@PivotZXD acording to wikipedia the game used to be like sonic R that released way back for the sega saturn and windows98 where sonic race and run on foot but they have removed all that saying the charecters are so big and it's difficult to play when they test it out also it's because amy and some other racer will ride cars while the rest is on foot like sonic they say other racer on foot might be sound silly to out lap sonic or something like that.

Note: if you have the radeon 5850 the game won't work, I downloaded this game off of steam and whenever i go to play it crashes on launch and sets my video options to low.

@godsinferno I use a 5850 and a Q9550 and the game works for me. Though I seem to get quite a lot of stuttering. Also, you can't apply anti aliasing, even forcing it through catalyst. I'm really glad I didn't pay £20 for this game on steam (got it for £5 on direct2drive sale yesterday), 'cause even minor stuttering like this pretty much ruins a game for me

@wootlanter actually i fixed it, but i to have stuttering and a 5850 OC. I tried to enable AA but it screwed up the game.

@godsinferno Oh, glad you fixed it mate. Did you get the black backgrounds with the AA? I find that if you disable "wide screen" from the configuration program, it stops doing that, which is strange. Although even mild ammount of AA seem to make the framerate go way down. I don't think this game is well optimised at all, since we have pretty powerful video cards.

@wootlanter Not only did I get black backgrounds but the racers were invisible, you could only see their shadows and their eyes, and no i didn't try disabling wide screen option. I really don't force AA in any of my games but if the game itself has an option for it i do enable it. we can hope in a next driver update it would fix the problem with AA and the stuttering, but i doubt that.

After doing a bit of reading, I think you'll find the stuttering will disappear the more you play the game. Every time you see the game stutter, the video card is 'learning' about the shader that it just rendered. Then the cache is written to the shader cache folder in the game directory. When the game stutters at that "event" it will never stutter again, when it performs it thereafter. I don't mind waiting for a game to come good, but seems pretty lazy of the devs to program like this....

@badidaliboing it's actually pretty darn good, even if people point and scream "RIP OFF" it's a really good game. The music is good and so are the tracks though I wish it had a little originality on those tracks because most of them are based of a character and looks the same. I enjoy this game and if you like racing games like Crash Team Racing or Mario Kart I would say it's a good buy.

I actually just ordered an ATI Radeon 4670 and I've got this game installed. It plays OK on my integrated ATI Radeon 4200 chip, but I hate having to play it in 640x480 or 800x600 just for decent FPS.

Just for shits and giggles, I maxed it out to 1440x900 and I end up getting anywhere from 2-15 fps in-game. :P Really looking forward to getting my new vid. card after seeing this video.

Probably will do. I tried the demo and I was impressed. Mainly because this game has most if not all of my favorite characters. Also not to mention the track designs. Also I like the mario kart system. Makes it a lot easier to jump into!

Games like this one are not the hardware-pushers which make PC-gamers want to go out and buy videocards worth 400 Euros/Dollars. Besides, nowadays games are being first being developed for the consoles (because this market is way more profitable for gameproducers) and then later ported to the PC. PC-exclusive games that push the hardware requirements are getting rare these days. Crysis was one of the last of such.

sure, but in my mind kart-games should be played with your friends in the same room. I as anybody like online-modes but it's no dealbreaker for me. I like do trashtalk while playing and that is done best irl not through some kind of voip-service :p
