  • great vids im thinking about making a few BOB for fishing thanks to you.

  • @MerKWorK: Thanks for the heads up! --GM

  • There is actualy a version of ovomaltine that can be prepared with water. It's called ovomaltine line or ovomaltine quick. the quick tastes just the same as normal ovomaltine, the line i habe not tried jet

  • @RabeHK: Thanks so much for your helpful suggestion -- as I'm sure we all can profit by it! Many blessings --GM

  • I love how informative you are,and your speech is amazing

  • An apple is actually more effective at keeping you awake then a large cup of coffee. Due to the natural sugars your body is an expert at breaking down and utilizing unlike refine sugars or even high fructose corn syrup which supresses the immune system. Eat the skins of fruit they carry powerful antioxidants which prevent the fruit from being oxidized from the suns UV rays.

  • @ThatDifferentGuy: I say yes to the apples -- as long as they are available! When they're not, or when they not feasible, use the more field expedient packets of coffee. Thanks for sharing that bit of knowledge, however -- I didn't know that! I say use BOTH in their appropriate settings. Many blessings, brother --GM

  • @ThatDifferentGuy Don't forget to eat the seeds that's the best thing for you, prevents cancer.

  • I have watched several survival videos on youtube and this is by far the most useful, organized, and informative series. Excellent work!

  • @akflyer24: Thanks so much for your kind words of encouragement! Stay tuned and stay safe! --GM

  • Great series I really have enjoyed it.

  • This was the first video I've seen from your channel & was blown away by how much information was presented & the level of organization!

I am now going back to check out previous videos. Thanks

  • @CampfireTalk: Thanks, my friend! Stay tuned for more --GM

  • Your wife (?) mentioned Tang during the taste testing. I have stocked up on several large containers of Tang available at Sam's Club. Not for a bug out bag, but for a long term storage drink. It has some extra vitamins (including C) and would make filtered water taste better. We have powdered ice tea and lemonade in the bulk sizes (from Sam's Club), too.

  • @prescottbill: Both are excellent choices! Yes, I agree -- it make drinking water a bit more pleasant! Thanks for watching -- GM

  • Thank you for the awesome video.

  • Damn, this was a good video. I have always given thought about drinks but you put it all together, many thanks.

  • @joesphx19: You're very welcome, my friend! Many blessings --GM

  • Excellent as always. I overpack beverages in my BOB: one only has to look at history to see how people can get by on cups of coffee or tea when food is scarce.

I've always prefered tea to coffe when I'm living out of a ruck...while most instant coffees and stuff have always been either terrible or too expensive, tea is tea as long as you have hot water. That new starbucks instant coffee is the shit though, I freeloaded a whole pile of sample packs of it when they were first giving it away.

  • @StormRider308: Good thinking -- I missed the Starbucks VIA sample pack give-aways only because I remained too skeptical at first. Just goes to show -- strike when the opportunity is at hand! Many blessings, brother! --GM

  • The FD I work for carries sqwicher on the units. We generally only break it open after big events in hot weather, but it comes to us premixed to dump into a 5 gal beverage cooler. A little different than a bug out, but might be worth a look for a base camp or for a bug in when there's no A/C and you expect family to rely on your place because you are the only one who saw the SHTF comming...

  • @trailtreeisland: Excellent suggestion! I can clearly see where 'Base Camp' situations might require a larger sized items to accommodate more folks. Many blessings --GM

  • One electrolyte replacement option that may be more size and weight efficient than the drink powders is salt tabs. There are many brands available but SaltStick springs to mind. You can also break the capsules and dump the contents into a water bottle or beverage.

  • @rangerdanger222: Excellent! Also, another brand to consider--which I carry in my Medical Trauma Bag--is Jianas Brothers 'Oral Rehydration Salts.' It's actually for more severe cases of dehydration, but worth mentioning for the consideration of some. Many blessings --GM

  • can you buy first strike mre?

