  • nice song

  • niemals..

  • Ivfucking love it!!

  • 1:24 i that an animal?

  • The Everly Brothers were so emo.

  • See this ?? are you watching? this is what it took to get"in the scene" hard work,, not like todays ,,, get famous thro a commen as muck tv show

  • The 50's /60's /70's scream was well better than todays...

  • Why the hell did they have to make a denture paste song out of this? Stupid commercials.

  • @Uchiha899 -I agree brother... if you think you were born too soon, try making it through your day without your cellphone, computer, internet, iPad, medicine, freedom, etc. If you even said something like "i was born too late" they would have called you a communist...

Idiots. your all to blind to see, and too dumb to understand, what you have now that you would't then.

  • Another pointless Youtube debate....I love em!!! lol.

  • I know these guys were huge in the rock n' roll world of the 50s and 60s. Does anybody know how they made out on the country charts of that time? Their southern drawl really stands out in this recording.

  • Everly Brothers: Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness...

The Drifters: Hello happiness, goodbye loneliness...

  • isnt this george's harrison song?

  • vigorant! powerful! 1 some! remember? xxxd;

  • Phil and Don hit #2 in Billboard, 6-17-57. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • i was in the audience i am the doctor ......

  • Just did this song at jtyler5, so check it out and COMMENT..hit the LIKE or dislike button. I grew up with these guys! JohN Tyler

  • i definitely prefer things like women's rights and a generally more tolerant society as a whole when compared with this time period, i'm cool with being born eighteen years ago. however, those are some fine looking young men with some pretty great tunes and i wish there were a few more like them walking around these days.

  • If you know history you know these weren't the good 'o days. But when people wish they were from this era............... Its generally because they yearn for simpler times'. Don't be mad because everybody's' SOOOOOOOOO tired of today's Way of life.

    Lady GaGa can bite me...................

Whats wholesome now days? Nuthin! Even Disney is all about exploit and crude humor. Whats wrong with simple and classy?

  • @saveitforyourmama Well said.

  • they were both sooooo cute :')

  • When Don Everly does the turtle neck thing at 1:22 he gets the girls screamin'!!

  • this was the first I ever saw and heard of The Ev's... captivated me! Completely captured me attention and now they're one of my favourites. Listen to em every day. Perfect harmony makes me twitch with glee.

  • @jekk23 they are good

  • I'm dying to know who the new performer with a frenzied style is at the end?

  • @TheWood005 Man I know I'm dying

To know who it was to :(

  • I love the scream at 1:24

  • @Troublemaker1991 - That's the sound of a murder, right there.

  • really love this song......my father always play their song when he driving. and now this song is stuck on my memories

PS: im born in '85 but until now i still love their song

  • Great voices. great harmonies. Lennon & McCartney, Chuck Berry & Keith Richards loved the Everly Brothers and they all raved about how extremely talented they truly were right from the beginning.

  • bye bye love

  • 1:23... is that human?

  • @DiscoveringReason nope, its your mom. lol

  • i have to play this song on the piano for school :D

  • good

  • These r one of the guy who inspired the beatles? EPIC!!!!!!!! Great singers!!!!! wow

  • let the good times roll while they last!

  • the thing is, not all the music is trash now. The only reason we(i included) think its trash is we did not grow up with it. I was born in 94, and am almost 17. I grew up listening to The Beach Boys, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Beatles and others. My mother made me. I hated it then, but as i grew older, i realized that its not that bad. Instead of hackling the ones who grew up like this, we should feel sorry for them. But we should also realize that times are changing wither we like it or not.

  • They were so cute and still are in their 70's.

  • golden years :)

  • THE BROTHERS ARE A BIG PART OF THE HISTORY OF EARLY ROCK AND ROLL.........BEST DUO AT THAT TIME 50S.......VOCALS ARE SOMETHING THAT WAS NEW AT THAT TIME.......LEGENDS OF R&R......

  • omg their are so good, unbeatable. Sorry for my English, i am from Germany

  • omg their are so good, unbeatable.

  • omg what a wonderful music. I love these brothers.

    Hello from Germany

  • who would click on dislike???????? i LOVE this song so stuff it you 42!!!!!!!!!

  • Why can't you live in my generation? ;)

  • 1950-1970 the generation where young artists could play instruments, wrie their own lyrics and not sell their music with their pretty faces. R.I.P generation perfect, forever in our hearts <3

  • @olli449 The Everly Brother actually didn't write their own music (at least not all). But I do agree with you. Musicians very much more talented back then :)

  • This was the first Rock & Roll song I got into. I was either 3 or 4 and I played it over and over.

