Try running even a compact fluorescent bulb for any meaningful amount of time with a bicycle generator and you will discover just how ridiculous this idea really is.
Moreover, people want to do meaningful things with their lives. Active people tend to spend their energy doing these things instead of riding stationary bicycles all day.
this video is great. Convert some fat people into energy :) What a wonderfull idea. and I have another great idea. One typical USA citizen uses extreme amount of energy. Kill one american and you save enough energy for 25 another poor people in developing country. One killed USA fatbastard= energy consumtion will be reduced. Kill all american(or at least one half of them-every with SUV and big house) and will be no more wars for oil.
This is real solution of energy crises and climate change.
ALL fossil fuel powered gadgets serve to increase human carrying capacity, they do jobs for humans more energy-efficiently than humans can, and using the stored energy in oil.
When oil runs out, there's no way we can sustain the same number of humans.
Fossil-Fuels = TEMPORARY human population-boom.
Global 1child policy starting now is the only humane way to gracefully transition to a sustainable post-oil future
"Why are the oil companies tricking people into beleiving that alternative energy is difficult to obtain?"
Because it is. If you can power something with Hydrogen, how much does it cost to get the Hydrogen into a usable form?
If you use electricity, how do you offset the cost of constantly charging and insanely expensive batteries? Nuclear power would help this effort but there's still the cost of the battery.
Solar? Good luck getting a charge! And the battery is still expensive.
The Venus Project doesn't just go for enviroment purposes, this project also goes for getting rid of Government, Currency, and Corparations. I'm gonna send you a message with all four parts of the Venus Project. It will give you more detail and why oil and oli companies are BS.
nope, if you look into real issues of energy deployment, you'll know why we are so dependant on Oil.
Monopolies only become established when one company satisfies customers demands far better than all the others.
Nothing beats the convinience of oil.. high energy density, easy to transport. Only NUCLEAR matches it for power, at expense of more costly infrastructure (electricity=hard to transmit, loses half in grid)
Just type in "Zeitgeist The Venus Project" and look at all four parts of the video. You'll know what I'm talking about when I say that The Venus Project is FTW! Remeber this project doesn't just talk about enviroment but other things as well.
Instead of trying to look for something negative in this project, try and look for something that is positive. Just give it a chance.
Just watch the video man. Grab a better understanding of it and then you can reply to me. I know there's no way you could of watched all four parts in 10 minutes.
hey everyone i did a real tesla wireless energy transfer! i got 20 ft wireless maybe i can get 100 ft to a mile! this is important, i am lightning up a florecent light 20 ft away at a reciever coil! please everyone spread, we got to bring teslas work back to life before its to late! wireless power is the future if we learn it and build it!
No its not. Perhaps Hollywood has already prepared you (with a dichotomy) to accept the norm: You know with the top 2% controlling 80% of the worlds wealth (or whatever the current figures are). Another commenter said we could do more bikeriding etc. That's probably what we should have done when we found oil rather than waste the world's one-time only resource with the personal automobile.
I'm putting my bicycle onto a trainer and connecting it to a dc motor to charge a 12 volt battery. I'm only doing this because there is not much wind here in Georgia. Besides, this way I might lose a couple of lbs. I'm looking for the next best cheap and easy to build free energy device. Somebody has to come up with one soon. Its the 21st century already, ya know?!
I think it's worth noting that people are not a "waste product." We are the #1 creation on the planet. Keeping in line with your other terms, we would be the "products," not "waste products" or byproducts.
Funny concept! This is what I used to think about when I was a kid. Many people need exercise anyway, with or without a financial benefit. Why not combine the two.
Pretty jokes. Although i'm sure without even putting generators on our bikes, we could save a lot of energy just by riding them. We would live longer too. Nice bike ride, clean air. that would be nice.
The solution will not be given we have to take it. It's up to ppl to research n build their own solutions. The magic solution that will be offered will be fake.
Please use some common sense! This video/idea is terrible! Have you actually done any research into the amount of energy a dynamo can generate? Are you going cycle on a bike for an hour to generate enough energy which on the current national grid would cost you less than 20 pence (UK)? Let me see how much fresh fruit and vegetables you can buy with that pay cheque!!! Unfortunately your theory sucks!
If people were smart, they would have already discovered that the artificial "benefits" from high living standards are worth absolutely nothing. They would have realized, that the benefits and promises of big world wide companies are only beneficial for the share holders. Learn how to grow your own life stock. Buy from your local farmer. Forget about globalisation and bananas in canada. Quit this sick and redundant nomadizing. Start home-working and get local.
weird .. i actaully had this conversation yesterday after seeing 11th hour. The point that Money is stored energy but that there is a HUGE loss of power from step to step for the average 'worker'. If a person/family were to build a sustainable abode say in rural Alaska, grow at least most of their own food, produce off grid power, catch water, compost waste among other things, how much money would they really need to live?
have you done the numbers to find out how much a peddler could make in terms of US$ per hr of work done? How many hrs would someone need to peddle to power their own house per day? Of course if people had to peddle for their energy then they would surely cut consumption :)
the term peddler is saved for sellers usually. i think you must mean pedal ,as in 'to pedal a bicycle'. yes? Just read a short article on this exact subject in HomePower mag. It says the avr person can gen 75 watts continuous. so this is about 10 bucks a year off the average elec bill. So far this wont power houses even if you pedaled all day .

