  • earle hagen also wrote the andy griffith show theme. what a contrast!

  • @jonjo12321 Earle Hagen

  • who composed the original harlem nocturne?

  • @jonjo12321 I believe is was Earl Bostic. I think so, anyway. I could be wrong.

  • Muitíssimo bom!!!

  • Does anyone know that Ferguson himself plays the soprano in the beginning?

  • thumbs up if you play an instrument!

  • I play the alto vagina. (@lego...)

  • This can't be Maynard. The alto player would be absolutely killin' if this was Maynard, and this guy isn't. When did Maynard ever record a tune with completely nondescript brass writing?

  • Suuuummertiiiime, haha.

  • Круто!!!

  • I disagree with the comments concerning doubt about this song coming from Maynard. His arrangements were passionate, strong, and powerful. In my opinion this is all that, true, a different sort of strength and passion but it's still all there. The feeling of walking through a shady part of downtown at 3am is as passionate as a triple C.

  • WHAT'S THE BIT ABOUT DUKES VERSION BEING UNAVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY WHERE HE WAS BORN AND PLAYED? ARE THE RADICAL LIBS TAKING OVER WHAT MUSIC WE CAN PLAT TOO?

  • do you know this version?

    youtube .com /watch?v=xirQqvzLg6k&feature=related

the song starts on 2:25 min

    thanks

  • Sad. Sexy. Absolute perfection! Wow.

  • Bluesy, baby! These guys make this tune sound like it should have been the background music for a film noir.

  • Maynard always had a great band but not to the loss of the spotlight, where's Maynard?

  • @eltonej i too was waitin for him to start screamin the theme and it never came.

    nevertheless its still excellent!@

  • This one by Maynard Ferguson is great because it sounds like it's lonely and being played in an alley.

  • This is the cleanest, and yet most impressive version I'v heard. The sax player using blue notes perfectly. Is this really from the Maynard Ferguson Band?

  • I love the passion and the amazingness of how something played at a slow tempo feels so good to listen to!

  • sexy sound

  • im learning this song in play its hard on flute >.<

  • @yoshilover442 You should see the trumpets, it is epic difficult.

  • I have to agree that this doesn'i sound like one of Maynard's bands, where's Maynard, sounds too tame.

  • i have to play this is band

  • @ilovecookiessomuch12 you GET to play this in band

  • i caught that little Summertime excerpt in the beginning, you sneaky trumpets

  • I would like more clarinet sound in the performance, but anyway - the band is working perfect! ;-)

  • That does not sound anything like any of Maynard's bands

  • Just the way I like it, nice and slow.
