Very nice unit...most 8mm projectors were not that robust. All of these old projectors get really hot on the lamphouse, too hot to touch when running so this is normal for it to be really hot. Just don't stop the film with the lamp on and allow the blower to run a few minutes after showing. There shouldn't be any smoke though, maybe it was just dust on the bulb?

Did you know touching the light bulb with bare hands lessens the life. Then you wont be able to watch charlie chapman or betty boop

didnt know that. but i dont use it much because of the damaged gear. it works but some times jammes up

who ever built the case had a ton of expiriance doing wood working! it is solid. i put the cabinet lock on the door the rest is as i found it.

no it doesnt smoke at all. i do run the blower for about 5 min after shutting down the lamp. but it does work.

lol now we have a movie projector, and a 500 watt light bulb! lord you could get a tan fromthat no wonder it gets hot lol, good find

funny thing it gets so hot if you dont have the blower running to keep the bulb cool. boom. no more light bulb.
