Hi! I'd recommend to kick the CS-3 out of the chain. I tried everything with it in combination with my bass, but I didn't like the result at all. A great resource site how to use a bass with a compressor is ovnilab[dot]com. The CS-3 has to be modded in the author's opinion. I don't use a compressor for bass anymore, although I'd really like to try out the Seymour Duncan "Double Back" compressor some day. I threw my Marshall ED-1 compressor out of my bass effects chain.
That is the "Effects Level" knob. It regulates the amount of chorus volume. So you can control how much chorus should be added to your clean signal. I can recommend to buy this pedal! It is really good.
It is made for stereo purposes. If you use both outputs you will get the modulated sound on the one side and the clean sound on the other one. In mono mode both signals are layered, in stereo mode they are split. Live on stage it sounds great if you use two speakers. Via headphones it sounds rather strange.
I like pedals that produce modulated sounds on both sides a lot more, but I don't know if a BASS chorus exists that does it.
Sure! You can use ANY effect pedal with bass. The important thing is that it drives your sound towards the tone you desire! And vice versa: there are lots of guitarists who swear by the BOSS CE-2B "Bass Chorus". The corporations label their pedals for the main target group, so don't be irritated if it says "Bass", "Guitar" or "Vocal" or whatsoever! It's always worth to try it with your bass or whatever instrument you want to use it with!
Do as you like! It won't harm the amp. You can plug in whatever instrument to a bass or guitar amp, but you can be sure to get a crappy sound out of it! There is a reason soundwise why guitarists and bassists have their own amps.
@ApparitionOfficial If you apply to much bass to a strictly guitar amp (lets say you use a superbass setting on your pedal and have bass volume all the way up without much treble) you can damage the low end of the amp. However, you have to pretty much be giving the amp hell for you to blow a speaker doing so.
I don't use a PSA-adaptor, but I have an original BOSS RPW-7 Power Supply in 9,5'' rack format. This thing has 5 DC outputs with a total of 700 mA and it gives hum-free power! It can only be found on the second-hand-market.
And I live in Europe, so an adaptor for 120 V is not recommandable. ;o)
But I can recommend the PSA-120S with 500mA over the normal PSA-120 with 200mA only! If you have to power several (digitals suck much power!) pedals, go for this one!
Dude, i heard from a pro player that if you take a old boss chorus and only give it 6 volt. it would sound amazing... would you try it out with this one? i know it's not old but what the hell, if it sounded good id go ahead and buy it.
I have never heard something like that before. And unfortunately I don't have the CEB-3 anymore. I wanted to buy it again soon.
I know of another pedal where the sound quality increases with the voltage: the first BOSS flanger, the BF-1, can be used with an ordinary 9V DC adaptor, but it was originally designed to run on 12V. A few members at the Bossarea-Forum (I can recommend this forum for your question about the CE-2B) say that the BF-1 is good at 9V but simply great with 12V.
@wwwPepeMusicDE oh i see. I was just asking because I read a comment on MarloweDK's video for Funky Distorted Bass which said that adding both distortion/overdrive and chorus to a bass makes it sound like a guitar,
Okay, now I know what you meant. Yes, a bass guitar can come near (but not too near) to the sound of an overdriven and chorus-enriched guitar, but that's not the main reason why bassists use chorus. Why should a bassist want to sound like an ordinary guitarist? ;o)
Take a bit of time and listen to the early albums of Level 42 and you'll hear that bass solos can sound gorgeous with a bass chorus.
@wwwPepeMusicDE well bro, you're the bassist, not me. You're the teacher, and I'm the student. The only musical instrument I've played for a long time is the baritone horn.
I don't know if I really understand your question... But guitar chorus pedals have always been criticized for making a bass sound muddy through them. If you think that the bass sounds like a guitar through the CEB-3 it may be due to my playing style.
I didn't use an amp at all. I went straight into a stereo input of my Alesis mixing console and from there to my sound card. Only in the last example I used the CEB-3's stereo out, the other settings sound spacious as well, because I used my Marshall SV-1 chorus in a very subtle setting, like I almost always do to add a certain dimension to my demo recordings.
hi..........can you please suggest me a good way to chain these bass effects
1.BOSS CS-3
2.BOSS GEB-7
3.BOSS LMB-3
4.BOSS SYB-5
5.Biyang Baby Boom(Delay)
6.SansAmp Tech 21(Bass programmable driver)
7.Hartke VXL Tone shaper pre-amp

Instead I only use the LMB-3 ever since to just compress the peak signals and not the whole sound. If I were you I'd chain it that way:
1. GEB-7
2. LMB-3 (this one after the EQ causes a bit less noise if you use the enhancer function)
3. SYB-3 (this one needs the EQs before, otherwise it rather sounds really bad, but try it out for yourself)
4. SansAmp (SYB-5 with distortion can sound nasty in a good way)
5. Baby Boom
6. Hartke pre-amp (self-explanatory)

How does this sound on guitar?
mrhumpydumpyable 6 months ago
@mrhumpydumpyable
Not too good, in my opinion. It's really good with bass, but I prefer other choruses for guitar, like the Marshall SV-1 or the old BOSS CE-3.

Hey look out!! High frequencies over the Bass Amp Speaker are Dangerous!!
You can plug a Bass into a Guitar Amp.. Do not plug a Guitar in a Bass Amp (with Bass Speakers).

Okay, we've discussed it a bit in the Bossarea forum and a Dutch member tried his CE-2B with 6V. Let me quote him:
"...the pedal did turn on, but was lots lower in volume, distorted and didn't sound anywhere remotely amazing."
Sorry for being a myth buster! ;o)
