yeah, baseball is all about money, more money and 20 to 30 million dollar a year contracts by a single player... Good upload though, sorry to blurt my feelings about the MLB now
@yankfan08161985 27 World Series titles. It's the least you can ask for. Yes, 2001 was heartbreaking, but the Diamondbacks really earned it. Most teams would have given up in the situation they were put in. Instead of worrying about coming out on the wrong end of a miracle finish, remember that the Yanks had just come off winning three consecutive titles. Go Yankees AND Diamondbacks. They're both great teams that proved they could win a championship.
First season I watched all the way through (for the cubs, at age 11), First playoffs I watched all the way through. Nothing will ever top this fucking series, it was awesome!
I remember in 6th grade, me and 5 other students won a contest to go a see the Diamondbacks play. The game was supposed to be held on 9/11/01 in Phoenix and I got up really early that morning because I was excited but that ended up being one fucked up day.
i am a cowboys fan and i hate the yankess (not the players).thoese two teams are the most hated teams in sports but we are americans and we are as one in this great nation.may god bless thoese people in new york city who lost there lives on 9/11.....AMEN
im a huge dbacks fan and im not saying i would have liked to seen ny beat us but if there was one world series that would have been great for the yankees to win this was it. the support nyc got was incredible and was a great reminder of what baseball and America is all about. God bless nyc and America
her name is jeanne zleasco nothing happen to her if u watch baseball u would know that fox took the pregame out so her and kevin kennedy aren't there anymore for the last 2 years fox took out pregame...over money dispute...
I've been thinking about not posting this comment because of all the f*ck you replies I'm probably goin to get, but screw it. The Yankees should have won that World Series, not because I'm a Yankee fan, it was just that a New York team needed a win that year in its most iconic sport. Baseball is the most iconic sport, and for what happened that year, I really wanted a New York team to win that one.
@xxpauliegunzxx Yeah but life isn't a movie, man. It's not like the outcome of the World Series would've changed anything that happened on 9/11. At least the Yankees made it to the Series and gave New Yorkers and the rest of America some entertainment, but ultimately it's just a game.
i remember this day like it was yesterday i was like 12 years old and watching my dbacks pull out a miraculous win it was unbelievable, i thought it was over because mariano rivera came to close it, i still get goosebumps when i see the blooper by gonzo, this world series distracted the nation from 9/11 it really helped heal america
Amazing. I am an absolute diehard Yankees fan, and even to this day thinking back to Game 7 makes me cringe.
But I love this opening piece. Besides from the emotion of that time, it really reminds you about the fun and the tradition of the game. Sometimes, winning and losing isn't really important.
If you're a baseball fan, no, an American, and this doesn't give you a lump in your throat, I feel sorry for you.
What a fantastic World Series, I never cried with so much happiness and sadness in those two months ever. I'll never forget it, it's my favorite series of all time
@Gomorrah0 I agree, as a Yankee fan it was most definitely a great series and even though the Yankees lost it was just what their play did to the city and I believe definitely raised everyones morale.
I don't get why they have had that same old fart and his sidekick announce. If they wan't good annuoncers shouldn't they put someone who has more expierince like vin scully or that phills. announcer who died.
i was born and raised in long island and i was raised to praise the yankees its just how some kids parents raise them alltough i do live in florida now i can never diss that team in any way plus that year being after 911 there was more there than just baseball during this game there still crews at ground zero working 24/7 shifts by the way i do respect randy johnson he is one hell of a pitcher
thanks for uploading this video brings back memories, my tv had a lot of static, i watched it ghetto version, amazing home run by soriano in game 7 against schilling, desert heat was one of the best pitching combos as maddux-glavine, pettite-clemens.
true. You know 2001 was a different year in which 98% of Americans and MLB fans worldwide outside of the phoenix area was rooting for the NY Yankees.
Off topic. Two other great series to be mentioned but just misses the cut for an all time classics in last 40 years at least is the '93 Jays-Phillies and '72 Reds-A's series as well imo as well.
Lots of people outside of Arizona were rooting for the D'backs. For example, as an A's fan, me and everyone else I knew was rooting for them. Great series.
Love this intro. I'm a Yankee fan and this series really added to why I love the Yankees, even though they lost. Sometimes it's not about winning, it's about showing heart, which they couldn't have done at a better time.
By the way, by any chance do you have the intro to game 2 when Ray Charles sang America the Beautiful? I've been looking for that for years but could never find it.
God Bless America

Only 3 out of the 50 states like the yankees.
New york, the northern part of new jersey, the sourthern part of rhode island, and connecticut
when i said the northern and sourthern parts of the states i ment half of the state
the sourthern part of new jersey is for the phillies well the northern part of rhode island is for Boston
FYI im a die hard diamonaback fan but i give credit were credit is due
and i got to say the yankees can put up a fight + i HATE the yankees
