I also hope all my Catholic friends have read and memorized all the Ecumenical Councils of the Catholic Church. I have given it a quick gander and Im quite sure that every Catholic at some time has been "Anethema" by the Pope. It states explicitly that when you venerate Mary or Saint or Jesus that you are also to venerate the pictures and statues as well because according to Pope ex cathedra you must worship the image as well as the person. I hope noone has thrown away their Dashboard Mary
@JesusNonEnviromental Bible can be misinterpreted by you, so no wonder catechism and letters of the pope can be misinterpreted by you who are not catholic. I will argue no more regarding this since never in two thousand years taught us to worship Mary and the images or statues. its only you along with some of your narrow minded non-catholic believers insist that.
@bjcasper Then you are not Catholic, but a Christian in a congregation that is ignorant of their teachings and that is my hope for all are still worship our Lord in that assembly. I am reading all the Ecumenical Councils and they are infallible and if you spoke out against any of their teachings you would be excommunicated. @JesusNonEnviromental I really cannot measure your point of view. You are insisting that it is in the teaching of the Catholic Church to worship Mary and the images. And because I say it is not the teaching and we do not worship Mary and the images makes me not a Catholic? You are making me laugh. Your mind is clouded. For you it is an absolute already that RCC did teaching this abomination.
It was Ambrosius that is quoted " When in Rome, do as the Romans do" Well isnt that coincidental that we have a man that wants to act as the polytheists in Rome by creating another idol, "the eucharist wafer", I didnt say eucharist because that word deserves to be used correctly and with honor. The wafer in catholic doctrine is to be worshiped not just eaten
Anybody curious, You should do a study of that ridiculous hat, Its called a Dagon Fish Hat for the laity its called a Mitre. Mighty close to the word Dragon which you will find plenty of Dragons in the Vatican which is rather strange for the so-called "One Church" would use a Dragon on their shields of Battle back in the Crusades. Dragon of course is the symbol of Satan in Revelations 20:2
Brief History of the teaching of the Eucharist. It seems the teaching only dates back to the 1200s, only 300 yrs before the Reformation to end the Apostacy.
The teaching started with Ambrosius Aurelianus 340 AD
It was Later taught by Pashasius Radbertus 831 AD
It didnt become Roman Catholic Church Doctrine until 1215 under the edict of Pope Innocent III
We don't use historical record to reveal the Truth of God, but we can use it to reveal the Lies of Men, Theres a big difference
@JesusNonEnviromental Your history of Eucharist is lousy. The breaking of bread has been passed down from the apostles themselves to generations and to the next generations. The people you mentioned only emphasized the essence of the Eucharist. Word of advise, when you search for Truth and history, prejudice should be excluded. The subject of the History of the Eucharist is very long. The comment box would not enough to cover all.
@bjcasper That is the Catholic Record You'll need to talk to the Pope, I have no interest in the writings of men. You use their catechisms so I thought you might be interested in their historical record.
@TheChurchAuthentic Actually, you're wrong. The understanding of Transubstantion and its subsequent ex cathedra by Papa Innocent wasn't until The Ecumentical Council in 1215. This is the Roman historical record so you take it up with them. All congregations have been celebrating the Lords Supper since our Lords ascension but this new teaching came into existance and voted on by your Bishops in 1215. St Ambrose is said to be the teacher of this because he was a noted Mystagogy 325AD
"Transubstantiation" is the best term the Church could employ to define what takes place in the Holy Eucharist. The substance of bread and wine are changed but the "accidents" remain. Although it tastes, smells, feels and appears like bread and wine, it has been literally changed into the Body and Blood of Christ. What occurs is deeply rooted in Christian history. This we call transubstantiation.
@TheChurchAuthentic The heresy and blasphemy does not occur in the hearts of men until the Memorial or Thanksgiving or Feast is understood to be a "Sacrafice" for sins which is the sole heresy of the Catholic religion. The Catholic religion has a false priesthood that immitates the OT priesthood which was done away with when the True Highpriest would offer Himself as a Sacrafice. There is no New testament Priesthood to act as a mediator or to give sacrafices on an altar any longer
The Catholic Church cannot be guilty of heresy because the deposit of faith contains all truth in spiritual matters pertaining to man's salvation. Our Lord founded an infallible Church which can only refute heresy when it rears its ugly head.