  • @calmanny: The epicenter has individual portions of the 'First Strike Rations' that they sell separately. They might be able to point you to a good source, however. It's worth a try. Good luck, brother! --GM

  • I'm going to get some of those Starbucks coffee packets...the taste test sections of your videos are extra helpful.

  • Excellent!

  • Great video, a wealth of info!!

  • I have always wondered why the high stress of fat free or reduced fat. Besides I know the self life isnt as long. If in a high stress high output sit. fat is one thing you will need to keep the mind functioning, since the brain is just fat and water. This is the main reason I always choose MRE's over anything else not just because I ate them for so long. Victor

  • always worth the watch!

  • Great video ! and new information

    Thanks !

  • @SECRETBOL: Many thanks! --GM

  • @hinckleypoland: Thanks, my friend! Great to hear from you again. --GM

  • excelente video

  • Wow, another great video. Thanks for the update on theepicenter as well. I was just getting ready to drop $350 there next week. Now maybe cheaper. Thanks for all that you do.

  • @heat764: You bet! Will keep you posted on developments -- and thanks for your kind words of encouragement! --GM

  • Coffee tastes good because it's a reminder of home. Best Pizza I ever had was Pizza Hut after spending an extended time outside the US in an area without it.

  • I agree 100% with the coffee taste test. To me the Java Juice has a chemical taste to it. Excellent vid, as always!

  • @247wanderlust: Thanks, my friend! --GM

  • I think its worth noting that heat destroys vitamin C, so don't add it to hot drinks, or store it in hot places.

  • @malsahth: Thanks for your insightful comment! --GM

  • Outstanding as always! I always enjoy each installment. You sir have clearly set the standard for this topic. Thank you!

  • @USNERDOC: Thanks for the kind words, David! It's a pleasure to make these videos! And thank you for all your support, brother --GM

  • Great stuff brother right on!!

  • Another good video.

I think it's a great idea to taste drinks before making a choice.

I found when trying out Electrolyte drinks that some (Gatoraid) give me heartburn, but others (Gookinaid, now Vitolyte, and Sqwincher) don't ..

The kind of discovery that is better made at home than on an extended trip or survival situation

    Thanks for the great series

  • great vid asalways :D

  • @pdlumina: Thanks for your comment! It may be because two different individuals are tasting and narrating respectively. Not all my observations are based on nutrition alone, however -- I likewise factor in weight (which was the entire purpose of this 6-video series to begin with), portability, ease of use, and reputation of each product. --GM

  • yes, another one alwready? whats that like 2 in one week? awesome, seriously awesome, i love those single serve sachets of hot chocolate and coffee, great for hiking, set up camp, boil some water, just kick back and relax, great for morale. how small is that sqwincher packet in comparison to the others, you were not kidding when you said it was small, another great in depth video.

  • @porkdemon: My pleasure, my good friend! Let me know how those hikes go! --GM

  • @porkdemon: Thanks for your kind words of encouragement, brother! --GM

  • Awesome vid. I like the nescafe hazelnut flavoring myself. :) I'm a hazelnut fun, good stuff. I will have to try the starbucks, not a big fan of the store bought stuff, but might be worth a good try and the vitalyte sounds very good also. Thanks for the information, loving it!

  • Have you come accross any good cold drink mix with high caffiene for alert needs?

  • @jplerwill: Good question. Perhaps some others on here can address that question(?) --GM

  • @jplerwill you can allways just crush a no doz tablet or a similar type of caffine tablet in to whatever your drinking, be carefull though, sometimes its easier to just take the tablet, as they have a bitter taste that ruins whatever your drinking. be warned though, if you do this, when the affects ware off, you are gonna crash pretty hard. also, check out those v and red bull energy shots, dont taste great, but do the job, dont exceed the daily dosage though, can be dangerous, hope that helps.

  • @porkdemon: Great advice -- never considered that! Thanks! --GM

  • Has anyone ever told you, that you have a "voice for radio"? You do. Its really easy to follow, and you have great inflection, and everything. Top Vid, bro!

  • @cpmower: Thanks, my brother! I'll keep that in mind, and will definitely keep radio in mind! Many blessings --GM
