Today cars like Koenigsegg CCXR, Bugatti Veyron, Ultimate Aero, they are faster than the F1, but only for 20 o 30 kilometers per hour more, F1 has 600 hp, Veyron and CCXR has about 1000hp, on board computer, stability control, and the most important, this cars have turbo, the F1 not, Mclaren F1 its been manofactured in 1996-1997...... with 15 years of difference the other cars like Veyron with new tecnologies etc etc. only 30-40 km/h more.... its crap, they sholud be better than that.

Last time I checked the McLaren was designed and built in Woking, England. The designer is Gordon Murray, who was born in South Africa.
The engine is BMW though, but that is merely a bi-product considering how advanced the rest of the car is. To think it did 391km/h with only 635hp shows its aerodynamics are top class.

Removing the rev limiter is just engine suicide. No sane company would deliver a car like that to its customers. The actual production cars have a top speed of 368-372 km/h.
Well with a 7-speed paddle gearbox and the LM spec with 680 HP you should easily go over 400 and probably push the 0-60 time under 3.0 sec since the F-1 probably has the best aerodynamics of any modern supercar. And McLaren is actually planning a F-1 successor, above the MP4-12C. They could just reusing the body with few modifications >_>

I read in Driving Ambition that the car used was not in optimal condition for the test. The tyres were the standard road tyres that come with the F1 Road car and were completely done by the end of the test and the engine was a 500bhp version, also you could see that he was right on the rev limiter. Longer gearing would have taken the speed right up.
@jaymz123456789 The car used was XP5, one of the development cars, and definitely had at least 627bhp. McLaren have always said that the F1 engine produced more power after it had some miles on it. Mario Andretti tested the car and said that it could easily have longer gearing - or even a 7th gear - to give a higher top speed.
@beankeen456 The track is Ehra-Lessien in Germany, which is owned by Volkswagen, and yes - it's same track used by Top Gear for their Veyron top speed run. The track is much, much larger than Nardo with a main straight 9km long. Total track length is c.20km.

A 5000 kilo car with 1000hp WOULD make 400km/h but it would take 5 times longer to get there.

That would most certainly be true if you had a huge fixed wing. However the McLaren F1 had an adjustable wing which minimized drag at those huge speeds, which means the downforce is only a fraction of what it is at lower speeds when the wing is in a steeper angle.
It's the same for the Bugatti Veyron. The wing adjusts itself to create less drag in those high speeds. Neither the F1 nor the Veyron has a fixed win you ignorant fool so your whole point is nullified.
I still would like to see the F1, the F1 LM and the F1 GTR go round the Top Gear track, and I generally believe they will all go in the top 5 if not top 3 :D
Don't get me wrong I like the Veyron but it's not a Race Car, it's a luxury car that just happens to be able to go to 250 and has techy breaks.
In terms of sheer driving experience and ultimate road car the F1 LM and F1 will possibly never be touched, (certainly not in my eyes)

the mp4 12c is a loser car. its meant to compete with ferraris and porsches, not with bugatti veyron or koenigsegg. thats the p12 project.
all it would take, really, if they used the same body, is to turbo the engine, get it past 850hp.thats the minimum to destroy the veyron SS.I doubt the aerodyanmics can get significantly better, so the answer is sheer hp. gee, i hope they wont build another 600hp car like mp4 12c again.

F1 is fast 391 km(240mph), the veyron did 402 km(250 mph), but it used 16 cyl with 4 turbos

I read in Driving Ambition that the car used was not in optimal condition for the test. The tyres were the standard road tyres that come with the F1 Road car and were completely done by the end of the test and the engine was a 500bhp version, also you could see that he was right on the rev limiter. Longer gearing would have taken the speed right up.

@jaymz123456789 The car used was XP5, one of the development cars, and definitely had at least 627bhp. McLaren have always said that the F1 engine produced more power after it had some miles on it. Mario Andretti tested the car and said that it could easily have longer gearing - or even a 7th gear - to give a higher top speed.

@beankeen456 The track is Ehra-Lessien in Germany, which is owned by Volkswagen, and yes - it's same track used by Top Gear for their Veyron top speed run. The track is much, much larger than Nardo with a main straight 9km long. Total track length is c.20km.

And YOU are a total SCHMUCK if you honestly think weight is the main issue to get a car to go to go fast.
Here's an example. If you have a 1000 kilo car with only 100hp and a 2000kilo kar with 200hp they will have an equal power to weight ratio and hence should accelerate equally fast. However the heavier car has MORE POWER, and most likely more TORQUE. Therefore 200hp will make it FASTER and have a higher top speed.

At 400km/h WEIGHT is NOT the main ISSUE. DRAG is!! Thats'what you need to overcome mainly you ignorant ape who slept through physics class.
Listen up little dumb ape. If you made the Veyron only half as light it still wouldn't go faster because the aerodymanic drag is what slows it down not the weight at those speed.
Weight is for good acceleration NOT top speed.

That would most certainly be true if you had a huge fixed wing. However the McLaren F1 had an adjustable wing which minimized drag at those huge speeds, which means the downforce is only a fraction of what it is at lower speeds when the wing is in a steeper angle.
It's the same for the Bugatti Veyron. The wing adjusts itself to create less drag in those high speeds. Neither the F1 nor the Veyron has a fixed win you ignorant fool so your whole point is nullified.

The Greatest road car ever made!
I still would like to see the F1, the F1 LM and the F1 GTR go round the Top Gear track, and I generally believe they will all go in the top 5 if not top 3 :D
Don't get me wrong I like the Veyron but it's not a Race Car, it's a luxury car that just happens to be able to go to 250 and has techy breaks.
In terms of sheer driving experience and ultimate road car the F1 LM and F1 will possibly never be touched, (certainly not in my eyes)
