  • You are an amazing young woman! I have watched several of your videos and I feel like I now have some knowledge on CP (I am a registered nurse and midwife) I would like to ask you how you go with swallowing food? Is your swallow impaired? Thanks for your great videos Gwenneth

  • @gwenneth65 thanks! no, my swallowing is fine. i eat normally without difficulty.

  • @gLeekFreek66 thanks! i like chicken, pasta, & some steak. i like ur username. i love glee also! i plan on doing another video soon. :-)

  • I find your will power and everything incredibly amazing! Your story interests me deeply. Just out of curiosty though, when you go to bed do you have any issues pertaining to your uncontrolable movement?

Great wishes and hope you're having an amazing summer!

  • @davis3378 thanks. i sleep w/ my hands between my legs so they dont move. plus, i dont move as much when im tired. i never sleep straight through the night & doctors dont know y.

  • If you don't have good balance maybe you could try the rifton gait trainer

  • @rockurworldforever getting a walker isnt worth it because the only place id use it would be in my house & i dont have far 2 walk.

  • Wow, there are too many clueless idiots out there. Keep your chin up, Nicole! :-)

  • @glnohax excuse me but you seriously need to get out of the prairie days & come back to 2010. disabled people are no different than able-bodied people. apologize or else i will get you banned.

  • Okay. I hope college was not to difficult and hope that you have a busy summer. I can not wait to hear your plans. Mine is getting out and about to soak up all the sun rays for tan this winter. I feel bad not sending you video so you know what I look like, it does not seem fair that I am asking personal questions along with no face and just words. Oh yeah what are you majoring in? I am glad for your response and chat again soon. BYE

  • Hey just wondering how you are doing so far with your Baclofen Pump since the date on this video is March 21, 2010. I think since receiving last year you were doing so good are your movements, but on this video looks like the one you did back before you got it. I am also glad to hear your accomplishments in college and can not wait to see video of your graduation. My niece has same disability has you and hope to meet you at one of the conferences throughout US.

  • @greentulips94 im doing well. i was moving a lot cuz i was talking a lot. thanks!

  • @powerchairchick

okay. I hope college went well for you this year. Do you have a busy summer planned? I wish I had video so you can see who your talking too. I feel weird asking personal questions without knowing what I look like. I hope to chat with you more this summer and get a good tan for winter, I know I will soak up as much sun as I can get.

  • i have cp too

  • Hi Nicole, does that frustrate you that you have to depend on someone to help you with a lot of daily things in life?

  • @sodalady no, its normal 2 me. i mean, sometimes its annoying but i know no other way of life.

  • Hi Nicole, does it hurt when you move around a lot? I know how carpal tunnel feels like and it's not fun.

  • just asking cuz i have cp too do you have muscle pain in your hands

  • @no1soul87 sometimes my hands get stuck open or closed & its pain. i sometimes also have wrist pain from carpel tunnel.

  • Fair enough, Nicole! Thanks for answering my question about what you're majoring in...I work in higher education, so I'm always interested in what people are studying. Have a good weekend!

  • Great video, as always, Nicole! I'd love to know more about what you're studying in college~do you have a "dream job"? Also, you mention your Mom...in your next video I think we'd enjoy knowing more about your family...do you have brothers or sisters?

  • @sallydan1 thanks! my major is I.T. id love 2 do something involving disabled ppl & adapted computer equipment. however, ill most likely do some sort of tech support.

i think id rather keep the videos solely about me. plus, i dont wanna divulge 2 much info.

  • some here Nicole nice job on vids i want to say im srry for the facebook stuff i just think its easyer to talk on there :) ::: so 2 things i have been trying to think of ways to help you walk bc/ your chire dose not lot you do a lot :) and i know that a guy out there for you that can help you do what ever you want ( i wood be on of them) but i have one now and i did not find it easy to say everthing i need help but she was open to every thing so keep up the good work ok :)

  • @Jaygolds123 thanks. i have absolutely no balance, so i could never walk on my own. my power chair is a godsend. it allows me 2 be independent.

  • @powerchairchick well ty so much for geting back to me ya i guess that cool i guess that looking at made my think that well i guess a walker wood not work there so much out there that there has to be some thing for you to try to walk with that will work i think about it every day so im not sure if i need more info but i wil try to come up with some thing see ya

  • I just also wanted to say that I can understand you relatively well in this video... my compliments for just doing it while it costs you a lot of energy!

    Richard.

  • sweet! eh, im used 2 it. lol.

  • oh ok. thanks for answering the question. Thats a good ways to walk. So yeah i would consider that a little bit of a ways to have to walk. Do you use a walker when you have to do that or does someone help you?

  • np. some1 helps me. i dont own a walker because i dont usually walk far. plus, i feel safer w/ some1 holding me. i cant use a standard walker. i need 1 w/ arm straps because i cant hold on 2 the handles. because my arms r strapped 2 it, if i fell, id fall face 1st. it happened once when i was 11. i had orthodontic braces on & the ended up in my gums & 1 of my teeth turned black. yea, it wasnt fun. lol.

  • are you able to walk for long distances with someone helping you or not really?

  • thats a good question. it depends on wut u consider long distances. i used 2 be able 2 walk through a few hallways in 9th grade using a walker in my high school but i i had 2 stop because of bad hip pain. as of now at age 20, the furthest ive walked in a while was when my vans lift broke. i walked from my house 2 my van, from my van 2 a salon & vise versa.

  • Great video, Nicole!!!!!!!! Thank you very much tor sharing your Day-To-Day Life with us!!!!!!!!!! I very much admire you!!!!!!! Earlier this Afternoon, I was discharged - from Hospital... My Baclofen Pump's in, and on. I'm - currently - on 230 micrograms; however, my Doctor's planning to turn it up to 600, or 700, micrograms a day. I was just wondering... Are you on 110 milligrams, or micrograms, per day? So fr, I'm like you... The Pump doesn't really help when I'm anxious, etc..

  • thanks! i hope ur not in 2 much pain & u dont have an awful spinal headache! i couldnt sit up 4 5 days b/c of the spinal headache. it was only REALLY bad 4 3 days.

    im pretty sure its micrograms.

  • Thanks!! Yeah... I had the awful Spinal Headaches - for a few days, after the Operation - too!! This is just a though; however, perhaps you might like to discuss - with your Doctor - about the possibility of increasing your Dosage. As you know, my Doctor's planning to increase my Dose to 600, 700, micrograms per day!! Apparently, my Doctor is the top Neurologist, who deals with Baclofen (in Adults), in the State of Victoria (Melbourne, Australia - where I live).

  • Just in case... My Neurologist's Name is Dr. Barry Rawicki...

  • Nice to let us peak into your life :).

Is there anything you hate to ask or would mostly prefer to be able to do yourself?

    Greetings, Richard.

  • some here im kanda the some i want to get to know here a lot better

  • np.

yea. i absolutely hate having 2 use the bathroom in the middle of the night. luckily, it doesnt happen often, but when it does, i have 2 wake my mom up. its a pain.

i would like 2 be able 2 dress & feed myself.

  • @powerchairchick Well if you find a nice bf he wont mind... but I can imagine you would like that indeed.