The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common ppl.
We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity.

I agree with the video-maker that Bicycles are the future of transport.
but, this message is broadcast around the world using satelites..
HOW MUCH RENEWABLE ENERGY WOULD IT TAKE TO PUT A SATELITE IN ORBIT.
just think about it. Windmills, firewood, ... to put something in orbit?!!!!
RENEWABLE ENERGY WILL NOT SAVE US.
WHEN THE OIL RUNS OUT WE ARE RETURNING TO 18TH CENTURY LIVING STANDARDS AND 18TH CENTURY POPULATION LEVELS

feeding human to drive dynamo = very inefficient,
much better to use wind or solar, but dont expect too much from that.
(solar panels require scarce materials)
Solar wont be much different to irrigating deserts.
but 100% agree BICYCLES are the future of transport.
walter0bz 1 year ago
Renewable energy for idiots:-
windMILLs are old, can drive various processes directly (like grain-processing..)
wind-SAILING ships are old=transport across globe
SOLAR = irrigation, or eating seaweed, or catching fish that turned algea into high-quality protien
Geo-Thermal = hot-water
So, the q of life we can expect from "Renewables"= sail-powered fishing boat, or subsistence farmer (solar)
ENERGY for IDIOTS - only nuclear matches oil
Population reduction needed to survive peak-oil

Sadly I did not and I do not recommend doing this, as you may not be sure if you took the plastic cap off the wire first.

It's easy to obtain.

crap, the venus project is full of shit.
Any SCIENTIFICALLY minded person will tell you Renewables CANT match the stored energy of oil.
Venus Project is dangerous, naive over-optimism.
Post oil, we're going back to the 18th century.

it spells out "best case" scenarios for everything.
reality is imperfect. The first major hurdle is, elites will not want to share with proles.
also, if TECH can eliminate WORK as the VP claims, the Elites will no longer NEED the proles...
walter0bz 1 year ago
IMO, r.e. VP, its
(a) ignoring realities of human nature
and
(b) ignoring realities of energy (REALLY, renewables cannot match oil)
VP is a pure pipe-dream
we should work toward *freedom*(less elite vs slaves, more middle) and *co-operation*
but we must also accept when OIL runs out ALL humans will have their standard of living reduced .. wherever they are in the pecking order.
walter0bz 1 year ago
VP-nonsense - sustainable energy, living in the sea?
THATS WHAT FISH DO!!! and have done for millions of years.

i read the VP alot;
the IDEAL is nice- but its completely unattainable.
its not in touch with reality.
VP's says "humans are nice so long as money isn't involved"
reality:-
"humans create power structures & asymmetry & they try to live beyond their means... money just quantifies & measures human behaviour."
population reduction is the only answer.

Isn't this exactly the same idea the machines came up with in the Matrix: turn people into living batteries?