  • 0:22

  • "YouTube Is as close to a time machine as we got" I'm gonna just sit here in my time capsule and and cast my cares away.

  • is there more to this video? who is the "new performer" they mentioned at the end?

  • @omarskats3000 Its Elvis I believe

  • I am sure the new comer mentioned is Jerry Lee Lewis. Elvis was already on the scene for a couple of years.

  • This is one of the true classics of Rock and Roll. I was a little kid in Boston when this song first hit the radio. The blend of Southern country and rock n roll rhythm lit me up - no more "Doggie in the Window". It was Rock and Roll all the way. Still like to sing the harmony when I hear it.

  • I love ds song

  • where have all the good times gone...?

  • see Bret C. Harmon's "Dreams".

    Enjoy!

  • Born in the wrong era....I'm 18, same age as Phil, and I wish boys today were like boys back then. Such great talent, I love this song.

  • duz ne bdy kno who ver thy talking bout aftr thr song ended???

  • The beetles

  • Wow, you look at the audience and see all these older folks, nowadays all you'll see the older folks do is shaking their heads at the songs being put out by 18 year olds. How I miss this.

  • 1:51 YouTube video: 0:24 Everly Brothers singing Bye Bye Love; song by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant.

February 13, 1920: birth of Boudleaux Bryant, American songwriter (d. 1987).

  • I forgot to add thatPhil Everly plays standard tuning.Cheers!

  • I went over this with my guitar teacher --Guy Rogers(Ex down County Boys-UK),and he showed me this--Tune to DGDGBD,Capo on 2nd fret and finger on14th fret, strike once to get that distinct 1st chord that opens Bye Bye Love .

  • great post man !!! cant beat classic 1950s USA rock and roll check out my Chanel if you want.

  • la musica piu bella è quella americana anni 60

  • Damn so beautiful song !

i freaking love it :D pure awesome

  • I was born in 1987 and I have to say I love this music.

Much better then my jenerations music.

  • alright this is a really good song but i was listening to beatkes mix and this came on

  • That´s music for my ears!

  • Tried many a time to play the guitar intro to their song to no avail!Watching them play I see that their chord shapes are not the same.I read somewhere that Don was tuning his guitar to Open Tuning Key of C and hit a shape around the 14th fret to start the song.If you freeze this video at 1:26 is that a Capo on the 2nd fret?Is there anybody out there can solve this mystery for a guy of 65yrs who picked up the guitar 4yrs ago? From atrue fan.

  • @lejeune1945

Don is tuned to open G, capo on the 2nd fret makes it an A chord.

the very first chord is a high A chord on the 14th fret.

    hope that helps.

    DGDGBD

  • @lejeune1945 You're right, he seems to play an open chord in the chorus and it does look like a capo. It just doesn't sound right trying to play it like with standard tuning. I was just listening to the Keith Richards book 'Life' and he talks about one of the brothers turned him on to open tuning when he asked about this song's intro. He then was inspired to write more open-tuned riffs for the Stones. He talks a lot about guitar and has some great stories, I recommend it for any guitarist.

  • Happy Birthday Phil keep on going you and your brother have some the greatest of all time!

  • Gotta love shot of stone-faced adults at 0:37. Meanwhile, the teen girls are screaming & crying.

  • kids dont appreciate true music nowadays yanno?

  • @scaryfairyboi Gimme a break.there has been crap music and good music from the beginning of time, people just forget about the bad stuff. go look through the charts of yester-decades and you'll see that people rarely bought what are today considered the great records(though they often pretend they have).if you can't find the good music being produced today you should really look in different places.seriously its worth it.theres some really amazing stuff out there :)

  • @AndSuchSmallPortions i find the unknown bands to be more creative and more musically pleasing to the ear. a few diamonds in the rough can be found in the mainstream though. :)

  • @scaryfairyboi i absolutely agree.i suppose my contention with your statement that 'kids dont appreciate true music nowadays' is that it suggests that theres something wrong with my generation.generally, assertions that the younger generations are more violent, dumber, less moral etc never hold water.and they've been made about every generation.its just nostalgia and changin styles/values at work.look back on the music of today in 20 years time and you'll see the musical worth of my generation

  • this is amazing man, haha no way would tallent and non cocky'ness come up these days , its all shows and Tv" pants, this is real work to successs folks. And the best music for my ears to this day.

