Fair Tax sounds Great but....There is not a chance in Hell the Democrats, Republicans or even the Pentagon will let it happen. The game is Rigged!!!!

  • RIzky Fairtax is a bunch of shit, it pretends to get most government revenue by taxing the government.

    Google Fairtax absurdity.

  • @Rizky06 That is the reason you should find out before you vote which candidate is in favor of the Fair Tax.

  • The flat tax and the fair tax might be good alternatives to how we are taxed now, but that only alters how the government taxes us. It still doesn't address the bigger issue of how the government is wasting tax dollars on wasteful inefficient programs like the Department of Agriculture.

  • Hybrid where are you getting these numbers you moron. Maybe you would like to revise your post yet again. If you cannot understand how the fair tax redistributes the tax burden you are an idiot. Perhaps you should keep your mouth shut. (Hint it has something to do with savings).

  • It might help if I know which post of mine you're responding to. The fair tax seems like it would put most of the burden on middle class earners, since people making several hundred thousand to millions will keep most of it invensted and buy products overseas and the poor and near-poor will recieve huge prebates.

  • A flat tax would tax everyone equally and lessen the burden not only on the top one percent, but on the middle class as well. The top 1% pays 72% of all the monies collected in taxes by the federal government. How is that fair? Punishing people for being "too successful"? It only punishes people for pursuing the American Dream and rewards those who don't want to take responsibility for themselves. Communism! Here We Come!

  • Not even close to being accurate. The top 1% of earners pay approximately 35% of federal taxes but make about 20% of total annual income in the united states (which isn't their net wealth, which is much higher). Get your facts straight.

  • Well, I don't know where you get your information from but I get mine from C-SPAN and the IRS. So I guess C-SPAN and the IRS must be giving out wrong info since you're right.

  • I posted a link to an irs webpage, but I guess youtube doesn't allow that.

I got my info off of the IRS website. I'd be glad to point it to you if you pm me.

  • @Flamingo822 With the Fair Tax, there will be no more income tax. With the Flat tax, you pay that tax on top of the income tax. Which sounds better to you?

  • I love the end. "All these terrible shithole countries have flat taxes, why can't we?"

  • Knowing the CATO is behind this video sums up all you need to know. While their ideas sound good, it all comes down to the typical GOP's single issue - Lowering Taxes for the Rich. Both a flat tax and a national sales tax would drastically lower taxes on that Top 1%. Since they already control between 50-60% of the nations wealth (and that % is increasing every year), they need another tax cut like a hole in the head. With the rich are paying much less, everyone else makes up the difference.

  • Why can't the tax code be simplified? George Will has given the answer on many occasions:

The entire code -- and the regulations which interpret the code -- is 70,000 pages. Every single line of the code has its own constituency.

  • the only ppl who should be whining are the super rich. but fuck those ppl.

  • yeah, screw ppl like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Warren Buffet. What have they ever done for us?

They took our money! (that we voluntarily gave to them in exchange for stuff we wanted)

Ever get a job from a poor person?

  • cry about it

  • "cry about it "

Well at least you have a reasoned, cogent argument.

  • thank you gentleman

  • Any reform needs to start with getting rid of Rangel and electing politicians who seek to serve their constituents rather than rule them as if we were their loyal servants.

  • flat or fair tax - and then start voting out any politician who is absconding with tax dollars for "pet projects"

let each care for self and all will be cared for

let each state care for self and each will be cared for

no state should be obligated to pay for another state

create reasons for people moving & starting business

gov't can give loans, not entitlements, so such cities can create such opportunity

    equality = opportunity, nothing more!

  • I'm also in favor of the FAIR Tax. I think it has a ton of useful applications.

  • New Jersey has a flat tax?? Isn't that a Northeast liberal state?

  • My tax return and check are soaking in tea right now.

  • Why don't we all just stop paying. I'll start the movement. Righttttttttttttt Now!

  • How about no fair tax AND no flat tax?

  • Wow, that would suck. No police, no firefighters, no military, no roads, old people starving in the streets, no education for the poor, increased social stratification, unsanitary food since their would be no FDA, no running water, etc.

The government does a lot for you that you're simply too blind to notice. The government isn't necessarily a bad thing.

  • The federal government ran for 130 years without direct taxes on individuals. This would still be possible if it were possible for government to limit itself to constitutional powers. Most of the services you're talking about are, and should properly be, provided at the state / local level or by private organizations, and would not be affected by limiting the federal government to it's legal powers. Indeed, federal involvement in these services seems to make them worse and worse!

  • fish dumb fuck - the "general welfare" is what our federal government was formed to provide. Got that retard?

The "General welare" is a constitutional power you dumb fuck. Says so in the Constitution dumb fuck.

No - you may disagree with how Congress and the PResident do that -- fine. Vote against them dumb fuck. That's called representitive government idiot.

