It IS included in the console. The LAN adapter is for people who don't already have internet connection to still be able to get on Wiifi. It'll also make the connection smoother than sending the signal through your computer's router.

That's true, there is an option in the Wii to use the Nintendo USB. Although, the LAN adapter is preffered because it is faster and has less chances of you being disconnected.

It depends. If you have wireless internet, you get the wireless Nintendo Wi-Fi USB, However if you have DSL or wierd internet you get the lan adapter. I think you can still use a Wi-Fi USB even if you have DSL but im not sure.

My question is this, does your router or computer have to be near your Wii? because My Wii is in my room and my router is on the other side of the house, but I read in the description that you connect it to your router or computer with it's 6 foot connection cable. So I thought to myself why would you bother buying it it it's near your router anyway and could already get good connection.
