At 26 seconds he totally looks like Wil Wheaton. Awesome video, I'm going to try this instead of buying a stupidly expensive custom made shirt online.
Try plastic, you get many uses out of it. I used acetate sheets. went to art shop and they ripped me off. Try "binder covers" from an office supply shop. i paid $35 for 100 a4 sheets. Paper only lasts 1 or 2 sprays before it curls up at the edges. if you want bigger than a4, just tape the sheets together with clear tape. Using clear plastic also allows you to copy straight onto it from an existing image.
@sturmmensch Google "graffiti stencil guide" and click the first result. (I'd put a link but for obvious reasons I can't) it's obviously a guide intended for making stencils for graffiti use, but what's shown in the video is exactly the same thing, just applied to a t-shirt. I think website will be helpful to you, because if you can get a stencil-like design drawn out first, then actually cutting it is nothing.
@vlogboy209 Thank you for kindness, anyway the color fades even washing by hand, and continues to be toxic to the skin ... then if you want your shirts so you do well, mine is just a modest opinion...
You can buy ONE screen(for screen printing)and some heat cure plastisol ink (black)and lay that over your stencil. Squeegee the ink onto the tee. Cure it for 40 seconds under your oven broiler element. You will have a print that will outlast the tee! And you can just wash it in the washer like normal. Easy cleanup too...no overspray worries...you can do it inside your house. Spraying is cool too...part of the stencil 'feel'. Just letting you know if you want a strong lasting print/stencil.
Sick shirt, dude!! How do you get the stencil to stay so flat down on the fabric like that? What kind of paper are you using? Are you using some sort of spray adhesive to stick the stencil to the fabric?
Kick ass stencil I'm just starting out I havnt used spray paint for fabric I plan on getting some bec I'm using car spray paint right now can't do a heavy coat bec it gets hard fast lol love the vid man
How can you transfer the image of something that's already on a shirt that doesn't fit? I want to put that image into a larger shirt but I don't want to cut it. Anyone have any advice?
Cool video. But save yourself some time by buying a vinyl cutter to cut out the design for you and cut it on some heat transfer vinyl to heat press it onto your apparel. You will save a ton of time and you won't walk around smelling like Krylon.
@romanrazors Facepalm. No it wouldnt because im not trying to look cool by stating that i know who Morrissey is. Stating that I'm so cool by knowing who he is, is not what im doing. It's like saying, 'hot shit i know who Chopin is, thumbs up if you know who he is because you have an expansive knowledge of music and you want to say you know more about a musician that others' HOLY SHIT.

yeah man but you forget to mention that when you spray paint like that the paint will actually leak into the fabric underneath the stencil and you get a bad fuzzy image.
i started doing this 6 years ago...trial and error and the best results i got was with the fabric color sprays from acmoore...
regular paint is just too thin and will soak into the material unless you do almost an overspray of MANY layers where the paint sort of falls on the tshirt instead of saturating it.
you know what makes the stencil cutting SO MUCH EASIER! if you have photoshop, use the desaturate than contrast to the max about 4 times and then threshhold
how thick should paper be? i'm afraid that paper(if it is too thin) would be ruined if i use it more than once... am i right? tnx! btw, very nice tutorial!
my stencil shirts never come out anywhere near that good. I always end up having the shirt absorb the paint so that it gets all sloppy making a blob like thing
They still come out fine but I can never have fine detail come out
HELP HELP HELP~ how come if i spray paint mine, there are some paint passing thru the stencil? like it wont be a clean work but a kinda mess ._. is it because i just use a regular paper? is it because of the paint? D: HELP~~~~
Best way is to have it someone plotter it out for you on a cheapest sticker possible.
You can remove all the fine details and you don't need connecting points. You can use transfer tape to move the plotter sticker on to the fabric. Stick it to the shirt properly and spray few times. Once it's dry, remove the sticker.
Using the above method:
the paper need to be fairly thick and you have to hold it down so the paint doesn't sip in.
@keannumartinez Any spray paint, but if you live in the US, at arts and craft stores, you can go buy fabric spray paint, and iron it when it dries so it will be permanent.
They just put out new image transfer sheets that prints soft, stretchy, and vibrant colors on most material. They don't sell them at local stores you got to order them they are not expensive either. hot or cold peel and you can wash the shirt following the shirts wash instructions, click my channel to see the video demo.
@hogmaster3000 They edited a step out. There's a follow up video for this. If it's a one time stencil then regular paper, but this guy cut it out on regular paper and then sprayed it on a transparency (like the ones teachers use on overhead projectors) so that he could use it a hundred times...paper is only good for 2 sprays
