hey i just found out that even if the start menu does not say hibernate and the cmd "trik" does not work you can stil pute it on hibernate just pres "windows key" + r type in "shutdown -h" and it should work... it work for my stationary pc.....

it's possible that a program is preventing your computer to go into hibernation but if you are using a stationary pc then its possible that your PC does not support hibernation. I shall try to find an answer to your problem
It says one or more legacy drivers are preventing hibernation. VgaSave.
Just a side note, my computer was messing up, and I reinstalled vista and the drivers & utilities with the CDs. It was after this that made hibernation and sleep gone.

Try typing "shutdown -h" in the cmd if it still doesn't work try dumping vista and go for windows 7 :P

did you type power cfg or powercfg else if you typed powercfg and it said "power" is not recognized... then i don quite know what to say....

I did that, and Command Prompt says, "An internal system component has disabled hibernation."
What do I do from here?