  • 2 good ol' Kentucky boys ladies and gentlemen!!!! props from lexington!!!!

  • The host made a crack about Pat Boone's age

18, 20 I think PAt Boone is old enought to their grandfather

  • @Freyja1133 I cracked up at that one!

  • nice <3

  • Never underrated. The biggest duo in the world late fifties and early sixties!

  • Very underrated group! They were great!

  • @brownindian17

    Everly Brothers. Underrated. U MAD?

  • teenage hearthrobs

  • From what is this segment of? and who is that new performer they are talking about??

  • Born 1997, 50 years too late.... :(

  • @12345BeatlesFan You'd have alzheimers and you wouldn't get to see this video, hell, you'd probably be in a concentration camp by age eight. Be glad you missed the Everly Brothers.

  • @12345BeatlesFan I feel your pain!

  • @12345BeatlesFan Nah! Something will happen and music will get good again.I'm 68 yrs. and so thankful I lived in that time.Precious Memories.

  • @12345BeatlesFan that makes two of us

  • @12345BeatlesFan Me too.

  • @12345BeatlesFan I am starting to get tired of all of these titwads saying they wish they were born at some earlier time. Earlier times sucked. The past looks so good at times because we see it through a filter: The crappy majority becomes forgotten, the golden minority is what's remembered from the past.

  • @Uchiha899 I don't care about the bad stuff of the 50's, I can't wait to go back in time and meet Buddy Holly. Seems to me that YOU SUCK!

  • @JiggyMonster98 I don't think that he's saying that music back then sucked. I believe that he's saying that it all isn't prosperous like in these videos. For example, when people see the flappers from the 20's they think "wow! I wish that I lived back then!" However, they don't consider that those people were rich. The majority of classes were poor.

  • @Uchiha899 maybe some of us don't mean LITERALLY, some of us say that just because of the music!

  • @Uchiha899 Well I'm sure they don't appreciate being called titwads and I think it's a good thing that they are interested in the past. Maybe they like the idea of the old diners and malt shops. For teenagers, the 50's were great but it depends on where you were in the 50's. American teens in the 50's had the diners, cool cars, great music, and of coarse sock hops. Let em say what they wish. At least some of them appreciate oldies unlike some teens at school who'd say, "Whose Buddy Holly?"

  • @Uchiha899 You just don't get the point.

  • @Uchiha899 I know, but the music of those eras right up until the 90's WAS better. My youth was late 70's & 80's and the music today IS shite mostly.

  • @Uchiha899 The music was good. Other than that...I'm glad I was born later.

  • @Uchiha899 AMEN!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Uchiha899

    You're a jerk.

    - Justin Bieber

  • @Uchiha899 but to be fair they were fifty years further away from what gets here when the oil runs out and we can't eat the money any more.

  • @Uchiha899 you know why we hate having to grow up in these times? because our generation are nothing but brainwashed fuckwits and it's hard to find friends that you actually have things in common with because of it. So we are forced into either being fake or not having any friends. Also the only thing that i think that we have now that is any good is the internet. comparing now with the late 60's i'd much prefer the 60's becuase the majority of people are into the same shit as me.

  • @shordyinabox but, in saying that i do hate seeing repetative comments on youtube videos.

  • @shordyinabox What's so different about people's interest back then compared to now? The adult majority still liked to booze it up and have sex. The adolescent majority was fairly lame if you ask me. Tell me what's so great about the 60's time period, besides the music.

  • @Uchiha899 Excuse me?

I'd rather live in the fucking 50's and 40's than live in this God damn generation.

It WAS a lot better back then, Today is fucking terrible.

We will ALWAYS be considered the worst generation.

    Fuck you.

  • @KokomoRivers Okay. If you were born back then, you'd have about a 50% chance to be born in a rural community. If you were born in an urban/suburban area, fine. Now, you get all of the great tech from back then: Black and white television set, and a radio. You'd only be able to hear whatever crap the radio stations in your area felt like playing. You'd most likely never even hear about the Everly Brothers. No internet, no 50+ channels of cable TV. And the Cold War. Have fun wit dat

  • @Uchiha899

Nothing wrong with that. We got too much high tech crap!!!

  • @12345BeatlesFan At least someone your age can recognize good music from the junk passing as music today.

  • @12345BeatlesFan same here, but at least people look back on this stuff now as classic and they epitamy of the 50's - they didn't back then.

