That smack at 2:44 was the loudest hit I've heard at Kinnick Stadium by defense or offense. He laid that guy out and the smack richocheted around the entire stadium. It was aaawwwweeeeessssoommmm!
as an iowa fan myself, i will say we had probably the best line in the big 10 which is why greene did as well as he did....i wish we could get some more talent for kirk, so we could go shut up USC and all the stupid effin SEC fans...

Weghner is 5'11'', 206 pounds, and that's BEFORE he goes to college and gets a lot bigger. He's not big right now, but he's definently not small. Most college RBs are around that size while they're playing, he'll probably get up around 215, which is actually a pretty good size.

Ringer is better when he had like what 40 yards against penn state, and less total yards than Greene and never under a hundred in any game...no their is a difference, Ringer can be stopped, Greene can't be stopped...
it's official - green is going nfl. i still say they'll have a better season next year. most of the team is back including most of that awesome O line. hampton will probably have a great year and that incoming freshman will hopefully be a good #2.
i think brandon myers will be the more difficult player to replace, unless moeaki can stay healthy...
shonn greene went to kirkwood community college in iowa and then transfered to iowa. He went there because of his poor grades but i would love to see this guy play another year and see the hawks have a shot for the national championship next year

iowa will be good next year, but i dont think they'll be NC contenders. greene isnt coming back, hes going to the NFL this year most likely. i think if iowa's gonna win it all in any upcoming year, its 2010. they have their whole starting defense from next year returning except for 2 linebackers, and next years defense will be really good anyway. stanzi will have developed well, jewel hampton will be a good back by then, and we'll have great receivers with DJK, sandeman, and keenan davis.
My high school shut him down (Iowa City High). We only won by a few points, but we really outplayed them. We controlled them, and the game wasn't as close as it looked.

i think its raw as hell when the commentator during the wisconsin game says that Shonn's numbers are "absolutely bananas" and that Shonn is simply an nfl back playing college football. His mentality is so aggressive and relentless if more players could achieve that type of approach to the game Iowa would be so much better.
Nice job vidowa! These plays show why Shonn Greene should be invited to NYC for the Heisman ceremony. I know the Big XII qbs have been great and one of them will win it, but give Shonn a ticket to NYC! On a more somber note, we all mourn the death of #3 from Purdue on that last play ... (jk)

If Iowa goes BCS, and he has huge numbers again, then I can see him maybe running up or perhaps winning. Wouldn't blame him for going pro though...

I agree, but I wouldn't call him a small time high schooler. He was a 4-star recruit, 117th in the ESPN top 150 recruits and 15th overall receiver.
