I'm intrigued by how you describe them as 'heavy'. Are they heavier than any other leather pants you own then?

Yes, they are heavier and thicker than most of the other leather pants I own. This particular pair is cowhide whereas most of my others are lambskin. Lambskin is softer, thinner and more smooth than cowhide but much less rugged.