  • @12345BeatlesFan 100th like born 62 years too late..:(

  • @12345BeatlesFan yeahh, that's what i said to myself also. im also born in 1997. too bad for people just like us.

  • @12345BeatlesFan oh im 15 and i also like this kind of music :)

  • ray charles just sayin

  • i like the biggining of this song that fancyguitar thing thes guys are the best ive ever heard in a long long long long long long long long long time

  • Great song...There is still a lot of nice people..But they are getting more scarce!

  • I think he meant "only a 20 year old would say his age in the first place",it seems he was nervous too, lol!

  • In 85 seconds, these guys just blew away the last the chart music of the last 85 MONTHS.

  • What 36 idiots would click on "Dislike" for something this genuine?

  • @tomtowle Probably rappers or hip hoppers. Definitely YOUNG AND DUMB!

  • @SharMess you must be old and clever then.. soo dull to make those statements.

  • Thismis classic music. This music has a good rythm and it has a meaning unlike the trash on the radio today. Music back then took skill to create and write where now we have these idiots who use a bass drum as all of their instruments and repeat the same crap about sex and drugs over and over. The good news is that this music will never die because in some countries it's comming back, so be on the lookout for Rock and Roll.

  • incredible lovely

  • they look like elvis

  • This song is emo as fuck, but still WAY better than fags like Hawthorn Heights, Aiden, Tokio Hotel and all that shit. I LOVE this song!

  • Hey guys, don't forget all the crap that came out of the 70s. But I agree, these guys are not among the crap, they're among the brightest stars.

  • I love this song, but c'mon guys, not everything was sunshine and rainbows back in the 50s and 60s. Forget about Korea and the Cold War? Segregation and assassinations? Yeah, I for one appreciate that I can live in a world where that's not happening (albeit we have our own issues), and still enjoy the music from these times.

  • I go on gitar and i am learning this song !

  • these 2 were the shiz

  • online dating site # lushfmlk.info #

  • What is this fagot behind?

  • "Smile? How can we smile while you're drooling all over us?"

  • Met Don's son a few years ago (10) at his aunts house when he flew in to have her hear some tapes of his band while we were having a party at her house. Nice young kid and had some good tapes that we listen too.

  • There have been many Brothers and Sisters groups over the years, but none had the impact of these two boys from Kentucky..

.......Let's STAY DEVOTED To The Everly Brothers.....

    Erik a.k.a. Ricky Teal, Florida.

  • I like how they both stood up so quick to start playing.

  • we are singing this in the school and we´re spanish

  • The moderator of course made a slip of the tongue. "Only a twenty love would say his name in first place." Should have been say his a g e in the first place.

  • 18 et 20 ans!!!!

  • The fifteenth #1 Country & Western song of the Rock Era. This song also hit #1 on the Top 40 Charts, making The Everly's the first brother act to hit #1 on both the Pop and C&W charts.

  • One of the best songs ever, and Everly Brothers were great!

  • these guys so turned me on when I was 14-15-16, never even saw them; just their singing

  • @01debrc Many of us have the same sentiment....Everly Bros rule.

  • @pw00tang yea them and simon and garfunkel they're both awesome duos

  • These two young lads sing with so much vigor and without any of that autotune rubbish, amazing. Best duo ever.

  • Good Marines

  • I love metal... but I have been to Hot August Nights and talked to my grandparents... I just wish i was lucky enough to live in the 50's. I just love how america was and hate how it is now. Most stuff seemed peaceful back then and I sure love to see all the Hot cars when they were brand new right off the lot. I hope someday there is a time machine :) I have always been interested in Americas history from World War II on the 40's til the 60's that was the best gap of time I could wish to be in.

  • Great song - but what a schmuck who introduced them!

  • who typed in bye?

  • Julius LaRosa, who was famously fired on air by Arthur Godfrey 2 years earlier, is introducing the Everlys, and sounding like he's a wise old man..LaRosa was all of 27 at the time.

  • Good things will never go away

  • This was my Aunt's favorite song. She passed away the 2nd of this month. So Aunt Jo... tell we see each other again. Bye Bye love.

  • @urjustamemory

    R.I.P.Aunt Jo

    :(

  • Great Songs don't need a comment.

  • i so agree with CosworthUSA

i was born in 1987 but this music is the best!!!!!!!!

  • Look at how young Phil (my heart-throb) and Don appear!

  • i love being 16 and being one of the only teenagers who LOVES the 50's and 60's :D

  • @ohokjulia im 15 and i feel the same way not to many people like the 50s and 60s