  • @12FlyMe dumb fuck

"General Welfare" means measures equally benefiting all citizens dumb fuck

Taking my money and giving it to people because they don't have a job doesn't benefit me dumb fuck

Taking my money and giving it to farmers to prop up the price of corn doesn't benefit me dumb fuck

Taking my money and giving it to people who don't have health insurance doesn't benefit me dumb fuck

    This is not "general welfare"

  • @12FlyMe dumb fuck

Our government was not formed to provide "General Welfare" dumb fuck, it was formed to "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity"

NO government has any right to take my property, especially to use it to create more dumb fucks like you.

Take your dumb fucking ass and go read some dumb fuck books

    Dumb fuck

  • I like Fair Tax better than Flat Tax. Flat Tax still takes from what you earn meaning that you still work or the government for some time.

  • I agree, the only problem is we'd have to repel the 16th amendment. Last thing we want is a national sales tax AND income tax.

  • The lawmakers can still sneak in their own pet loop holes with the fair tax, by making certain goods tax exempt. The flat tax would avoid that (in theory)

  • I'd still prefer the fair tax. Besides, the size of government would be so small with a fair tax it wouldn't matter.

  • Except that the Fair Tax is a regressive taxation scheme which unfairly puts the tax burden on low-income earners.

  • Ah yes. That old arguement. All it does is get rid of all other taxes and tax people 23% of what they spend. To a person that does not have a lot of money it won't be that much, ex. 23 cents to their dollar, but to rich people it will be a lot, ex. 23,000dollars to their 100 grand. Both will be able to live well under these taxes because for the lower class it's not a lot of money and although it is a lot to the rich they have so much money it ultimately won't affect them either.

  • Except after you make a certain amount of money, there isn't a need to spend it anymore, whereas most poor people are going to spend most of their money. Since a large portion of money that rich people own wouldn't be taxed, poor people would pay a far larger percentage of what the government relies on than the percentage of money out in the world. So although the top %20 make %60-70 percent of the wealth, the poorest 80% would be providing the government with %60 of the money it uses.

  • That doesn't make any sense, especially when you compare it with the current tax code. If you compare our current tax code with the Fair Tax the poor would actually save 6.3% of their income. I know that's not a lot, but it contradicts what you said. Also, the rich currently pay 53.5% income. Under the Fair Tax it would still be pretty close, 45.9%, but how much more of their money do you want? That's not the mega rich either. It's the people just above 200,000.

  • Yeah, I see some of the problems with my last post. I went and read a little bit more about the Fair Tax and I realized that the government would send out a "prebate" to the poor making their effective tax rate 0% or possibly less and those twice above the poverty line would only pay apprx. 11.5%. So in essence, the fair tax would put a larger percentage of the tax burden on the rich than the poor, just like our current system does. Why do you support it again?

  • Because it's far less complicated than the current tax code. Aside from the current tax code being a mess it has thousands of loopholes added in at the request of big corporations for them to exploit, mostly banks. Not only that, but it would reduce the size of the tax code from I think 20 1,000 page books to a 132 page pamphlet. No changes can be made to it either. It also charges people only on what they spend so if the rich don't want to lose so much money maybe they should save it.

  • CATO needs to become a market anarchist think tank.

"There can be no such thing as "limited government," because there is no way to control an entity that in principle enjoys a monopoly of power... "-

Joseph Sobran, The Myth of "Limited Government"

  • Agreed!!!

  • I don't agree with you or Mr. Sobran. There can be a limited government and the rule of law which this country is based on was originally intended to be a "limited anarchy" (my twist for your benefit). A distributed oppression made possible by complete anarchy is just as awful as a concentrated one. Social contract such as that laid out by Locke, Montesquieu and others is requisite for civil society. Human nature does not further the common good without the rule of law. We only need just law.

  • Limited anarchy and limited government are contradictions in terms. Government from Latin means to control and Anarchism in Greek means no rulers. Social contracts are just statist myths and Anarchism is not "just do whatever you want to anyone else without their consent." It is also not against law, but the monopolization over a given territory of law making and legal privilege which is what a state is.

  • The common definition of anarchy I use is: "a state of lawlessness and disorder ". People respecting the consent of others is a social contract. That is exactly what it means. That is the most limited form of government and derives from the consent of the people. It does not protect from those that do not respect that rule of consent. Any system not based on the Rule of law over the renegade will be doomed to failure. We agree more than we don't, but our definitions vary.

  • Well that is not the definition of political anarchism. Anarchism is for the elimination of coercion or the initiation of force. Voluntary organizations and social contracts that people accually consent to is fine. Maybe these videos with help

  • @overmind25

There have been societies with limited government -- 19th century Britain, 19th century United States, Hong Kong, Singapore -- but there have been no stateless societies which have had the same success. You have a better shot at going back to a limited government than an anarchist society.

  • In 2006 I payed H&R block $80. This year I payed $180, nothing changed except the price...

  • The Value of the $ changed, is what happened...

  • The dollar only lost 20%. But the price increase was way over 100%
