this song reminds me of one easter of my daughter kianna she had a blue dress on she was 5 or 6 and looked gorgeous....song reminds me of her and easter the video does too...thank you for posting
Wow, I wore out this cut from the album back in the 60s. I was a kid once. I wish there were something out there produced complete with the the Cowsills actually playing their instruments complete with harp player. At any rate I love it, thanks.
I think if it came down to it, I'd rather have my kids influenced by this kind of music instead of rap or that devil metal crap. what the hell has music evolved to anyway??
The Cowsills should've received a commission on The Patridge Family. Not only did that show steal the idea of the singing, traveling family with their mom but they even borrowed their pop psychedelia sound. It only worked well cause they had a pin-up idol in David Cassidy to center it around.
@journeythruthepast i think that they did get commission. nothing was stolen, they wanted shirley jones as the mother, the cowsills wanted their ACTUAL mom! not sure of all the details, but it was amicable the arrangement, as i understand it.
Barbara (the mom) had just joined the group in time to record this song (prior to that it was just the 4 eldest boys), but I don't think Susan was added until after the recording was made. Those high "happys" were sung by John (the youngest at the time on the recording). This video was probably done shortly thereafter, with Susan added for their most famous run.
Great song with wonderful music & voices , you have to feel good or have your spirits lifted after listening to this song , if not you are a naturally depressive .
Really? I thought this was the true story of the Cowsills, at least I was led to believe that, and no references were ever made to The Partridge Family. Hmm. Thanks for the info, however.
You must give credit to the mother of the Cowsills. She was a widow with several children at a time when social programs were not as generous to single parent families, and decided to parlay the musical talents of herself and her family into a successful career. They actually got their start playing at college parties in the Providence, Rhode Island area, and she advanced their careers without the use of an agent. A rather brave and astute woman, and yes, their songs WERE quite good.
@ligreekguy - You are confusing the fictional Partridge family with the real Cowsill family. The Cowsill family was the inspiration for the fictional Partridge family but in typical Hollywood fashion reality was adjusted to make a "better story" thus one of the brothers was turned into a 2nd sister and the mother was made a widow. None of which match reality. The band started with just the 4 eldest brothers and dad managing their mother wasn't added to the group until later.
I don't know how you got these fantastic clips but since you do, is it possible to upload Cowsill's Medley, it is the one where they feature all of them singing a different song. I think it's also, Susan's debut public performance.

@deuxchartreux i do not know why they would get a commission. It would be different if they were calling themselves the cowsills.
