@eluko79 Thanks for the info. I am waiting for the panavise suction cup to arrive to use it with my Sony DSC W290. My camera is heavier than yours but hopefully the video is not shaky. Your videos are very stable even on concrete roads. Good work!
@TheDeen114 I have both. The anti-shake on the 3rd gen can make time lapses look twitchy sometimes but the improved color balance is what makes it a better camera.
That is such a nice nintendo-like song! And that is a nice freeway, too. Anyway, I filmed St. Louis just this past friday, and I have some Tennessee videos to work on, too before I get to the STL videos. Did you go up the Arch while you went to STL? If not, I did and I filmed at the top.
Yay! I go to Peoria a couple times a year. Gotta eat at Avanti's and at Steak & Shake while I'm there. Got my protective cover for my phone in Peoria, and my future father-in-law is a retired engineer for Caterpillar
the old I-74 in Peoria made me want the Highway 40 in St. Louis (pre rebuild Highway 40) back so bad. I made couple trips on the old version of 74 back in the late 90s when my high school went to basketball state tourney two years in a row.
This was really nice to see again! I only live about 120 miles from here. Just don't get over to Peoria that often any more. IL Dot really did a nice job on redoing I 74 right thru the city!! Looks like it would be lot's easier to get thru there now! Last time I was around Peoria, I used the I 474 bypass both east and westbound. Thanks for posting! 2 thumbs up! Gread video! Mark in Iowa.
Wow, I would have never guessed how nice of a freeway this is. It looks more modern than some of Chicago's interstates. They did a great job at reconstructing this. Nice to see you back with a new video!
@FreewayTitan I did a 5 day loop through the midwest starting in Chicago, then STL, KC, St. Joseph, Omaha, and Des Moines. I got about 20 videos, maybe 15 to work with.
@eluko79: Please tell me that you recorded the newly reconstructed I-64/US 40 through St. Louis?? I've been waiting for *anybody* to record that stretch. Hoping you were able to get in US 71 through the southern half of KC, too.
Nice video! This highway is certainly much more interesting than what I would've had guess from Peoria. Haven't seen a video from rural Illinois (i.e. outside Chicago) before.
Every state one goes look so different.

I remember this highway before they redid it. It was falling to pieces! They did a great job with it. Wished my productions looked as good as yours!

EXCELLENT! I especially like the way the road signs appear in the video; what software did you use for that? It's a great touch!
ChrisK529 8 months ago
@ChrisK529 Thanks. I use windows paint with the highway gothic font to draw the signs, and sony vegas to edit the videos.

I drove that stretch right after the massive reconstruction ended, it is a nice piece of Interstate.

@eluko79 Is your flip 3rd gen or 2nd gen. I am debating whether to get the 3rd gen 2 hr version which has electronic image stablization.

@TheDeen114 I have both. The anti-shake on the 3rd gen can make time lapses look twitchy sometimes but the improved color balance is what makes it a better camera.

That was a great video. Loved the way you did the Google Maps "fly in" and the signs.
BTW, Peoria is the hometown of singer Dan Fogelberg and comic Richard Pryor.
l
There's even a Dan Fogelberg Memorial, an "honorary" Fogelberg Parkway, and one of the streets is named for Richard Pryor (IIRC).

@georgiaroadgeek Oh wow I forgot about Richard Pryor being from here. I loved watching his movies back in the day.

Nice work. Did you film this on a Sunday? Otherwise, I'd have to say that the 55MPH limit is under posted. Thanx for the ride.
necroslair 8 months ago
@necroslair Thanks. I'd have to agree. With modern cars and an interstate like this, the default 55 is to low. It was around 4pm on a Wednesday.
