They reached their objective and they didn't want to rise above that, as much as you would have liked them to do. I don't think they 'shied away' from sentiment, the sentiment just didn't have a place because of this 'shallowness' they pursued. I thought it was really fantastic, in every aspect. Just my opinion.

A kind of mirror. I do feel people will probably be more sympathetic towards Anna Nicole Smith after seeing this opera then before. For some of you, opera is a dead art form, isn't it? For anything new that is composed, even without having seen it, you criticize.
It looks awesome, and I'm not a fan of modern opera myself. The fact that Gerald Finley is in it should tell you something, though.
