  • This is one "sassy" video. =p

  • @orkid682 In this case they were dealing with a person that actually existed, which usually isn't the case in opera's. So that limits, in a way, the possibilities to explore the character beyond what the people actually saw of her when she lived. It has to remain recognisable. Furthermore there was this possible legal action that prevented them from going to far off the facts as we know them. Given these circumstances, I thought it was a very effective portrayal. I didn't miss anything in it.

  • @orkid682 Maybe it's a language problem on my part, but how can you blame the makers for not rising above the objective they set, a commentary on the shallowness of our time? They reached their objective and they didn't want to rise above that, as much as you would have liked them to do. I don't think they 'shied away' from sentiment, the sentiment just didn't have a place because of this 'shallowness' they pursued. I thought it was really fantastic, in every aspect. Just my opinion.

  • She's a party girl with a bad habit, with a bad habit for drugs (8)

  • An opera where I can actually understand the language!! I hope this comes to the US!

  • PERFECT!!!

    EXELENT <3

  • If you don't like it don't watch. It is as simple as that. If you're ignorant enough to pay for a ticket or even open a YouTube video for the sheer pleasure of getting upset, you should reevaluate your perspective. These actors, artists, and this creative team are not hurting you. They are expressing something they love and believe.

  • This is a work of genius, and will be recognised as a classic. The trouble with the reactionary idiots is that they have no sense of history or humanity. They only 'know what they like'.

  • lol, sounds like West Side Story! When will they be doing this in Glee?

  • Anna Nicole, you're missed. Granted, you were whacked and did whaky things. but you didn't deserve to drugged to death.

  • Hey jizzon, I am so glad I hurt and pissed you off, just proves you brits are idiots.

  • OMG! its Gold Member at 1:36

  • I think the Directors and Producers were high on Cocaine, when they decided to make this

  • @tinghaling yes, the "Opera" looked like a tabloid ET, "True Hollywood story." It's a clear example of exploitation of a trashy, greedy woman and her pathetic life. Her mother was described as a "man hating bitch" she had a big tirade against men... very sick. We live in a very decadent world where people glorify debauchery, money is supreme value.ANS Opera=freak show.

  • @neo37ify

Oooohh, so it should stay open for about a week, then?

    ; )

  • @tinghaling ... and then OBLIVION. I strongly doubt it will be next "Carmen" (the classic repertoire). People who created ANS "Opera" wanted to make a qiuck buck, that's all. They wanted to allure young people, students; that's why the ticket was only 70-80 euros. I read very bad reviews in Financial Times, Guardian, Jewish journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Globe & Mail...

  • This is so damned stupid and leave it to the fucking brits to think something like this is funny since they have no real sense of humor anyway. How about we make an opera about the royal family and how clownish they all are, that would be very funny! The brits are such a backward bunch of fuckups!

  • @Buddyg1960 I'm not a brit myself, but I think they've got a great sense of humor. I don't think this opera is meant to trash Anna or the USA. It's about society and the way we deal with celebrities. A kind of mirror. I do feel people will probably be more sympathetic towards Anna Nicole Smith after seeing this opera then before. But if you do feel it is just meant to bash the USA, then I can understand your comment.

  • @Buddyg1960 you silly bastard us brits are renound for our sense of humour - if you wasnt so fukkin backwards maybe you'd get it -another fuckin spoilt yank thinkin the universe revolves around them

  • @Buddyg1960 Comments like this ....from an in-bred, redneck fucking hill-billy.....

Fuck off you cunt and take the rest of your Irish. Wop, Jew, Nigger in-breds with you.

  • @Buddyg1960 The composer and librettist are American.... um yeah.

  • what the fuck!!!!!

  • Welp, opera's dead.

  • anna nicole's life is PERFECT for an opera, love it or hate it.

  • What is wrong with you all? Opera's often about prostitutes/whores is not offensive, but a modern day tragic and imperfect woman is not interesting? Don't criticize something you have not seen!

  • @williamfsneely im with you; traviata at the debut was offensive for all the audience... :S

  • rubbish

  • For some of you, opera is a dead art form, isn't it? For anything new that is composed, even without having seen it, you criticize.

It looks awesome, and I'm not a fan of modern opera myself. The fact that Gerald Finley is in it should tell you something, though.

  • @Cenayon Let history be the judge, though "Carmen" by Georges Bizet was controversial when it opened, it is now a classic.

  • we all know the ending

  • I hope the solar flares kill us all this week. That would feel so much better than having to be in the same existence as this filth. -puke-

  • @TurboGC8 It already hit and didn't do anything. We have to live with this happening... :(

  • The end of civilization as we know it

  • WTH!!