@savedaair i am a roman catholic so catholics worship mary, and nuns dont really marry Jesus, they worship him. And in the Catholic Bible it does not say where or when people marry Jesus. and that isnt really a pratice
P.S Catholicism started in Israel and Roman Catholicism started in Rome
@bjcasper According to the Pope in 1950, The Virgin Mary, (still a virgin after being married to Joseph for 30 yrs hmmmmm) was caught up in heaven. Of Course this infallible decree by the Pope which was spoken ex cathedra was hidden from the enlightened until 1950 which makes the thing more ludicrous. By the way, Since the Pope has spoken ex cathedra if you Catholics do not believe this the the Pope says, "Let you be anathema" which is some really bad stuff
Since Vatican II, the Roman Catholic Church has changed radically. Their Mass has become secularized and dogmas added that have nothing to do with early church theology. These should be the reasons to NOT become Catholic. Thank God for preserving the Orthodox Church. On another note, Jesus spoke against human pride.
@baldonebear The dogmas and changes added are: immaculate conception, purgatory, original sin, use of unleavened bread in communion, baptism by thrice sprinkling versus full immersion, changes in fasting according to the church, a simple half hour 'mass" with priest facing the congregation, the fillioque addition, and papal infallibility.
@baldonebear The use of unleavened bread- adopted after AD1054.Immaculate conception defined in 1854. Purgatory adopted around the 12th and 13th centuries. Filioque added sometime around 1014. Papal infallibility
was defined at the First Vatican Council in 1870. Non of these dogmas were part of the early Church.
Unleavened bread was used at the Lord's Supper, as that was the bread that was used during the Passsover.
The dates that you give for IC and purgatory are merely the dates they were fully articulated or made official doctrine, though these beliefs and understandings were around from the start.
Purgatory is word used to define a place that even the Jews themselves believed in.
Papal primacy has always been round. It was the major cause of the East/West Schism.
@baldonebear "Purgatory is word used to define a place that even the Jews themselves believed in."
Wrong, this is written in I believe Maccabees which is considered to be not God inspired as proclaimed in 61 AD. This book was not accepted by the Jews. Therefore, they did not believe in purgatory.
Purgatory was introduced as a control tool that was used to raise money for the church.
@baldonebear In Luke 22,19, it states,"He took bread," meaning leavened bread. If it was unleavened , it would have stated as such.In the Greek texts the word "artos' was used. Azumos in Greek is unleavened. This is translated as leavened. The first Christians used leavened bread for the celebration of the Sacrament.(Acts. 2,42-47). The Catholic dogmas on purgatory, original sin, and even the immaculate conception are quite different to the theology of the early Church Fathers.
Once Christianity spread to the Grco-Roman world, that is true concerning leavened bread.
However, at the Jewish Passover, which Christ was celebrating when he institiuted the Lord's Supper, unleavened bread was used. This is where the historical, cultural and sociological aspects of interpreting the text are important.
Before we move on, I ask a second time: Are you part of the Eastern Orthodox Church?
@baldonebear In Luke 22,19, 'He took Bread". Meaning "leavened" bread. Otherwise it would have said; "He took "unleavened " bread". In Scriptures the two were always defined as such. Yes, I am an Orthodox Christian.
It should also be noted that when Azumos (the word for unleavened) is used as the adjective, it is in referrence to the Paschal celebration of the Jews. This occurs no more than 3 times in the entire NT.
In 1 Corinthians 5:7-8 we see the anoalogy of purging ourselves spiritually, and "unleavened" (azumos) is used.
Be careful to not take a liturgical tradition and make it a dogma.
I will say, leavened or not, that is not what is important.

@vasilyjc1955
1. Sprinkling is really non existent. Babies are infused, while adults are immersed.
2. Half hour Mass? Only during the week.
3. What evidence do you have that some of these items were not part of early church theology, and what timeline do you consider early church?

One issue here...I realize that the EOC's use unleavened bread, as did the the West until in many areas until the 9th century.
However....
Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper at the Passover. That is a fact.
It is also a fact that at Passover, only unleavened bread was used.
With this, item, I am cuirous why it is a major with you?
